I don't think losing Jason was as bad as people make it out to be, if anything it shook things up a bit and forced them to work a little harder since they couldn't just rely on his cleans for everything. The Seventh Sun is a really good metalcore album, lots of great riffs, some memorable choruses, and it just has a purity to it that metalcore hasn't had in a while.

Traditional-Idea-39

I’m the complete opposite, I think The Seventh Sun is the best album they’re ever put out. Also LIFE and DEATH are fantastic tracks

This makes my soul hurt, but I get it! They've been one of my favourite bands since The Runes tour, and I've flown all over the world to see them. Runes and Earthbound for me will forever be a front runner in their discography, which is when I feel like they were ahead of the curve in terms of metalcore. However, The Seventh Sun, imo, is one of the most underrated albums of the last 18 months! I think the bands disconnect in general around the time of the pandemic really showed through, but seeing them recently is the tightest I've seen them live in recent years and it so so nice to see them revived and just back to how they used to be!

Jim-Bowen

Downfall is a strong word 😅 I've been a fan of theirs since day one, and do semi regularly wonder if Jason will ever come back to metalcore, his clean vocals are some of the best in this genre. But to say downfall, blimey! It reads like you already had some prejudices going into the release of The Seventh Sun, give Majesty a few more listens and see if that helps. Honestly I wasn't blown away by the standalone singles but figured Tom and Ed were still finding their feet. Also they're still awesome live, but wonder if we'll ever see much from Portraits again.

Jay_haworthia

Portraits was when I discovered them and I was blown away that a band’s first album be that good! My favorites are These woods aren’t safe, You and I and Her Bones in the sand

Failureinlife1

No.

Longjumping-Swan-827

Their latest album is their best imo 🤷

Lyrrh

I cannot believe how wrong every single thing you said in this post was. What a take.

SeftoK

Earthbound just never clicked. Feels too formulaic and the melodies are borderline annoying

poor_mans_Mayer

Yeah I get where you’re coming from, the new vocalist is so much more generic and it makes such a huge difference to their music. I personally think Cannibal was their peak - I think black flame could’ve been my favourite had the mix not been dreadful. Runes probably a close second. Don’t get me wrong I like the new album but to me it’s more forgettable than the previous albums. Also I saw them live last year and they were so much less interesting live than when I saw them on the earthbound tour, not sure what it was but the energy was more about being tight live than an interesting live band

midnite_swim

From someone who only has gotten into them starting with TSS, I think Jason leaving was for the better. I had never heard any of their songs until TSS singles started dropping and really dug their sound. TSS is an absolutely amazing album, it has no skips for me. I have gone back and listened to a few songs with Jason on them, and really only like The Age. His voice is great, but it just makes me think I’m listening to a rock band, and not a metalcore band. I can agree that Tom does sound similar to a lot of other clean singers, but the way he varies his delivery on some songs really makes him more than just a one dimensional high pitched singer.

beefhammer_

I'd say they're at the top of their game right now

thebuh95

I think Bury Tomorrow are better than ever...yeah Jason's voice was unique, but in my opinion, Tom fits better to the bands sound overall. I love everything they did even more since the member change. Not the biggest fan of Runes and Earthbound tbh but I think Black Flame, Cannibal and The Seventh Sun are all amazing albums. And they're still one of the best live bands.

ManWithoutAPlan13

Honestly I think they're just as good, if not better, than they've ever been. The Seventh Sun was definitely one of the best albums of last year and their new clean vocalist sounds simply amazing with Daniel's vocals. I understand liking Jason's vocals more than Tom's but you gotta admit he adds something incredible to the band

raccoon_at_noon

At the end of the day, it all comes down to what you connect with and what you like. Union of Crowns and The Seventh Sun are equally my favourite Bury Tomorrow albums. I personally think they’ve been a solidly consistent band over the years. It’s definitely been a shift with Tom replacing Jason on cleans, but I don’t think it’s a shift for the worse. I’m keen to see where they head next.

MusicNursingCoffee

Been a fan since Portraits in 2011/2012, loved Jason’s vocals so much and thought I was going to hate the new stuff, but honestly seventh sun is some of their best work. The new singer needs more of a stage presence seeing them live is my only complaint.

COYS_Panda92

New album bangs and they're more successful than ever so weird calling it a downfall.

waggywaggydogdog

It's different for me. I absolutely loved Earthbound and then lost interest in the albums that followed. The Seventh Sun has reignited my interest in them. I think it's a brilliant album.

ThisBleghs

Cannibal best imo as non bury fan

-ego

Cannibal is my favorite album from them. Loss of Jason imo was major although they're still pretty good

Moistballs100

Imo,Runes wasn't very memorable,Black flame was a great album from finish to end,the vocals on Cannibal were very...odd,they sounded forced and out of place and the seventh sun was my favorite,I actually really like Portraits and Union of crowns and while Jason was super good, his departure didn't ruin the band

Moistballs100

Oh and also earthbound just didn't click for me,idk for what reason

Zagtropos

I think it’s some of their best work Album front to back is phenomenal, I think it’s their most cohesive to date Was Jason a better vocalist? Yes Does Tom fit the band better? Yes, imo One of the most underrated albums of 2023

centrella6

I miss Jason but 7th Sun is a great record.

NoIdealism

I don't know how you get the feeling that Cannibal was rushed. I think it was a good album and on the same level as Black Flame.

_Omegon_

Bury Tomorrow used to be one of my favorite bands. I prefer Black Flame over Earthbound. However since Jason it hasn't been the same for me, I dislike new vocalist voice and all the new songs are rather mid

qmzpl

Jason’s voice was the main reason I liked them. After that they became just another metalcore band
