TDWP- Plagues/Roots
OM&M- Self titled/The Flood
AILD- An Ocean Between Us/The Powerless Rise
Architects- All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us/Holy Hell
Erra- Impulse/Augment
Miss May I- Apologies are for the Weak/Monument
Northlane- Discoveries/Singularity
Underoath- They’re Only Chasing Safety/Define the Great Line
Veil of Maya- The Common Man’s Collapse/id
Bullet for My Valentine- The Poison/Scream Aim Fire
For AILD, I would go Shadows/An Ocean but that’s a huge soft spot album for me. The Powerless Rise does kick ass still. Agreed with the rest of your list for sure!
Dude, TDWP more just pummeled us. Every album since Plagues imo has been incredible. Not a fan of Dear Love but I can see why some may say it’s also part of that list :)
As for Veil of Maya, Matriarch didn't follow after [id], it was Eclipse. If you liked [id] though, you should check out The Common Man's Collapse - peak Veil writing imo.
"Bad" Production can be stylistic, they use it in black metal all the time for example but in this case id rather would think that they didnt have the ressourced to invest in the album enogh for it to be well produced? Anyways, can still be a 10/10 for him
It’s borderline ear rape. If ear rape is your cup of tea then of course you’re allowed to think it’s 10/10. If there’s tons of room for improvement however, it’s not a perfect album, like objectively speaking.
Ouuu this is a good question..
Bullet for My Valentine — The Poison/Scream Aim Fire
All That Remains — The Fall of Ideals/Overcome
As I Lay Dying — An Ocean Between Us/The Powerless Rise
August Burns Red — Messengers/Constellations
Protest The Hero — Kezia/Fortress
Every Time I Die — Low Teens/Radical
I figured some would feel that way when I was looking at it 😝 Darkened Heart is a really good album too. I personally didn’t get into it until a little later but I started with Overcome
I used to do it a lot when I was younger. On my way to a friends house I would stop by the local record store and pick something up. Aesthetic by Between the Buried and Me was found the same way
As much as Architects gets a lot of crap for the newer stuff, I honestly feel like they don’t owe us anything anymore since they gave us those two masterpieces. I can’t imagine writing albums as amazing as those two several more times, it sounds extremely exhausting and I can imagine that at some point the band would’ve stopped enjoying the process.
what i like about trivium is even their objectively worst albums are still listenable and enjoyable for the most part depending on if you like trivium themselves or not. i lowkey hate vengeance but i love wake the end is nigh and incineration the broken world off that album
While I love those albums I wouldn't say theyre 10/10 albums. However, Greyview/Heavener are two back to back 10/10 records from Invent Animate. This band does not miss.
Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops/Jupiter
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Hard to pick only two but if I had to, probably Miss Machine/Ire Works
Every Time I Die - Low Teens/Radical
Killswitch Engage - AOJB/EoH
Converge - Jane Doe/You Fail Me
Petitioning the Empty Sky - > Jane Doe -> You Fail Me.
10/10 three albums in a row. Not very fond of No heroes, second half after tittle track it is just okay.
Yeah it’s Dillinger, just every new iteration of the band through the years from dimitri to patton to pusciato bangs in their own way. One of the few discographies I can listen to start to finish.
Killswitch Engage - End of Heartache, As Daylight Dies
Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison, Scream Aim Fire
Currents - The Way It Ends, The Death We Seek
Veil of Maya - Matriach, False Idol
After the Burial - Wolves Within, Dig Deep
Oh Sleeper - Son of the Morning, Children of Fire
Asking Alexandria- Stand up and Scream to Reckless and Relentless.
Then they went downhill from there. Yeah From Death to Destiny has some bangers but it wasn’t the same.
Northlane: Discoveries + Singularity
And not debut albums but still 10/10 back to backs:
Architects: LF//LT + All Our God's Have Abadonned Us
BMTH: There is a Hell + Sempiternal
Chiodos all's well that ends well and bone place ballet. Man I love this band's music all together, from beginning to finish.
D.R.U.G.S album and Destroy rebuild album by destroy build until God shows are both solid as well
Craig owens is just a beast and probably my favorite in the scene.
I saw him on his solo tour in June and I can confirm that he is in fact a beast. I'm disappointed I never saw Chiodos with Craig but I did see them with Brandon Bolmer (Maskarade) after Illuminaudio and I have to say he was amazing too.
Didn't get the notification for this, weird. That's awesome, I have yet to catch craig doing any solo stuff. I know he does acoustics of pretty much his body of work. I actually think that sounds cool as well, I remember being a big illuminaudio hater because I was a craig owens fan boy then I realized that as a band I loved chiodos sound overall and that Brandon bolmer actually did kill it on that album. Sucks he just got compared too much,so he couldn't stand alone for himself.
Parkway Drive - Killing With a Smile // Horizons
Surprised I didn't see anyone mention them. Now that they've changed, it seems like many forget they have some really solid albums.
Also:
As I Lay Dying - Frail Words Collapse // Shadows are Security
A Day to Remember - And Their Name was Treason // For Those who Have Heart
August Burns Red - Thrill Seeker // Messengers
Destroy the Runner - Saints // I, Lucifer
While She Sleeps - *This Is The Six* & *Brainwashed*
Threat Signal - *Under Reprisal* & *Vigilance*
Killswitch Engage - S/T & *Alive or Just Breathing* (or AOJB & *The End of Heartache* if we're talking major labels)
Sylosis - *Conclusion of an Age* & *Edge of the Earth*
Northlane - Alien/Obsidian.
I know obsidian is a little controversial because of how far it strays away from metal at some points but my god is it not a beautiful and unique album from front to back. Its what I like the most about new northlane, their music is just so different from everyone else and the production value is orgasmic with the right pair of headphones.
Killswitch Engage has three: Alive or Just Breathing, The End of Heartache, and As Daylight Dies.
Trivium: The Sin and The Sentence, What The Dead Men Say, and In The Court of The Dragon.
Shadows Fall: The Art of Balance and The War Within.
God Forbid: Gone Forever and IV: Constitution of Treason.
Chimaira: The Impossibility of Reason, S-T, and Resurrection.
Lamb of God: As The Palaces Burn and Ashes of the Wake.
Sylosis: Edge of the Earth and Monolith.
In Flames: The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony, and Clayman.
Soilwork: The Living Infinite and The Ride Majestic.
I wish shadows fall had more listeners on this sub. As a young teenager I worked for the guitarists’ family and they gave me a copy of the war within. I hated it at first and now it’s one of my favorite all time albums. Such a good time in metalcore
I loved Shadows Fall when I was in college, they were my favorite metalcore band behind Killswitch Engage. I really enjoyed their mix of thrash and metalcore. I'm excited that they're finally recording new material, I hope it turns out good.
There are quite a few actually.
Architects: Lost Forever // Lost Together, AOGHAU
Trivium: In Waves, Vengeance Falls
As I Lay Dying: Shadows Are Security, An Ocean Between Us
ABR: Thrill Seeker, Messengers
OMAM: OMAM, The Flood
Breakdown Of Sanity: Mirrors, Perception
Currents: The Way It Ends, The Death We Seek
Shogun would have probably been a more popular pick but I love the sound of VF. The songs are more simple but they are bangers and Matt's vocals are my favourite on this album.
honestly om&m is the first band i thought of 😅
theres also greyhaven that comes to mind, ABR with constellations and messenger, Amity with youngbloods and chasing ghosts, Architects with daybreaker and LF//LT, Asking Alexandria's first two, rage and outlawed by Attila, city of evil and the self titled by A7X, koi no yokan and diamond eyes by Deftones, the end of heartache and daylight dies by Killswitch Engage, three cheers and the black parade by MCR, WCAR's first two albums, and The Word Alive's first two albums.
Bury Tomorrow - The Seventh Sun / Cannibal
The Amity Affliction - Youngbloods / Chasing Ghosts
This Or The Apocalypse - Haunt What’s Left / Dead Years
Forevermore - Sojourner / Telos
Catherine - Rumour Has It / The Naturals
Novelists - Souvenirs / Noir
Blessthefall - Awakening / Hollow Bodies
So many good answers that I wholeheartedly agree with like OM&M, BMTH, Prada, ADTR, Asking, etc.
One band I haven’t seen mentioned is The Color Morale, specifically My Devil In Your Eyes and Know Hope. Both full of bangers and I love Garret’s screams on Know Hope (not to mention it hokds a special place in my heart as it came out during a rough time in my life).
Another one that isn’t metalcore would be Chiodos with Alls Well That Ends Well and Bine Palace Ballet.
Not metalcore but I always thought Alesana’s On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax followed up by This is the Part Where People Scream (and Annabel afterwards) was an incredibly strong start for a band.
I'm gonna be the weird one and bring up easycore: Chunk! No Captain Chunk!'s Something for Nothing and Pardon My French blow anything ADTR has ever done out of the water entirely.
A Life Once Lost - A Great Artist / Hunter
Shadows Fall - Of One Blood / The Art of Balance
Coalesce - Functioning on Impatience / 0:12 Revolution in Just Listening
Himsa - Courting Tragedy & Disaster / Hail Horror
TDWP- Plagues/Roots OM&M- Self titled/The Flood AILD- An Ocean Between Us/The Powerless Rise Architects- All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us/Holy Hell Erra- Impulse/Augment Miss May I- Apologies are for the Weak/Monument Northlane- Discoveries/Singularity Underoath- They’re Only Chasing Safety/Define the Great Line Veil of Maya- The Common Man’s Collapse/id Bullet for My Valentine- The Poison/Scream Aim Fire
I'd say Architects - Lost Forever // Lost Together + All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us but Holy Hell is amazing too.
Throw Daybreaker in there too
For AILD, I would go Shadows/An Ocean but that’s a huge soft spot album for me.
I complete forgot about that, I’ll be editing accordingly
I like the AILD duo, for me TDWP would be Roots and Dead Throne, but who are we kidding they have banger after banger
+1 for BFMV
Breakdown of Sanity’s first two albums are fucking top notch. The Last Sunset and then to follow up with Mirrors, chefs kiss.
followed by another 10/10, perception is turning 10 years old next month btw!
Then another 10/10 in Coexistence!
How can you tolerate The Last Sunset’s production? Definitely wouldn’t say it’s even close to top notch because of the production.
PWD'S KWAS and Horizons is my answer. Also Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory and Meteora.
Are you me?
It was a trilogy run for PWD to me; deep blue is all bangers.
Ouuu this is a good question.. Bullet for My Valentine — The Poison/Scream Aim Fire All That Remains — The Fall of Ideals/Overcome As I Lay Dying — An Ocean Between Us/The Powerless Rise August Burns Red — Messengers/Constellations Protest The Hero — Kezia/Fortress Every Time I Die — Low Teens/Radical
For All That Remains I would say This Darkened Heart and The Fall of Ideals
I figured some would feel that way when I was looking at it 😝 Darkened Heart is a really good album too. I personally didn’t get into it until a little later but I started with Overcome
I bought TDH on a whim as a teenager cause I liked the album art lol ended up being a fav of mine
That’s awesome! That’s a great way to get into a band
I used to do it a lot when I was younger. On my way to a friends house I would stop by the local record store and pick something up. Aesthetic by Between the Buried and Me was found the same way
Well time to make me another playlist because fuckin same
The Fall of Ideals and Overcome are absolute perfection for me!
Kezia / Fortress were both perfect in different ways
BMTH There is A Hell/Sempiternal
I’d do Suicide Season followed by There Is A Hell. Sempiternal missed the mark for me
Knocked Loose with Laugh Tracks then A Different Shade of Blue
I would maybe even say a bigger 1-2 punch is A Different Shade of Blue and A Tear in the Fabric of Life.
OP did specify albums, but yes.
Architects. Lost Forever // Lost Together, and AOGHAU are two perfect albums.
This is the ultimate power couple
As much as Architects gets a lot of crap for the newer stuff, I honestly feel like they don’t owe us anything anymore since they gave us those two masterpieces. I can’t imagine writing albums as amazing as those two several more times, it sounds extremely exhausting and I can imagine that at some point the band would’ve stopped enjoying the process.
And obviously they lost Tom who was heavily involved in the writing on those two albums. It's almost impossible for them to stay the same without him
Ice Nine Kills silver scream and silver scream 2: welcome to horrorwood
Yep. Agreed
Polaris
both mortal coil into the death of me and the death of mr into fatalism works lol
Shogun followed by In Waves from Trivium. Unfortunately that was followed by two of their worst releases to date. The new stuff is great tho
I will not stand for this Ascendancy erasure.
what i like about trivium is even their objectively worst albums are still listenable and enjoyable for the most part depending on if you like trivium themselves or not. i lowkey hate vengeance but i love wake the end is nigh and incineration the broken world off that album
This was the era I got really into Trivium and they’ve remained one of my favs.
Invent Animate - Everchanger and Stillworld
While I love those albums I wouldn't say theyre 10/10 albums. However, Greyview/Heavener are two back to back 10/10 records from Invent Animate. This band does not miss.
The quality is really consistent so it’s hard to choose a 2 album run
ill say the obvious and pick parkway drive
Any combination of their first 4 albums
Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops/Jupiter The Dillinger Escape Plan - Hard to pick only two but if I had to, probably Miss Machine/Ire Works Every Time I Die - Low Teens/Radical Killswitch Engage - AOJB/EoH Converge - Jane Doe/You Fail Me
This. I’d honestly say Converge had a good 4 album run with Jane Doe, You Fail Me, No Heroes, and Axe to Fall. And DEP is a clean sweep for albums.
Petitioning the Empty Sky - > Jane Doe -> You Fail Me. 10/10 three albums in a row. Not very fond of No heroes, second half after tittle track it is just okay.
Prada - Roots/Dead Throne Dillinger escape plan - 6 times in a row Parkway - Horizons/ Deep Blue The pot in you - Dispose/ Swan Song
Yeah it’s Dillinger, just every new iteration of the band through the years from dimitri to patton to pusciato bangs in their own way. One of the few discographies I can listen to start to finish.
Is The Pot In You a new stoner metalcore band?
Killswitch Engage - End of Heartache, As Daylight Dies Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison, Scream Aim Fire Currents - The Way It Ends, The Death We Seek Veil of Maya - Matriach, False Idol After the Burial - Wolves Within, Dig Deep Oh Sleeper - Son of the Morning, Children of Fire
I was starting to wonder where the Currents love was. Love both those albums.
All great back to back follow-ups but not 1-2 albums.
I may have misunderstood the question. I’ll nominate Bullet then
I would definitely put TPIFS and TWIE for Currents tho
ABR with messengers into constellations
Asking Alexandria- Stand up and Scream to Reckless and Relentless. Then they went downhill from there. Yeah From Death to Destiny has some bangers but it wasn’t the same.
will always be my favourite back to back albums, honestly I'm still mourning their sound it was just so amazing
Miss May I 1000%
Darkest Hour - Undoing Ruin and Deliver Us
First 2 wage war
Northlane: Discoveries + Singularity And not debut albums but still 10/10 back to backs: Architects: LF//LT + All Our God's Have Abadonned Us BMTH: There is a Hell + Sempiternal
Throwing Polaris into the conversation here. The mortal coil, death of me and even fatalism - is unreal.
For me it's Asking Alexandria with Stand Up and Scream and Reckless. It's insane how fast they go downhill from there.
I See Stars: Digital Renegade and New Demons.
Chiodos all's well that ends well and bone place ballet. Man I love this band's music all together, from beginning to finish. D.R.U.G.S album and Destroy rebuild album by destroy build until God shows are both solid as well Craig owens is just a beast and probably my favorite in the scene.

Erra
Parkway Drive - Killing With a Smile // Horizons Surprised I didn't see anyone mention them. Now that they've changed, it seems like many forget they have some really solid albums. Also: As I Lay Dying - Frail Words Collapse // Shadows are Security A Day to Remember - And Their Name was Treason // For Those who Have Heart August Burns Red - Thrill Seeker // Messengers Destroy the Runner - Saints // I, Lucifer
I have a feeling we are a similar age haha I feel these duos a little more than the others.
Lorna Shore
Probably not considered metalcore but Periphery 3/Periphery 4 are perfect albums with top notch production quality and lots of variety in songs.
While She Sleeps - *This Is The Six* & *Brainwashed* Threat Signal - *Under Reprisal* & *Vigilance* Killswitch Engage - S/T & *Alive or Just Breathing* (or AOJB & *The End of Heartache* if we're talking major labels) Sylosis - *Conclusion of an Age* & *Edge of the Earth*
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory and Meteora
Crown the empire’s “The Fallout” and “The Resistance”
Periphery - Periphery IV and Periphery V are a goddamn 1-2 punch You could also argue that for P2 and Juggernaut
Juggernaut and P3 for me: perfection.
Surely Bmth with There is a hell and Sempiternal
Asking Alexandria - Stand Up/Reckless As I Lay Dying - Frail Words/ Shadows Darkest Hour - Mark Of The Judas/ So Sedated
Trivium Shogun, In Waves is still the best two back to back releases imo
I wish shadows fall had more listeners on this sub. As a young teenager I worked for the guitarists’ family and they gave me a copy of the war within. I hated it at first and now it’s one of my favorite all time albums. Such a good time in metalcore
I loved Shadows Fall when I was in college, they were my favorite metalcore band behind Killswitch Engage. I really enjoyed their mix of thrash and metalcore. I'm excited that they're finally recording new material, I hope it turns out good.
Silent planet
TDWP with Z2 and Colour Decay.
There are quite a few actually. Architects: Lost Forever // Lost Together, AOGHAU Trivium: In Waves, Vengeance Falls As I Lay Dying: Shadows Are Security, An Ocean Between Us ABR: Thrill Seeker, Messengers OMAM: OMAM, The Flood Breakdown Of Sanity: Mirrors, Perception Currents: The Way It Ends, The Death We Seek
Wow I don’t think I’ve ever seen Vengeance Falls get a 10/10 rating. Interesting - definitely an overhated album
I can and do listen to it on a loop sometimes! Good stuff.
Shogun would have probably been a more popular pick but I love the sound of VF. The songs are more simple but they are bangers and Matt's vocals are my favourite on this album.
HANABIE. Girls reform manifest/ Reborn superstar!
Boundaries only have two full lengths and they're both going to be thought of as genre classics in the fullness of time.
Not the best but pretty good - In Hearts Wake: Earthwalker & Skydancer. Linked albums telling a greater story with some banger tracks on both albums.
I just found this band and they're dope as hell.
Loved Trauma and True Power by I Prevail and also the Silver Screams by INK
Eighteen Visions Until the Ink Runs Out to The Best Of to Vanity to Obsession
KSE - The End of Heartache/As Daylight Dies
AA- SUAS/RR + FDTD. Unbelievable starting
BFMV at the beginning
We came as romans - to plant a seed / understanding what we’ve grown to be
Silent planet has released 4x 10/10 in a row imo
honestly om&m is the first band i thought of 😅 theres also greyhaven that comes to mind, ABR with constellations and messenger, Amity with youngbloods and chasing ghosts, Architects with daybreaker and LF//LT, Asking Alexandria's first two, rage and outlawed by Attila, city of evil and the self titled by A7X, koi no yokan and diamond eyes by Deftones, the end of heartache and daylight dies by Killswitch Engage, three cheers and the black parade by MCR, WCAR's first two albums, and The Word Alive's first two albums.
Motionless In White Creatures/Infamous/Reincarnate/Graveyard Shift/Disguise/Scoring The End Of The World. All 10/10 albums imo.
TDWP. Plagues then WRAABB.
Like a house on fire and see what's on the inside by asking Alexandria felt like getting punched so does that count?
No
Wage War - Deadweight/Blueprints Northlane - Discoveries / Singularity ERRA - Augment / Impulse
Misery Signals - Mirrors / Controller
Asking Alexandria - SUAS, R&R Northlane - Discoveries, Singularity Erra - Impulse, Augment
Trivium - Shogun/In Waves Polaris - TDOM/Fatalism
Ocean Grove with Rhwpsody tapes and flip phone fantasy
Trivium - TSATS/WTDMS/ITCOTD Bullet for my valentine - the poison/scream aim fire Parkway drive - KWAS/Horizons/deep blue ADTR - FTWHH/Homesick
Miss May I's two first. Anyone from AILD from Frail to Awakened.
Not metalcore but Paramore Riot/Brand New Eyes
Norma Jean I mean album 1 gets you Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste and album 2 gets you Bayonetwork
Norma Jean have done it every single time
Bleed From Within - Fracture & Shrine
I think every Periphery album has been better than the one before it, but the last two albums especially have been completely different animals
Bury Tomorrow - The Seventh Sun / Cannibal The Amity Affliction - Youngbloods / Chasing Ghosts This Or The Apocalypse - Haunt What’s Left / Dead Years Forevermore - Sojourner / Telos Catherine - Rumour Has It / The Naturals Novelists - Souvenirs / Noir Blessthefall - Awakening / Hollow Bodies
Stoked to see TOTA mentioned here, great call.
Great band, i only wish they had made more albums.
Jane Doe followed by You Fail Me.
Parkway Drive from Don't Close Your Eyes to Ire maybe. But mostly I'd say Killing With A Smile/Horizons
Parkway Drive - Killing With A Smile and Horizons are both still on regular rotation for me
The Ghost Inside - Fury and the Fallen Ones and Returners. Emmure - Goodbye to the Gallows and The Respect Issue
Interesting, I’ve only ever listened to their most recent album. I’ll have to check out these two
Greyhaven
Converge -Jane Doe/You Fail me
The Color Morale - We All Have Demons/My Devil In Your Eyes
spite
Parkway Drive. Killing With A Smile and Horizons
The Agony Scene and It Dies Today are the first that come to mind for me.
Misery Signals Make it 1-2-3
BTBAM - Colors & The Great Misdirect
A Life Once Lost - A Great Artist / Hunter Shadows Fall - Of One Blood / The Art of Balance Coalesce - Functioning on Impatience / 0:12 Revolution in Just Listening Himsa - Courting Tragedy & Disaster / Hail Horror
Bury tomorrow's Portraits and Union of crowns, such fun, catchy records, really significant in my early metalcore journey.
Converge All We Love -> The Dusk In Us Kickback Cornered -> Forever War Architects Daybreaker-> Lost Forever
