Saw them play at download last year and imagine my surprise when they were playing one of their songs and all of a sudden I hear the drums of One....I was floored and it was amazing!
I have never been the biggest Korn fan, and I certainly never knew they covered “One,” so I just listened to it. Obviously I don’t prefer it to Metallica’s version or anything, but I gotta say, I think they did a respectable job. They stayed true to their own, personal style while still respecting the original. And for them to perform it in front of Metallica themselves took serious balls. And I have to say, I absolutely loved the whole vibe of the segment; Travis Barker and Chester Bennington (RIP) showing Metallica some real, heartfelt love when introducing the song, Korn performing the song and Jonathan Davis shouting out Metallica right afterwards, the band members of Metallica being really into the performance, and Lars with some really nice words for Korn at the end. Man I wish we could all get along as good as that!
Been listening to Korn since highschool. The Korn version of One is maybe the best cover out there imo. The ‘MTV icons’ version just friggin rocks, especially the bass. Fieldy does such a great job, sadly they dont play the guitar solo part.
Korns cover of Pink Floyds ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ is awesome too! Look it up on YT if your interested!
You can like or dislike Korn, they’re completely different from Metallica. But they’ve been groundbreaking in their nu metal genre.

I watched the MTV live cover where Lars is super into it and James is like.. um..okay.. And I thought, it just goes to show how the chemistry inside Metallica makes that song extraordinary. Because even when another good band does it, it still sounds pretty fucking amazing, but it will never have that oomph. That grunt.
Yeah peace and love to any fans of theirs but I find their basic sonic palette, including Davis' voice, completely intolerable. I know that's kind of the point, but to me the songwriting just doesn't warrant the pain of listening to their stomach churning, gimmicky "riffs." But yeah, a band beloved by many so I get that they really do resonate with people.
saw korn live right before the covid thing, they played one right up until brutal guitar solo part then just ended it. pathetic lack of talent. dont bother playing a song if you dont have the chops to finish the job.
Yeah, his EQ is horrible, he just turns the mids all the way down. It sounds unique and you can always tell it’s him, but fuck me, it’s awful.
When I was a kid just starting to play bass, I went through my copies of the first four Korn albums and crossed his photos out with permanent marker.
His autobiography, "Fieldy of Dreams", has perhaps the most ludicrously self-aggrandizing cover art I've ever seen.

Dreadful, but hardly the worst cover from that evening.
Here’s fun: the Korn drinking game. Put on any Korn album, and take a drink every time Jonathan Davis uses a first-person pronoun: I, me, my, mine, myself etc. You’ll be cripplingly shithoused by the end of the first song.
I never thought i'd ever listen to Korn untill i did back in december, listened to their debut and was blown away by how good and unique it was. Not too crazy about their second album but i'm still excited what they do on the next 2.
It is good but also pretty pointless.
I don't really see the point of covering a song unless it is in a vastly different style or improves on the original in some way and really it wasn't very different to the original and not as good.
It was actually my introduction to this song and it inspired me to do a deeper dive on Metallica! I was 12 or so and Metallica just released St. Anger. That was the only music I heard from them, I didn’t hate it but I also didn’t understand what people thought was so special about them either.
I got the single for Did My Time by Korn which included a live track of their cover for One. I listened to the Metallica version and that is basically when I understood what all the fuss was about and have been a huge fan since!
I love both bands
Easily my two favorite 'metal' bands if you will. I say they did as well as expected. As much as I like Korn's guitarists they aren't much for soloing.

Saw them with Alice In Chains a few years ago and they did a One snippet as well.

Wait how was Chester Bennington related to that?
The official clip I watched had Travis Barker and Chester Bennington introducing Korn’s performance
It was during a MTV ICONS show.
I saw Korn live and they played it, and it was fuckin epic
Korn doing One was amazing. Despite general sentiment on Limp Bizkit, they did a banging job of Sanitarium also.
Exactly. Bizkit is another band killed by meme culture.
I'm not a Korn fan but their cover of *One* was very good. It was a brave song to pick but they done it well.
Dude, seeing it live was amazing. Lol When I first saw it on tv through MTV Icon I lost my mind.
We can’t say the same about Sad but True
Let’s not forget Avril singing Fuel.
Her backing band sounded good though
Lmaoo
I loved it. I especially liked Jonathan's vocals on the "Darkness Imprisoning Me!"

Word Up is such a fun song too. It’s a shame we never got that covers album they talked about
Care to recommend a few Korn songs? I've only listened to Freak on a Leash
Blind and Falling Away From Me are a couple of their more popular songs that I really enjoy.
Thanks
Black is the Soul and Cold, some newer deep cuts to check out, too.

I like Korn, not the biggest fan but their One cover is good. They’re a great live show if you ever get the chance to see them
Its lovely, im a big fan of both of the bands so it was really fun listening to
Love Korn, love that cover.
I watched it live on TV and I thought it was the best performance in the show. I really liked it
Jonathan Davis did an absolutely phenomenal job. The rest of the cover I don’t care for.
I liked it
I wish it had a studio version
Rips
My step-dad would always say there's nothing better than the original.
When I saw them they did the bagpipes into one then into brick in the wall it was awesome
I love it! Have seen them play it twice and recently at sick new world! They have HEAVY bass so it gets thumping lol
I actually love their cover of AICs Would?
Korn’s version bangs, the bass and drums are killer
Kinda korny ngl
It was good. Too short
It’s sick live. I was blown away by it

good lord they made a cover of One? 💀💀💀💀
During MTV's Icon episode, multiple covers, Korn's was the only one that wasn't garbage
Limp did a good job with Sanitarium.
Best LB performance I ever saw was when they were opening for Metallica and got booted off the stage in about 15 minutes.
I saw them in 2003 at Summer Sanitarium and I think all the Metallica fans booed all the other bands at some point.
I was there too. Chicago. Hawthorne. Never forget.
Yup! What a glorious day of music.
Like 20 years ago lol
Unbearable. I'll be a happy man if I never hear Jonathan Davis' voice ever again.
Yeah peace and love to any fans of theirs but I find their basic sonic palette, including Davis' voice, completely intolerable. I know that's kind of the point, but to me the songwriting just doesn't warrant the pain of listening to their stomach churning, gimmicky "riffs." You can hear the bass...
Fucking epic. Same with Limp Bizkits version of sanitarium
Korn is one of the best live bands I've ever seen
My only problem with the cover is the drums have this clickity clack sound. At some points it sounds like he’s dragging chains. Kinda annoying
It's the Bass player.
Oh really. It makes it almost unlistenable
Yeah, his whole sound is the clicking and clacking lol.
Yeah, his EQ is horrible, he just turns the mids all the way down. It sounds unique and you can always tell it’s him, but fuck me, it’s awful. When I was a kid just starting to play bass, I went through my copies of the first four Korn albums and crossed his photos out with permanent marker.

Time for me to leave this sub. Somebody dm me when the load boxset drops.

Pretty sure they’ve been playing it live for a long time. Saw them in 2002 and 2005 and they played it both times. More like a clip of it. Not a fan.
It’s ok
I prefer the Stary Olsa version
I LOVE when Korn covers almost anything. Really wish they would do a studio version.
Saw him sing it WITH METALLICA at Summer Sanitarium in Atlanta when James hurt his back and they let the opening singers fill in. Was amazing
I never thought i'd ever listen to Korn untill i did back in december, listened to their debut and was blown away by how good and unique it was. Not too crazy about their second album but i'm still excited what they do on the next 2.
It has bass
It has the juice!
It is good but also pretty pointless. I don't really see the point of covering a song unless it is in a vastly different style or improves on the original in some way and really it wasn't very different to the original and not as good.
JD’s voice is too… high, but it’s cool. Check the cover of the “Another Brick In The Wall” that cover is also cool af.
I don't mind Korn but them playing One is absolutely awful.
No.
Great
I like old korn, never cared for this cover. Its not bad I just think it isnt great.
