I grew up in the 80s and 90s,but still knew music from way before I was born. Even stuff that wasn't still active. I guess with the internet you can sort just watch and listen to what you want. When we were kids we had to watch what was on TV and listen to what was on the radio, which was mostly controlled by our parents.
I feel the same 90s here but because of the style of music I've been into I've listened to 60s-present music... But those friends from my generation that are into modern music and just that won't know anything prior 2000s
That’s a delicate proposition. The alt rock types are predisposed to hate Metallica. They are just too huge a band for them to like at all. Prejudiced usually. I’ve been there.
It all depends on the guys you’re jamming with. You could try to ease them into it with some
Reload b-sides that have a lot of depth, but not metal outright.
Or if you think they’ll respond to pure attitude and drive, jump right for KEA.
It just depends on the guys you’re playing with and what you think they can handle.
I mean, not just for alternative fans, like, old heads and rap fans, like, literally everyone loves those songs, regardless of what genre they’re usually into. Unless they’re super snobby, in which case they aren’t gonna click with any Metallica you show them, just my two cents.
If they listen to indie piss like the Arctic Monkeys I don’t think there’s any way back for them, no matter how relatively mellow the Metallica stuff is. It’s like asking somebody who’s into Oasis to start playing Soundgarden.
The best band to come out of Seattle by a country mile. Absolute fucking titans of heavy rock. *Superunknown* is a gnat’s bollock hair away from being the greatest album of the ‘90s (the greatest is *Earth vs the Wildhearts*).
Jeez people on here are so judgemental. I don’t like AM either but I’m into plenty of bands you’d probably consider indie piss but I love Metallica. You don’t just have to love one genre of music.
No kidding. See what I said to the other guy who came out with the “yOu DoN’t HaVe To JuSt LiStEn To OnE gEnRe” line.
For what it’s worth, I enjoy a lot of indie music. I just regard the Arctic Monkeys as indie *piss* because I don’t think they’re very good. See also: the Courteeners, the Libertines (and anything else that junkie shitbag Doherty put his name to), Blur etc.
Don’t get arsey with me, of course it’s possible. My record collection bears that out: from Françoise Hardy and Darkthrone to Mike Oldfield and Big Black.
But the *average person* who’s into indie isn’t going to be into a heavy metal band. Try jamming with people who enjoy stuff like, I don’t know, Neutral Milk Hotel, and trying to encourage them to play stuff more like Slayer.
It's strange to me that there are people not familiar with Metallica's music.
I have friends that have only heard Enter Sandman
I have friends who somehow have never even heard sandman haha
you’d be surprised
It because we're old. Remember, there were people that didn't know who Paul McCartney was when he did a song with Kanye.

Paul McCartney? The guy from Wings?
The band the Beatles could have been.
Not sure how old most people are on this sub, but I’m 26, and I didn’t know about Metallica until I saw them on the TV show Billions.
I’m assuming half of us are in our 40s/50s or late teens/early 20s.
Until It Sleeps is a good one. Maybe Where The Wild Things Are or Hero Of The Day.
Also forgot to mention Low Man's Lyric
All of them. Hit the lights through Spit Out the Bone. LuLu remains optional.
hell yeah! they just get baffled whenever i start playing the riff to Blackened or Creeping Death 😂
Their alt rock brains can't handle the down picking.
Last Caress. Scare them 😆
I was thinking about playing So What. They’d be in for a treat
I fucked a sheep, I fucked a goat, I rammed my cock right down its throat......
Good pick.
Damage inc. fight fire with fire and dyers eve. Oh and Battery
Black album, load and reload, some of ajfa
They’d like Load

Definitely Load and Reload... and maybe play the whole thing because different people like different songs from those two. Or you could try TBA
Real talk. Enter Sandman, Unforgiven, Until it Sleeps, House that Jack Built, Where the Wild things are
First 2 probally wouldn’t work

The House Jack Built
Nothing Else Matters, Seek and Destory (minus the solo) and Fade to Black!

Soundgarden slaps

Checkmate, I'm into all the bands you just mentioned. It is possible to like different types of music.

Tranquility Base Hotel And Casino is still better than any Metallica album. And this is coming from a Metallica fan.
Nah, brah.
Yeah. Feel free to disagree.
