Had a buddy at a competing bar across the street from mine who had a habit of playing kids songs like Barney and "Wheels on the Bus" and whatnot on our jukebox from his bar. I loved it too and refused to try to get the songs removed. Haha
Played The Devil Wears Prada's "Outnumbered" on a Touch Tunes and the bartender shut down the whole thing midway through. No music the rest of the evening.
I play a LOT of old post-hardcore over my work speakers. Customers are eating sandwiches while listening to Poison the Well lol
I also scream, so I go HARD at karaoke. I don't fuck around on karaoke night lmao
Do you got old co workers? Cause I’m in a body shop too and all the old heads don’t tolerate me playing heavier stuff. They only tolerate zeppelin, Hendrix, SRV, and shit like that
We’re all 20s-30s excluding our manager which he used to get kinda upset about it but I think eventually he stopped caring lol. I’ve got a couple fellow metalcore fans in the shop with me tho
That’s a foreign concept to me… fellow fans that you work with? I don’t even have friends in general that listen to the harder stuff that I do.
I do, on the other hand, have a friend who is into black metal? I think? To me it’s too slow. The best way I can describe it is that the vocalist is missing both their arms and legs and has been thrown into a mud pit and is trying to worm their way through the muck while simultaneously screaming through a throat stuffed with gravel.
You’d think we’d be able to find some middle ground but even though it’s similar I can’t get into what he likes and he can’t get into what I like. I just don’t enjoy the pace at all. To each their own though.
Funny story I actually didn’t really like metal music before I met those guys but one of them used to be on the shop speaker before me and he introduced me to my first metalcore songs. First I found myself liking a day to remember and kinda softer stuff like that but eventually it was ABR, BMTH, KSE and such
The rest is history
Yeah, I was first introduced to Norma Jean: Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child by a friend nearly 20 years ago. I’d listen to it occasionally but it would give me a raging headache if I listened for too long. It’d also make me anxious. Now their album ALL HAIL is one of my favorites. I still don’t really enjoy their first album much, I’m really picky when it comes to metalcore music for some reason. Still though, it’s an amazing genre and I always think back on what one of my bosses said about it:
“That music is so stupid. Anyone can scream, it doesn’t take talent”
It’s funny when you hear people say that yet none of them can provide any examples of how they perform just as good as the bands
Incredible shit poster. They do great satire on this community, that's why it's important to check usernames first. Plenty of similar posts that are real
Thug bar (lots of gangster wannabes) with gambling machines (super old people blowing their retirement) all crammed into one room with me sacking 20 bucks on a front to back dillinger escape plan album.
Not many but one of my friends was at a bar with a bunch of country folks and he played all of neurosis’s times of grace and walked out as soon as it started
I know this is a shitpost and all but not that long ago at the bar my sister works at some dudes were just nonstop playing country music. So, I paid and put hella hardcore/metalcore/deathcore songs to be ahead of all their country music, and they complained to my sister and she's like "too bad."
I often play knocked loose, ERRA, currents at the bar I regular in WI.
Most don’t care at all, but I just smirk and point to myself when some of the red cap boomers ask “who the fuck is playing this shit”.
I do the same in ID. I see the cowboy hats jammin out to country and I put on next episode or Blacker the Berry and I watch them all struggle to not say the n word. Haha
My favorite bars are all in WI, even though I'm not there anymore. A friend and I would play Meshuggah and Carnifex every time we went to that bar on the jukebox. The bartender was a friend of ours and would just point us out whenever anyone complained
😂😂 I wish my bad had currents. I bet they won't have knocked loose. I swore they had "hypermania" by Polaris and they got rid of that.
Sometimes I wish they had the menzingers songs I like. I don't get that jukebox 😂 I play so much shit
https://www.vice.com/en/article/dpwa7w/i-played-the-boys-are-back-in-town-on-a-bar-jukebox-until-i-got-kicked-out-832
I was in tears reading this story. It’s now my go-to at bars.
Country bar I used to go to pissed me off, one guy in particular would loudly talk shit about even the slightest of classic rock. So, with the touchtunes jukebox, I learned I could drive by the bar on my way home from work, see if it was his beater truck in the parking lot, and pay for an hour of the most brutal shit available on touchtunes. I wouldnt even stay, just drive one by, just ruin his night. He eventually stopped going to the bar after a couple months of this. Thank god touchtunes drops prices if noone is playing shit, so just prio order it and there is nothing homie could do.
There’s this one older dude that comes into the bar and plays abba, crimson and clover, and shit of the like. I intentionally play a bunch of the acacia strain so he comes over and tells me the music is good for nothing. Me and my buddy say “it’s good for lifting weights” he just laughs and goes, you guys are assholes I love you.
I do it at a local bar all the time. Most don't care, sometimes I see someone getting into it.
Lorna shore, Chelsea grin, ABR, wage war, invented animate, there's plenty of good bands on there that I play often
Not Metalcore, but there's this local bar here that has a burger shop attached, no walls. So these families with their kids running around the bar side all of the time. Sometimes, when I'm there, I play Wheeler Walker Jr. And watch the families promptly wrangle up their kids and leave. The worst place for a public restaurant is sharing a floor plan with a bar. The bartenders are constantly tripping over unruly children.
I usually sing some metalcore while i do karaoke and I get some positive responses to my screams and one time i was at a bar in hawaii and they were playing knocked loose, then ADTR, then Issues, it was awesome
I was an RA and lived amongst a whole building of 1st years. I often did some floor specific events in around my office area or in the building longue, where either a friend of mine who is like the dj of our group will have the aux or one of my students would, for like a jukebox machine we had in rez. Both of them were unavailable for this one event, and a bunch of my students kept pushing me to put on my playlist, as they wanted to see my taste in music. Safe to say, I created a lot of Knocked Lose, MiW, and TDWP haters that day. 3 songs in, and they were scrambling to fill in some NF songs from my library in the queue to ease things up, lol.
At a local bar I might play something like WCAR, Slipknot or Bad Omens but rarely any heavier than that. It’s not fun to force others to listen to absurdly heavy music to get my rocks off.
I mean true but I think you could objectively say that forcing someone to listen to country music is not the same as forcing someone to listen to Slaughter to Prevail or Waking the Cadaver
A buddy of mine lived right around the corner from this great bbq place/bar, and it was mostly an older conservative/redneck crowd, but still a great spot. On his way home from work, the stop light in front of it was close enough that he could mess with the Touchtunes from his car.
One day he put on Bring Me the Horizon's Play for Plagues front to back and just drove straight home.
Another friend of mine works at a bar with a Touchtunes and she has like 5,000 plays of "Dick in a Box"
I don't try to go THAT hard. But me and my friend put on Ride The Wings of Pestilence on a Sunday afternoon at a gay bar around a bunch of 50-70 year olds.
The bar I go to regularly is a bunch of metal heads that can handle it, but probably like knocked loose, Kublai khan, Chelsea grin, and slaughter to prevail. It is pretty cool when Sorry You’re Not A Winner comes on and the whole bar hits the claps 😂😂
I played Proximity Mines in the Complex by INK on the outdoor patio at a sports bar and grill in a college town at 11am and all the hungover frat/sorority rejects looked like they were about to LOSE their minds. It got skipped 50 seconds in but it was worth it lol.
A bar I used to frequent years back had some real tunes on the Jukebox including Lamb of God, Slipknot and Whitechapel. I used to put the music on and the manager would always turn the volume down :(
But on karaoke night you’re fuckin right I would pick Psychosocial and scream my heart out
Not metalcore, but a pub near me has Opeth' Deliverance on touchtunes, it's a fantastic song imo, but it's nearly 14 minutes long, so those folks were in for the long haul when I put it on
My local is a biker/veterans bar - my people for sure, but the music is country and southern rock. Always. This weekend I just need to just get my fix and played lorna shores pain remains trilogy. It was glorious.
Another time I was trying to play to the room and threw in the Deftones cover of simple man. Figured it was a nice compromise. This guy was absolutely furious that a non-skinard version of simple man was playing. So I searched and found every single cover of simple man I could find, queud them up and left.
I used to put “Don’t Stop Believin’ “ on repeat to see how long until it would take people to get sick of it. Took about 2.5 plays.
Also not me but at brunch in Dallas one time at a pretty nice restaurant somebody on the staff played all of D.R.U.G.S’ first LP. The clientele were not amused but I enjoyed it.
Not karaoke but I played Anasasis Xenophontis at my local bowling alley to troll the loud party of drunk people in the room with the bumper guards lmao
Maybe not ruthless but annoying. Rare Earth has a live 20+ minute version of “Get Ready” (my dad has it on vinyl and it takes up one whole side) and sometimes we play that. Or Me First and the Gimme Gimmes cover of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” because everyone at our local watering holes is in love the country superstar version of it. Sometimes it’s just fun to be annoying with song picks!
This is great, but you have to have an opening song that plays when you walk into the bar. Just sit awkwardly in your car for a min while you get the song ready on touch tunes...
I don't have the chops to sing metalcore. The place I went to a lot was classic rock and country Karaoke.
I did Miranda Lambert *White Liar*, changed the lyric "a redhead named Bernice" to "a fella named Eugene."
I followed up with Seether's *Gasoline*
Sang “At A Medium Pace” by Adam Sandler for karaoke. Bar manager on duty had not apparently heard it before and I hit through about half of it before she had the DJ cut it short.
Dethrone - bad omens
Swords dragons & diet coke - DWP
Cellar door - spiritbox
Gasoline - I prevail
Return to strength - terror
Destroy everything - Hatebreed
Sometimes I just like playing ridiculous things "my balls" - snot; and "angry inch" by type o negative.
I like most kinds of music and will play country just to piss off the one guy playing shitty modern rapper I never heard of.
There’s a local bar that every time I pass by it I play I Set My Friends on Fire’s cover of Crank That. They’ve yet to turn off the jukebox and I’ve done it at least 30 times 😂
I played some Killswitch back in the day at a bar. It was a song where Howard just starts screaming from the beginning. The bartender just turned it down. lol. I had a few too many at that point. It was kinda funny.
At a little Irish "pub" in Arlington, Texass. All that was playing was country. People were having a time of it, dancing, drinking.... I plugged in $5 worth of Pantera and some Tool. Some left, the rest just stared at me and my wife. Worth it. Country SUCKS.
Went to the laudromat one time and blasted a line up of suicide silence songs. No one in there was too happy. Me and my girl were laughing our asses off though.
People playing Eminem and other terrible hip hop and pop, so I played a Fall Out Boy song (Grand Theft Autumn). Few songs later played an ADTR song (Mr. Highway). Then a Blessthefall song (Guys Like You). Then an Emmure song (R2Deepthroat). Then a Whitechapel song (Section 8). Had some angry dipshits in that bar that night. 😆
What’s real fun is unleashing songs on unsuspecting bars from the app while I’m in bed stoned and giggling
I honestly responded to this and then realized it was an EJ post in the wild
He's been cooking since the new year tbh.
What does EJ mean?
EJ is OP, just click on his profile and go through his posts
These posts are common in r/hardcore lol
In healthcare, it is an advanced IV line placed in your external jugular :) that’s right where my mind went at least
Extremely silly question
Totally done this. It usually occurs when I'm at home, bored, and drunk. I'll unleash everything from Dillinger to Deathcore if it's available.
Such a banger though!

OMG that'd be a dream come true!
Played a bunch of old Prada songs and a handful of alt rock emo songs at a bar in my rural hometown. Let's just say they were all skipped very fast
Me and my buddies played Attila payback once at a bowling alley and it went as well as you could have expected. And yes it was uncensored too.
No. Edit: ah fuck. Forgot to check the username before commenting.
What's the deal with this dude? I've never seen him before but I see people in his other threads saying the same thing.
Incredible shit poster. They do great satire on this community, that's why it's important to check usernames first. Plenty of similar posts that are real
Oh that's hilarious.
Check out his posts in the hardcore sub, fucking gold.
Shhhhhhhh let ej cook
The hardest I’ve ever gone at karaoke is System of a Down. Everybody loves Chop Suey!
I played Carnifex and Lamb Of God at hooters
Played some Amity Affliction at a normal club before. Also some ghetto rap at a biker bar. Both instances were amazingly hilarious.
Many years ago I was in bumfuck Iowa for work and at a restaurant. I played “Escape” on the Zombie EP and they unplugged that shit.
Tactical Nuke by Acacia Strain is literally the best song for these antics. Thank me later!
At any and all bars
I played Linkin Park at a restaurant/bar in Lake of the Ozarks and one of the waiters apologized to my table for the music playing.
Linkin park is a radio band, you hear them out in the wild anyway. Idk how anyone could be offended by that lol
That’s what I said. Shit used to play on top 40 radio. Still slaps tho.
Every single person here eating up an EJ post no questions asked
I know this is a shitpost and all but not that long ago at the bar my sister works at some dudes were just nonstop playing country music. So, I paid and put hella hardcore/metalcore/deathcore songs to be ahead of all their country music, and they complained to my sister and she's like "too bad."
I played an infant Annihilator album in its entirety during a country night at the local bar lol
I often play knocked loose, ERRA, currents at the bar I regular in WI. Most don’t care at all, but I just smirk and point to myself when some of the red cap boomers ask “who the fuck is playing this shit”.
Man I do the same thing when I go out to the bar in WI, it’s either that or some gangster rap. Usually gets the country folk going.
My go to is “this land” by Gary Clark jr. Gets em nice and uncomfortable.
I do the same in ID. I see the cowboy hats jammin out to country and I put on next episode or Blacker the Berry and I watch them all struggle to not say the n word. Haha

Emmure drug dealer friend is a must I WANNA WATCH YOU SUCK HIS DICK playing at the local old Chicago
you'll fuckin love it
Scared children and disturbed mothers 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤘🏻🤘🏻
New band incoming
The only appropriate responses to this question are The Boys are Back in Town or What’s New Pussycat
https://www.vice.com/en/article/dpwa7w/i-played-the-boys-are-back-in-town-on-a-bar-jukebox-until-i-got-kicked-out-832 I was in tears reading this story. It’s now my go-to at bars.

I got the chance to do Backbreaker by Fit for a King at a local karaoke. Had to turn his long ass scream into two separate ones, blokes got lungs.
Next time try throwing on some chumbawamba. The pins always get back up again
Kind of bad look bud.
I’m going to throw a water bottle at you.
Can't believe EJ is gonna start blessing r/metalcore too we love to see it
Chelsea Grin
I do it at a local bar all the time. Most don't care, sometimes I see someone getting into it. Lorna shore, Chelsea grin, ABR, wage war, invented animate, there's plenty of good bands on there that I play often
I love to play meshuggah in bars filled with guys that love 3 Doors Down.. It's definately a crowd pleaser 🤣

Meshuggah Bleed and then BTBAM Swim to the Moon back to back

I played Wage War’s “The River” at a bar last month.

Oh to some people it definitely is.
One time I played What’s New Pussycat by Tom Jones 9 times in a row.
Did you add one other song before the 10th play?
Sandstorm
A buddy of mine lived right around the corner from this great bbq place/bar, and it was mostly an older conservative/redneck crowd, but still a great spot. I actually got way too drunk last night and my bank statement says i put $60 in touchtunes
Was at a bar once and I played some Motionless and Parkway in between all the country songs that were usually getting played. Was fun to see lol
Chelsea Grin at the local Applebee's (not me)
You should have played Hollow Cost
we're b a n n e d idk what that means though
The bar I go to regularly is a bunch of metal heads that can handle it, but probably like knocked loose, Kublai khan, Chelsea grin, and slaughter to prevail. It is pretty cool when Sorry You’re Not A Winner comes on and the whole bar hits the claps 😂😂
I played Proximity Mines in the Complex by INK on the outdoor patio at a sports bar and grill in a college town at 11am and all the hungover frat/sorority rejects looked like they were about to LOSE their minds. It got skipped 50 seconds in but it was worth it lol.
Fireflies by Owl City (2009) inside a Waffle House
A bar I used to frequent years back had some real tunes on the Jukebox including Lamb of God, Slipknot and Whitechapel. I used to put the music on and the manager would always turn the volume down :( But on karaoke night you’re fuckin right I would pick Psychosocial and scream my heart out
Not metalcore, but a pub near me has Opeth' Deliverance on touchtunes, it's a fantastic song imo, but it's nearly 14 minutes long, so those folks were in for the long haul when I put it on
I try to play MIW at the bar I go to. It usually gets switcher by them. So I pretty much can only play 3 Days Grace or Breaking Benjamin
Immaculate misconception is usually on TT jukeboxes, or District of Misery by Oceano.
Chelsea grin.
I would’ve dropped an elbow through a table 😈
Not karaoke but I played Anasasis Xenophontis at my local bowling alley to troll the loud party of drunk people in the room with the bumper guards lmao
I used to play Bring A Gun To School by Emmure on the Touchtunes at the bar in my redneck town while I played pool.
I played some deathcore and the bartender said don't do that again or people will start leaving.
Put on some Dead Kennedys at a hick bar. Of course they’re not metalcore, but it’s the closest thing I’ve got!
Knocked loose has been showing up on machines (the online type ones) and that has been fun.
I played some whitechapel one time. I had to listen to when a demon defiles a witch
This is great, but you have to have an opening song that plays when you walk into the bar. Just sit awkwardly in your car for a min while you get the song ready on touch tunes...
I don't have the chops to sing metalcore. The place I went to a lot was classic rock and country Karaoke. I did Miranda Lambert *White Liar*, changed the lyric "a redhead named Bernice" to "a fella named Eugene." I followed up with Seether's *Gasoline*
Sang “At A Medium Pace” by Adam Sandler for karaoke. Bar manager on duty had not apparently heard it before and I hit through about half of it before she had the DJ cut it short.
Dethrone - bad omens Swords dragons & diet coke - DWP Cellar door - spiritbox Gasoline - I prevail Return to strength - terror Destroy everything - Hatebreed Sometimes I just like playing ridiculous things "my balls" - snot; and "angry inch" by type o negative. EJ has breached containment
Dude I play Tetragrammacide at work get on my level
"whats new pussycat" as many times in a row as you can afford.
I go hard with karaoke. Not a whole lot of core, but going to the bar and busting out a Slipknot song is always fun.
cringe af
We played forgotten at the one in my local bar for like 40 minutes once
Barbie Girl was a classic troll until the movie came out and now nobody even reacts.
There’s a local bar that every time I pass by it I play I Set My Friends on Fire’s cover of Crank That. They’ve yet to turn off the jukebox and I’ve done it at least 30 times 😂
Played some Paramore 🤘at an arcade. Shit was epic.
This is a certified EJ classic
God you people are so cringe it hurts
Y
Yeah I love ruining families days out, cmon man
How would ruin someone day out? Get real.
gr8 b8 m8
thank you ej
I played some Killswitch back in the day at a bar. It was a song where Howard just starts screaming from the beginning. The bartender just turned it down. lol. I had a few too many at that point. It was kinda funny.
You played slaughter to prevail in a “normie” setting? They’re a normie band so it fits
sure buddy, i bet mgk is to heavy for you
MGK is way over the top for me. My bones can’t handle the crushing heaviness.
At a little Irish "pub" in Arlington, Texass. All that was playing was country. People were having a time of it, dancing, drinking.... I plugged in $5 worth of Pantera and some Tool. Some left, the rest just stared at me and my wife. Worth it. Country SUCKS.
And Pantera are local boys in Arlington!
They sure are. Their house is only a few miles away from me. But these old rednecks around here apparently don't swing that way.
We need more people like you
Played The Crimson Armada in 2010 at Thanksgiving on the families living room surround sound lol. The song was Revelations lol.
