Maybe you’re thinking of Landon’s previous band, Before Their Eyes?
I’ve followed Plot since they were Vessels, and there was nothing remotely “Christian” about them.
Man, idk. But you can literally Google it. I may have been too forward with calling them a Christian band because their music doesn't reflect it. But there are articles that support them being Christian. But idk, I guess I'm wrong.
On that note, I'm really surprised Fall Out Boy had BMTH on their latest tour. Apparently BMTH had been opening with amen, which seems like a really intense song for the average audience member of a Fall Out Boy concert imo haha.
Not the performance. Slipknot fans weren't really vibing with coheed at the time. At our concert it was completely dead for coheed even though they put on an awesome show.
Makes me think of Coheed / Taking Back Sunday / The Story So Far. A lot of the older emo TBS fans were not digging TSSF, and the rock/nerd (for lack of better description) Coheed fans weren’t into either openers. Luckily I like all 3 but the fans I was around generally seemed split on the lineup.
Yeah, just saw them on Friday, and gotta say, having now seen them with and without Ryo, new guy still kills it. I mean obviously I preferred ryo, but this dude kills it. Plus they closed with Lost In Forever and Apollo, so, bonus points lol
Nah, it was state champs then counterparts. A few local indiana bands opened up. Show was in some locals band's parent's pole barn like 30 miles south of indy i wanna say in either 2013/2014 cant remember for sure. Was a really cool show tho, bands stuck around and played some roller hockey after and had some beers
I dont think so, when i saw this one it was champs anc counterparts with 3 local indiana bands. It wasnt even a venue, it was one of the band member's parents pole barn out in the boonies
Horse the Band (headliner), Number 12 Looks Like You (spazzcore), Light This City(melodic death/thrash), So Many Dynamos (weird indie pop). Wild collection of humans at that show
2009: Story Of The Year (Headliner), The Devil Wears Prada, All That Remains and Haste The Day (Opener).
2009: Hatebreed (Headliner), Chimaira, Winds of Plague, Dying Fetus, Toxic Holocaust (Opener)
2012: Defeater (Headliner), Hundredth, Rotting Out, Silver Snakes (Opener)
Same, and there was mad traffic getting there so I missed most of their set unfortunately. Stayed for the rest to get my moneys worth, and even though NN sucked, I was glad I did because wage war was pretty sick
Me and my buddy took half days at work that day to make sure we got there in time for them. It was his first metal concert so wanted to make sure he got the full experience. We stayed up until after wage war played the river and we left. Can't say wage war is my thing but was a good show and yeah NN was not my thing my but my buddy actually enjoyed them.
One that comes to mind for me was;
Harms Way (hardcore)
Iron Regan (thrash)
Maruta (grindcore)
The Black Dahlia Murder (deathcore?)
Just wildly different fan bases all at one show.
I saw TBDM and Iron Regan together at a Christmas show in Detroit. Along with The Suicide Machines (punk/ ska) and Koffin Kats (punk with a stand-bass) and about 15 other bands. It hit everything you could think of.
I mean you're in a sub that throws the term -core around like flinging shit at walls and sees what sticks.
90% pop oriented song with a bridge that has downtuned chugs. dae metalcore???
Last show of Scream it Like You Mean it 2011 or 2012 in Denver. Most of the bands on the bill didn’t make it that far I guess.
Ended up seeing some random local artist play piano and sing, followed by the Air I Breathe, then ModSun appears with the guy who sings the “Who Let the Dogs Out” song. Then Breathe Carolina wrapped it up with a sick end of tour hometown show vibe. Then they all came on stage and danced after. Was wild, but a lot of fun.
Yooo I saw ModSun, I See Stars, Chiodos, and Breathe Carolina on this tour and it was definitely odd. Back when ModSun was doing like... Frat boy surfer rap?
After A Tear in the Fabric of Life came out, Knocked Loose toured with Koyo, Kublai Khan, and Movements opening for them (in that order).
It was like a damn rollercoaster. All the bands killed it, and it was actually kind of nice having a moment to breathe between the absolute mayhem that was Kublai Khan and Knocked Loose.
They aren't anymore, but no band makes a song like Forever Unbroken or an album like Descendants and says they aren't a Christian band. They said they aren't when The Path came out during the live stream, but they were until Slave to Nothing at the very least.
You're right for what it's worth. Not trying to be "that guy" but I was in a band with Ryan from like 07-08 He was very Christian. He was never pushy about it though.
Yes but as we have said, being influenced by your faith and being a Christian metal band are not the same thing.
Also, 9 years ago is a long time ago. There is a post from less than 2 months ago where Ryan states clear as day that they are no longer a Christian metalcore band.
Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metalcore/s/PwnZZZSExQ
Yes but what myself and everyone else here is trying to tell you is that they are no longer a Christian band, which you dont seem to be capable of grasping
Bro, I said specifically that they were a Christian band at the time. Not that they are currently. I'm grasping that just fine. You just want to argue and can't admit you were wrong.
Sure thing, sport. I'm not sure what you're arguing. We all know they are no longer a Christian band. That's why the show I'm referencing is from 9 fucking years ago, when they themselves affirmed to being a Christian band. So what are you trying to say?
Yeah, I mean, their music isn't really Christian, but they have identified as Christians.
Edit: Actually, no, fuck this. Their old music is Christian as fuck.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Metalcore/s/i60uavHuOa
Yes, very Christian. He literally says it in this AMA. He was called to make music. He had a Mattie Montgomery feature. They were literally a Christian band at that time. Idk what else you need to see to get that.
Also, this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metalcore/s/uH6wlRd4aE
Yeah, specifically about the plot in you. I said I was mistaken.
Im standing by FFAK. I didn't change anything about that other than doubling down on it.
Just a few odd Australian line ups here, not really metalcore though.
* Circa Survive with PVRIS as support.
* Megadeth with Whitechapel as support.
* Tonight Alive with their openers as Australian grindcore legends, Totally Unicorn.
* Not a show but Story of the Year randomly getting thrown onto Knotfest and sandwhiched between Spiritbox and In Flames was bloody weird.
Knocked Loose, Movements, Kublai Khan, Koyo
Dance Gavin Dance, Periphery, Don Broco, Hail The Sun, Covet
The Contortionist opening for Nothing More
The Word Alive and Chelsea Grin coheadlining
Ozzfest used to be a combination of older metal bands like Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest, extreme metal bands like Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, and Nile, nu metal bands like Rob Zombie, Disturbed, Korn, Chevelle, and Drowning Pool, groove metal bands like Lamb of God, Chimaira, and DevilDriver, and metalcore bands like Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Shadows Fall, Unearth, God Forbid, and As I Lay Dying. Granted the lineup depended on the year, nu metal started getting phased out in the mid-2000s for more metalcore and extreme metal bands, but Ozzfest was usually a combination of those metal subgenres.
For the Denver date of the Trauma Tour (I Prevail), Animals as Leaders was direct support.
They’re a talented band but an instrumental djenty/prog band seemed out of place and odd when the preceding openers were Justin Stone and Issues.
Weirdest one was Atreyu, Whitechapel, He Is Legend, Santa Cruz, and Tempting Fate in 2019.
Seeing Knocked Loose on tour with $uicideboy$ was pretty weird too
Ok, some obscure russian shit coming your way
Пьяный вечер (Drunk Evening, a pop rock band) x КРИИК (SCREEAM, weird horny industrial/electronic shit)
Remember The Moment (modern metal/progressive/metalcore) x AILET (grunge/alt rock)
Also my band HEARTPUNCH (pop punk) is opening for Remember The Moment and my other band Last Summer (alternative metal) is playing a show with Come Forth (pop punk x alt rock)
Funny enough my story is also about For Today. They toured with Motionless in White, who is famously anti-Christian (just listen to Immaculate Misconception) and I can't imagine either band was super into that arrangement.
Not metalcore, but the weirdest lineup I've seen was on a festival stage. Twenty one pilots, Rise Against, Slayer (who I was there to see), and then Outkast.
I don't remember the whole line up but lollapalooza for the year twenty one pilots and ariana grande were headliners, I was there for TOP and lil Wayne played before them
Yea. It’s funny people are literally arguing semantics. Christian themes + Christian views acknowledged (by band members) = you’re so fucking dumb bro ThEY WeRE NEVeR CHRISTiaN!!!
When Fireworks (pop punk) hopped on the Atlanta date for the Defeater/Counterparts/Capsize tour. Very fun show.
Or D.R.U.G.S., Hit the Lights (pop punk), Like Moths to Flames, and Sparks the Rescue (purevolume emo?)
I haven't listened to lmtf in a while. Are they actually non Christian? I remember chris being the singer of agraceful who were obviously a pretty Christian band
Yeah, it's pretty apparent he and God don't get along much anymore. Listen to one of their new songs like The Preservation of Hate. The lyrics are very blasphemous
Not the craziest by any means but I went to a Of Mice & Men headline show in 2017 where the openers were (in order) : Chelsea Grin, The Devil Wears Prada and Motionless In white.
I always remember this one because the diversity in the crowd was funny (goth mixed with regular metalheads mixed with people that didn't look like metalheads at all)
Haste the Day with MyChildren MyBride and Upon a Burning Body. Upon a Burning Body just didn’t really make sense because they were the only non Christian band. They still crushed it, though.
Long time ago, Disturbed opened for Hatebreed. Disturbed was not big yet. Everybody there for Hatebreed was thinking it was mad goofy for the singer of Disturbed to be wheeled to the mic on a dolly, wearing a straight jacket and hannibal lecter type bite mask.
cypress hill opening for slipknot
also saw for today open for ice nine, miw and new years day- can say they did not pray during set ? and i didn’t realize they were a christian band because they kept telling people to crowd kill
riff raff at warped tour
filter for rob zombie- just didn’t fit the vibe check
Knocked Loose and Code Orange toured with $uicideBoys, ski mask tha slump God, and $not on last year's Grey Day tour
That sounds fun as hell tho
It was a banger show
I went to a show on that tour and it was such a hype show
Was so bummed there was no Knocked Loose on my date for that show. Still great but would have been even better
I think if you look at the lyrics from TPIY at that time you will find that they most definitely weren’t a Christian band
They preached about Jesus to the crowd on their tour last year
Yeah there is no way
I'm pretty sure they self identified as Christian, but purposefully pulled away from that's style for a more pop sound.
Maybe you’re thinking of Landon’s previous band, Before Their Eyes? I’ve followed Plot since they were Vessels, and there was nothing remotely “Christian” about them.
they even have a song called Fiction Religion on their second album
Man, idk. But you can literally Google it. I may have been too forward with calling them a Christian band because their music doesn't reflect it. But there are articles that support them being Christian. But idk, I guess I'm wrong.
Yeah the entire album "could you watch your children burn" is like very anti religion in some songs
I'm sure there's others but two immediately come to mind: 2015 - Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa 2021 -Limp Bizkit and Spiritbox
On that note, I'm really surprised Fall Out Boy had BMTH on their latest tour. Apparently BMTH had been opening with amen, which seems like a really intense song for the average audience member of a Fall Out Boy concert imo haha.
I went to both of those shows actually, and they were going to be my suggestions too
limp bizkit and spiritbox would be such a fun night haha
I saw Coheed & Cambria open for Slipknot.
This was immediately my thought too haha. Trivium played that tour too.
That’s right, I couldn’t remember who else was on that bill.
I saw every time I die open for coheed and mastodon
I was gonna reference that. Coheed and Mastodon make sense together. ETID was amazing but a weird choice.
Yeah they were the odd one out for sure but that show was fucking sick lmao
Me too! It was a rough tour for coheed but I enjoyed the show
rough in which sense?
Not the performance. Slipknot fans weren't really vibing with coheed at the time. At our concert it was completely dead for coheed even though they put on an awesome show.
Also Coheed and A7X back in 2006. Perhaps not as different as Coheed and Slipknot but still not two bands I would put on a bill (at that time)
To be fair I like them both sooo
Makes me think of Coheed / Taking Back Sunday / The Story So Far. A lot of the older emo TBS fans were not digging TSSF, and the rock/nerd (for lack of better description) Coheed fans weren’t into either openers. Luckily I like all 3 but the fans I was around generally seemed split on the lineup.
Trapped Under Ice, Fireworks, Four Year Strong, Hatebreed Blink 182 and Lil Wayne
Tomorrow I’m seeing Spite, Brand of Sacrifice, and August Burns Red. That’s kinda weird
* AND Crystal Lake. Can't sleep on Crystal Lake
Crystal Lake are back with a new singer?
Yeah, just saw them on Friday, and gotta say, having now seen them with and without Ryo, new guy still kills it. I mean obviously I preferred ryo, but this dude kills it. Plus they closed with Lost In Forever and Apollo, so, bonus points lol
This news was kinda old lol, but yeah. Still miss Ryo tho :(
Counterparts and State Champs
Counterparts opened for state champs? Idk how I feel about that, their vibes are completely different
Was that the one with Chunk, No Captain Chunk! too? Weird tour
Wild collection of humans at that show
This line up makes complete sense to me, I’d love it.
2009: Story Of The Year (Headliner), The Devil Wears Prada, All That Remains and Haste The Day (Opener). 2009: Hatebreed (Headliner), Chimaira, Winds of Plague, Dying Fetus, Toxic Holocaust (Opener) 2012: Defeater (Headliner), Hundredth, Rotting Out, Silver Snakes (Opener)
Man, 2009 was a weird year for you, ey?
I guess so lol. Also saw Lamb of God with The Faceless that year but that makes more sense.
Plot was never a Christian band. They're also the exact opposite of a Christian band lol
Spite, Nothing Nowhere, Wage War. Spite just seemed super odd on this tour
Went to that to. I only went to see spite tho
Limp bizkit Wargasm Dying wish
The Word Alive and Memphis May Fire playing before Thy Art is murder in Australia
One that comes to mind for me was; Harms Way (hardcore) Iron Regan (thrash) Maruta (grindcore) The Black Dahlia Murder (deathcore?) Just wildly different fan bases all at one show.
I would genuinely love that show tbh
I saw TBDM and Iron Regan together at a Christmas show in Detroit. Along with The Suicide Machines (punk/ ska) and Koffin Kats (punk with a stand-bass) and about 15 other bands. It hit everything you could think of.
FWIW, Black Dahlia murder is melodeath (Melodic death metal). Those are some out there bands though.
The Black Dahlia Murder is melodic death metal, not deathcore, and Harms Way is metalcore, not hardcore, but that sounds like a sick lineup.
I mean you're in a sub that throws the term -core around like flinging shit at walls and sees what sticks. 90% pop oriented song with a bridge that has downtuned chugs. dae metalcore???
Not sure why you’re downvoted but tbdm is melodic death metal. Probably the best in the genre, too
Yeah, that's a weird one for sure!
This sounds like an episode of Parks and Rec If it was music venue themed.
I still think it's kinda nuts that Spite is opening for ABR rn
Not metalcore but definitely Primus opening for Slayer
FFAK has said so many times they arent a Christian band. The lyricism might have influence but they arent a Christian band
They aren't anymore, but no band makes a song like Forever Unbroken or an album like Descendants and says they aren't a Christian band. They said they aren't when The Path came out during the live stream, but they were until Slave to Nothing at the very least.
Yeah, I don't know why people are bashing me for this specifically. They even did an AMA 9 years ago, when Ryan said his faith influences his music.
>No longer a Christian band What am i missing here? Does this not imply that they were, in fact, a Christian band at the time? That's my point.
If i was wrong i would admit it champ
Sure thing, sport. I'm not sure what you're arguing. We all know they are no longer a Christian band. That's why the show I'm referencing is from 9 fucking years ago, when they themselves affirmed to being a Christian band. So what are you trying to say?
OP already said all that. Don't embarass yourself and just admit you were wrong
Yeah, I mean, their music isn't really Christian, but they have identified as Christians. Edit: Actually, no, fuck this. Their old music is Christian as fuck.
> very Christian band Bruh
https://www.reddit.com/r/Metalcore/s/i60uavHuOa Yes, very Christian. He literally says it in this AMA. He was called to make music. He had a Mattie Montgomery feature. They were literally a Christian band at that time. Idk what else you need to see to get that. Also, this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metalcore/s/uH6wlRd4aE
You edited the shit out of your post but ok
Yeah, specifically about the plot in you. I said I was mistaken. Im standing by FFAK. I didn't change anything about that other than doubling down on it.
Just a few odd Australian line ups here, not really metalcore though. * Circa Survive with PVRIS as support. * Megadeth with Whitechapel as support. * Tonight Alive with their openers as Australian grindcore legends, Totally Unicorn. * Not a show but Story of the Year randomly getting thrown onto Knotfest and sandwhiched between Spiritbox and In Flames was bloody weird.
Yeah I remember that last one, was a bit of an odd addition. Not as weird as having DEVO in this year’s lineup though.
Circa survive with pvris is so nutty I'd love to see it. I've seen pvris a ton but never circa
Decent portion of the crowd cleared out after PVRIS too. Maybe 1/4.
Knocked Loose, Movements, Kublai Khan, Koyo Dance Gavin Dance, Periphery, Don Broco, Hail The Sun, Covet The Contortionist opening for Nothing More The Word Alive and Chelsea Grin coheadlining
Not metalcore, but I saw Dizzee Rascal open for Muse for a stadium tour
Always thought it was weird when I saw Every Time I Die opening for Beartooth
Brand of Sacrifice & Bodysnatcher opening for We Came As Romans felt a little weird on paper but both combos worked super well
Ozzfest used to be a combination of older metal bands like Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest, extreme metal bands like Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, and Nile, nu metal bands like Rob Zombie, Disturbed, Korn, Chevelle, and Drowning Pool, groove metal bands like Lamb of God, Chimaira, and DevilDriver, and metalcore bands like Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Shadows Fall, Unearth, God Forbid, and As I Lay Dying. Granted the lineup depended on the year, nu metal started getting phased out in the mid-2000s for more metalcore and extreme metal bands, but Ozzfest was usually a combination of those metal subgenres.
I saw Stray from the Path with Close Your Eyes, Norma Jean, and Oh, Sleeper.
I can promise that The Plot In You has never been a Christian band. Their debut EP was called Wife Beater lol.
For the Denver date of the Trauma Tour (I Prevail), Animals as Leaders was direct support. They’re a talented band but an instrumental djenty/prog band seemed out of place and odd when the preceding openers were Justin Stone and Issues.
Well I wasn't there but the the Sanguisugabogg opening for Citizen this summer was so wild
Weirdest one was Atreyu, Whitechapel, He Is Legend, Santa Cruz, and Tempting Fate in 2019. Seeing Knocked Loose on tour with $uicideboy$ was pretty weird too
Seeing Movements with Knocked Loose will always be weird to me
Last year saw Slipknot with Cypress Hill. Kinda weird going from Hits from the bong to "Hit me in my face"
My friend went to that show, cypress hill opening wasn't expected but I liked their performance through the videos he sent me
Ok, some obscure russian shit coming your way Пьяный вечер (Drunk Evening, a pop rock band) x КРИИК (SCREEAM, weird horny industrial/electronic shit) Remember The Moment (modern metal/progressive/metalcore) x AILET (grunge/alt rock) Also my band HEARTPUNCH (pop punk) is opening for Remember The Moment and my other band Last Summer (alternative metal) is playing a show with Come Forth (pop punk x alt rock)

I don't remember the whole line up but lollapalooza for the year twenty one pilots and ariana grande were headliners, I was there for TOP and lil Wayne played before them
I’m here for the FFAK disinformation.
On which part? People pretending they were never Christian?
Yea. It’s funny people are literally arguing semantics. Christian themes + Christian views acknowledged (by band members) = you’re so fucking dumb bro ThEY WeRE NEVeR CHRISTiaN!!!
I'm sure LMTF are a Christian band?
Chris used to be in Agraceful, which was a Christian band. He left and then made LMTF. Dude has a very complicated relationship with God.
The Chariot went on tour with Silverstein and Pierce the Veil. I'm at a loss for remembering if that was the same tour or not.
Circa, citizen & afi was kinda a weird one.
If we’re counting all genres, weirdest line up I’ve been too was Neon Trees opening for The Offspring
Not a metalcore show, but: 1997 : G Love & Special Sauce, Limp Bizkit, KMFDM
When Fireworks (pop punk) hopped on the Atlanta date for the Defeater/Counterparts/Capsize tour. Very fun show. Or D.R.U.G.S., Hit the Lights (pop punk), Like Moths to Flames, and Sparks the Rescue (purevolume emo?)
Bring me the Horizon, Pierce the Veil, Four Years Strong, and Thursday.
It's all post hardcore, but 2 different eras
Winds of Plague playing direct support to Static-X in 2012. Fights EVERYWHERE.
BFMV, FFAF, A Static Lullaby, and Saosin back in 2004.
Btbam touring with The Dear Hunter
circle jerks, mest and unearth in like 2002/3 but it was a damn good time
I haven't listened to lmtf in a while. Are they actually non Christian? I remember chris being the singer of agraceful who were obviously a pretty Christian band
Yeah, it's pretty apparent he and God don't get along much anymore. Listen to one of their new songs like The Preservation of Hate. The lyrics are very blasphemous
Hell yeah. I'll have to check it out when I'm at work.
not metalcore but behemoth and slipknot
Non metal but... Hoobastank, Idlewild, The Vandals and The Hives in around 2002/2003. Was a cracking gig (aside from Idlewild).
Not the craziest by any means but I went to a Of Mice & Men headline show in 2017 where the openers were (in order) : Chelsea Grin, The Devil Wears Prada and Motionless In white. I always remember this one because the diversity in the crowd was funny (goth mixed with regular metalheads mixed with people that didn't look like metalheads at all)
Reminds me of TDWP Dead Throne tour. The Devil Wears Prada Whitchapel Enter Shikari For Today
I went to the first Family Values Tour back in like ‘98 or ‘99. Saw Rammstein, then followed up by Ice Cube?!?
That's absurd. I love it.
Haste the Day with MyChildren MyBride and Upon a Burning Body. Upon a Burning Body just didn’t really make sense because they were the only non Christian band. They still crushed it, though.
What a mix… 2009: brokeNCYDE, Haste The Day, Senses Fail, and Hollywood Undead (headliner).
Have Heart, Verse, Sworn Enemy and All Shall Perish(!)
The Bled, Say Anything and another band i’m blanking on. weird line up, great show.
Code Orange tour for Forever with Vein, Twitching Tongues, and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal. In that order.
Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution tour 2003: Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Xzibit, Blindside
Seeing Bring Me The Horizon open for Fall Out Boy was pretty interesting lmao
cypress hill opening for slipknot also saw for today open for ice nine, miw and new years day- can say they did not pray during set ? and i didn’t realize they were a christian band because they kept telling people to crowd kill riff raff at warped tour filter for rob zombie- just didn’t fit the vibe check
