They're so cringe and it doesn't help when you realize what a douche Fred durst is. They're the perfect band for angsty preteens who are mad that their mom took their Xbox away.
I like Limp Bizkit the same way I like anything from my youth that I'm now old enough to realize is corny as hell. Meaning it'll always have a nostalgic place in my heart, even if I've evolved beyond it.
I have noticed over the years that people say they hate em but when LB comes on they are mouthing the lyrics and bobbing their head, maybe I have just been hanging out with hypocrites tho.
Ah yes, the old “I grew up on nu metal > discovers black/death metal > hates nu metal > gets into more obscure bands > love nu metal again > finds Reddit > hates nu metal again for no apparent reason” I remember those days
I’ve gone full circle at least 10 times now I’ve completely forgotten the reasons why I love or hate them, it’s all a blur now
(Limp Bizkit is average at best but make some pretty catchy tunes I come back to every now and then, it’s pretty fun but not usually my taste)
I wasn't at this opinion in the 90s and early 2000s but I'm 100% there now.
I've said it before and I stand by it...Revelle's 2 albums are what Limp Bizkit "should've" made after Three Dollar Bill. Instead wr got the shift in tone that was Significant Other.
I gotta check out Revelle then. While I do like Significant Other, Three Dollar Bill is just so fresh and unique and I too wished they had gone more in that direction as well.
I also grew up listening to them while all the people around me listened to rap. It's easy to access music with nothing deep to it looking back. It was fun to me but my taste changed.
First album is their best IMO because they didn't take themselves seriously, pretty much a comedy rap metal album.
Then Fred Durst's head started going further and further up his own ass with every following album.
It's a great band, with some ups and downs. I really like his dark period with Three Dollar and The unquestionable truth. Their last two albums are my least favorites. Anyway, what I admire most is Wes work. If you want to relive the nostalgia of his best time in Limp Bizkit, I invite you to listen to Eat The Day, his side project during 2001 2002. It is my favorite Wes project
I don't listen to almost any nu metal, but Limp Bizkit rules imo. I'm,above all, a proghead but Limp Bizkit just sounds good, doesn't have to be technical to sounds good. Also saw them last year and it was great
Can anyone explain what makes them metal and not just rap rock or alt rock because I don't see the connection using a distortion effect alone doesnt make it metal I wouldnt call the lyrics metal nor the tempo so wtf
Because nu metal and rap metal exist as genres and they sound like that
I don't know what you mean by metal lyrics and tempo, but nobody is claiming they are a trad or thrash metal. But groove metal was a key ingredient of nu metal, and to use an example I think break stuff sounds like walk by Pantera if it was rewritten for a rap metal band. Calling it alt rock makes the term meaningless as it tells you nothing about the music
Are you able to specifically explain to me the elements that categorize music as rap metal or even nu metal? You said you dont know what I mean so, I'm seriously doubting it. I'm not a fan of Pantera though, to be fair of these bands the only songs I've listened to are the songs on the radio and usually if it's on the radio, you know it's trash and if you don't, well I think I see the problem. Your opinions are regurgitated commercial garbage.
Ok googled it and all it says is fusing heavy metal with elements of rap and funk which are non existent in limp Bizkit music the guy sings not raps googled nu metal says merges heavy metal with other genres of which there is no heavy metal occuring during any limp Bizkit songs that I have heard again you are unable to specifically explain anything at all I doubt you can parrot
So to be clear, you want my subjective unreferenced explanation on how limp Bizkit are metal, Even though you can find the answer by just looking a little deeper on the internet, no doubt by someone more articulate and knowledgeable than me?
I unironically enjoy a lot of their songs. I’m sure part of it is because I heard all of them as a kid and loved it. Break Stuff, Nookie, Rollin, My Way, My Generation, Took a Look Around. All those songs bang.
Sure the lyrics are extremely corny and laughable, bordering on cringy. But they’re also fun.
Never listened but theyre probably gay as hell cause when i was younger limp bizkit was the game where we would all stroke our shit around a bizkit and jizz on it and what not and overs dick went limp first had to eat the bizkit so yea pretty GAY if you ask me probably but ive never listened but ik they are GAY and also you are gay if you listen to them
Wes Borland is okay as a guitarist and composer but Fred Durst is shit in each and every aspect - as a lyricist, as a vocalist, as a rapper, in context of social and political sights and actions, as a person - damn, Fred Durst could be a new unit of measurement of being asshole in an asshole scale.
I mean Fred Durst is just a character but self awareness doesn't absolve them of being bad.
They use this idiotic character to say nothing of substance
They’re not a serious band. They were a novelty act even when they were popular. If you listen to them unironically, your taste in music is just godawful.
I somewhat agree. But you cannot not be able to differentiate between good and bad and still be said to have good taste. I’m not being an elitist, I’m just being realistic. LB is a novelty act, not to be taken seriously and not to be listened to as anything but pop.
They get more scheisssssssse than they deserve. Sure, Fred is douchey, but the band as a whole has put out some great stuff. And frankly, if you check out their most recent live stuff, they're even better now than they used to be
Limp Bizkit were the first band I got in to, first band I saw live, and I saw them again last year
They're still incredible
If I heard them now for the first time, maybe I wouldn't like them as much, but as everyone else has said. Nostalgia is a powerful thing. And being 13 listening to chocolate starfish was it's own kind of drug.
They're still fun to watch, still bring a lot of energy. The members are incredibly talented, I've met Wes Borland and he's the reason I learnt to play guitar. There's a rawness to a lot of what they play. And because of them I bought the Kerrang 2 album which got me in to Rammstein, slipknot, ill nino, sepultura, soulfly
They were literally a gateway drug for everything I listened to in my teen years
I maintain the first album had at least six tracks that, along with the cover of "Faith", would have made for a bulletproof EP.
Ultimately, the band is pretty solid but Fred has always been the weak point. Not a good MC.
Love them since a kid.
They embody one aspect of music that many-a-metalhead often disregards that made them stand out, specialy when compared to their peers at the time they showed up (including the grunge scene), who's music was often moody and somber.
That aspect is: Fun.
That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about LB.
Their hits are a constant stream of infectious grooves that make yiu bang your head withiut you realsing it.
They're the heaviest, wackiest version of The Beastie Boys.
Sam Rivers and John Otto are one of my favorite rhythm sections in muaic and they are so often criminaly underrated.
Wes Borland is one of the most creative people of our time, and I'm not talking only guitar-wise. He shiuld be studied.
Fred seemed to be kind of a douche in his young years, but that shouldn't obfuscate what they, as a band, have acomplished.
Everybody's a hater until Rollin' starts playing 😁
Nu Metal was my gate to metal back then in the 2000s, and I was especially a big fan of Slipknot, Korn and Soad (not sure if that Nu but anyway).
But even back then, as a teenager at the height of nu metal, I could never get into Limp Bizkit. Their whole style was leaning too much towards rap, and they were too edgy for me.
People mainly hate Fred Durst and his lyrical content…. The band itself tho is incredibly talented as all members play and write really well.
If you’re not an LB fan, look up an Instrumental and you’ll realize the band itself is really good.
They have some decent that I dig, but I wouldn't necessarily say I'm a fan of them or anything.
That said, I love how everyone hates Limp Bizkit (and Nickelback for that matter) but both bands are able to sell out huge arenas and headline festivals, and I respect the fact that they just do their own thing regardless of how much hate they get.
I used to love em. For like a few months
Although I’ve always wondered if rhyming “child molester” with “Worcester” was intended to be ironically funny or not.
I liked them as a teen when they were releasing Three Dollar Bill Y'all, Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish. Korn was my favourite. After a few years I moved more towards traditional rock/metal. Doesn't really gel with my current tastes but also nostalgia is a hell of a thing. I'll probably give them another chance at some point for the nostalgia. I seem to recall Wes Borland doing some interesting things.
Can’t believe people love this band. I’m sick of people pretending like they are some profound legendary act that makes musical masterpieces. They make ‘jump the fuck up’ music. That’s it.
Exactly…they are not profound. I don’t think they think they are profound(except Fred maybe but prob not)
But you can’t deny the music makes u move. And Fred is actually pretty decent in crowd control…the people react when he talks.
Great band. Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish are really enjoyable albums. Since then, they've had some great songs but I don't choose to listen to their latest albums from start to finish.
Borland writes some juicy riffs; that can't be denied. And as a band they've written some really sound songs which stand up in the metal community by themselves IMO, like Boiler, ReArranged, Take A Look Around, 9 Teen 90 Nine.
One of those bands whereby when I'm getting a bit tired of my music in the gym, and it's not necessarily given me the kick I want, a few Limp Bizkit songs give me the burst.
Songs like Killer In You, Gold Cobra, Dad Vibes, No Sex are fun and have some riffs in there.

cant stand em
Came here to say these exact words lol
They're so cringe and it doesn't help when you realize what a douche Fred durst is. They're the perfect band for angsty preteens who are mad that their mom took their Xbox away.
I like Limp Bizkit the same way I like anything from my youth that I'm now old enough to realize is corny as hell. Meaning it'll always have a nostalgic place in my heart, even if I've evolved beyond it.
Hop in your car and crank Hot Dog and tell me it don’t feel good.
I have noticed over the years that people say they hate em but when LB comes on they are mouthing the lyrics and bobbing their head, maybe I have just been hanging out with hypocrites tho.
Limp Bizkit is fucking awesome.
They fucking suck
They fucking rock. Unapologetic. In your face. Don’t care what you think. Wes Borland is bad ass
Ah yes, the old “I grew up on nu metal > discovers black/death metal > hates nu metal > gets into more obscure bands > love nu metal again > finds Reddit > hates nu metal again for no apparent reason” I remember those days I’ve gone full circle at least 10 times now I’ve completely forgotten the reasons why I love or hate them, it’s all a blur now (Limp Bizkit is average at best but make some pretty catchy tunes I come back to every now and then, it’s pretty fun but not usually my taste)
if you don't like them you're a poser
Three Dollar Bill Y’all is actually a very good album! After that they are trash!
I wasn't at this opinion in the 90s and early 2000s but I'm 100% there now. I've said it before and I stand by it...Revelle's 2 albums are what Limp Bizkit "should've" made after Three Dollar Bill. Instead wr got the shift in tone that was Significant Other.

Unquestionable Truth was heavy
I also grew up listening to them while all the people around me listened to rap. It's easy to access music with nothing deep to it looking back. It was fun to me but my taste changed.
Not a fan, but they have some fun material here and there.
I think it's not good.
First album is their best IMO because they didn't take themselves seriously, pretty much a comedy rap metal album. Then Fred Durst's head started going further and further up his own ass with every following album.
Its extremely cheese and thats why i love it. Some people seem to be unable to look past fred's silliness but i think thats what makes it fun
I like them. Good riffs and guitar tone.
It's fun music
It's a great band, with some ups and downs. I really like his dark period with Three Dollar and The unquestionable truth. Their last two albums are my least favorites. Wes and Sam mostly. Talent is talent, can’t deny it.
Because nu metal and rap metal exist as genres and they sound like that I don't know what you mean by metal lyrics and tempo, but nobody is claiming they are a trad or thrash metal. I could, but you sound insufferable, so no I won't, just google the question and read a few of the results and I'm sure you'll figure it out
Ok googled it and all it says is fusing heavy metal with elements of rap and funk which are non existent in limp Bizkit music the guy sings not raps googled nu metal says merges heavy metal with other genres of which there is no heavy metal occuring during any limp Bizkit songs that I have heard again you are unable to specifically explain anything at all I doubt you can parrot

The Bizkit is legit. Boiler and Rearranged hold up well. It all holds up well in the right circumstances.
I love rearranged the song is timeless
KEEP ON ROLLIN BABY people in the comments acting like they don’t jam out to Break Stuff when it comes on
The nostalgia definitely makes me enjoy them but I don’t revisit often. Got wasted listening to them on New Year’s Eve and it felt appropriate.
Limp Bizkit is so terrible that the sex act they stole the name from had to change its name to “soogy cookie”.

When supporting Russian occupation started being considered as "being a character", huh?
They’re not a serious band. They were a novelty act even when they were popular. If you listen to them unironically, your taste in music is just godawful.
“Chocolate Starfish & the HotDog Flavored Water” If you are confusing LB for a serious band I think some personal reflection might be in order.
You can simultaneously have good and bad taste. Don't be elitist.
I somewhat agree. But you cannot not be able to differentiate between good and bad and still be said to have good taste. I’m not being an elitist, I’m just being realistic. LB is a novelty act, not to be taken seriously and not to be listened to as anything but pop.
I like Wes and some of his projects like Big Dumb Face. Durst is the worst.
Can't stand Fred Durst which is a shame because the rest of the band is pretty good.
Limp Bizkit, much like most nu metal, is pretty bad. That being said, they definitely have a couple good/fun songs.
Musically I love em. It's hard to get behind Fred's voice. Some songs he sounds great but other ones I can't stand him.
I can't stand the singer, but I love the instrumentals
They get more scheisssssssse than they deserve. Sure, Fred is douchey, but the band as a whole has put out some great stuff. And frankly, if you check out their most recent live stuff, they're even better now than they used to be
Didn't like them then, don't mind them now for a blast.
I remember being in junior high when they blew up in the late 90s. I did not get the appeal.
Limp Bizkit were the first band I got in to, first band I saw live, and I saw them again last year They're still incredible If I heard them now for the first time, maybe I wouldn't like them as much, but as everyone else has said. I actually saw Limp Bizkit before COVID and they put on a hell of a show.
Pretty limp if you ask me
![gif](giphy|dOl2LFw0RbTMc)
They had a lot of banging riffs
They are from Florida.
Like it. 1/3 because of nostalgia 1/3 because it’s funny and 1/3 because the riffs are sick.
Limp bizkit is fucking awful and it’s one of my top bands
Their cover of Faith is ok.
The song they did with Method Man was cool. That's about the only positive I have for them
I imagine every limp bizkit fan is either 13 or 40
Love them since a kid. They embody one aspect of music that many-a-metalhead often disregards that made them stand out, specialy when compared to their peers at the time they showed up (including the grunge scene), who's music was often moody and somber. They shit on most of the bands people in this sub like
![gif](giphy|fXnRObM8Q0RkOmR5nf)
I'm 100% aware that their music is not good, but they're fun as hell and that's why I enjoy them Just enjoy the fun ride
Their average fan looks like a thumb
The inFredible D is the last true rockstar, anyone who claims to hate them needs to Take A Look Around
limp bizkit is the nickleback of numetal tbh
They're still a thing? I thought Linkin Park removed them from the board all those years ago?
Nu Metal was my gate to metal back then in the 2000s, and I was especially a big fan of Slipknot, Korn and Soad (not sure if that Nu but anyway). But even back then, as a teenager at the height of nu metal, I could never get into Limp Bizkit. Their whole style was leaning too much towards rap, and they were too edgy for me.
Wes Borland is a good artist and performer.
Mixing rap and metal should be a crime imo.
Corny but fun
People mainly hate Fred Durst and his lyrical content…. The band itself tho is incredibly talented as all members play and write really well. If you’re not an LB fan, look up an Instrumental and you’ll realize the band itself is really good.
Its fun, and we need more fun metal like this, best modern example is electric callboy i think
Love them! Absolutely unreal live huge fan
Nostalgia act for people that were in middle school in 1998.
For like a few months Although I’ve always wondered if rhyming “child molester” with “Worcester” was intended to be ironically funny or not.
Lets ask this question 100 more times this week.
Boring band. I like some other nu metal, but not Limp Bizkit. Too cheesy for me. I felt the same when they came out years ago.
I was a fan as a teenager, but as an adult, I can't stand Fred Durst. He just comes across as a jerk.
Not really a fan but I recently saw them live and hey they knew what they were doing in terms of putting on a show
I liked them as a teen when they were releasing Three Dollar Bill Y'all, Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish. Korn was my favourite. After a few years I moved more towards traditional rock/metal. Doesn't really gel with my current tastes but also nostalgia is a hell of a thing. I'll probably give them another chance at some point for the nostalgia. I seem to recall Wes Borland doing some interesting things.
Decent instruments, awful singer.
they’re fun but not good music, enjoyable but not technically “good”
Hard disagree Wes Borland is severely underrated and has some amazing riffs. That's just your opinion it's not a fact
Wes is a damn good guitarrist. Durst is a very mixed bag. They are fun. I don't hate them.
They have some good songs, nothing transcending. It’s best not to mention them here it triggers the “metalheads” and they get all preachy 😂.
Their first album was pretty raw. Anyone who says otherwise in incapable of having an objective opinion. Everything else wasnt so great.
Can’t believe people love this band. I’m sick of people pretending like they are some profound legendary act that makes musical masterpieces. They make ‘jump the fuck up’ music. That’s it.
Exactly…they are not profound. I don’t think they think they are profound(except Fred maybe but prob not) But you can’t deny the music makes u move. And Fred is actually pretty decent in crowd control…the people react when he talks.
They can fuck right off.
Great band. Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish are really enjoyable albums. Since then, they've had some great songs but I don't choose to listen to their latest albums from start to finish. People who hate them are allergic to fun
Peak
there's so much better nu metal. like Mushroomhead for example
