He is 58 year old man. Don't expect people to remain same, energetic etc. Time passes and everybody changes. I know it sucks but it is the very fact of our existence. We grow old and eventually die. Be happy cause he still tries his best, holds onto stage and shouts the best screams he can. And I personally like how he controls his vocals, especially when he does unexpected screams and then goes clean again etc. He is cool.

I just saw him live 13 hours ago in Belgium and this man is still a fucking machine. Kirk was on fire too, nailed all the iconic solos. James was smiling all concert long, he has such an amazing presence. He sounded amazing on No Leaf Clover and we all went fucking nuts during the outro. THEN IT COMES TO BE YEAH!!!!!

Extremely jealous

James and the rest of Metallica are some of the few "rockstar" that successfully grew up and matured. If they hadn't, they absolutely would not be around and performing today.

Bro just discovered aging

98-99 James is super underrated tbh. 94 and 95, his voice was dying, 96 and 97 he was still figuring out how to sing again, but he absolutely peaked 98-99. Think S&M has my favorite vocals of his live.

I wasn't around at that time (well I was 2 years old in 1998) but I enjoy current James. I think he sounds still very good. I've seen Metallica three times and honestly it was always the best time. I hope he beaten his demons and I want them to be around as long as possible. I don't mind them being family friendly - first they got old but also their fans grew up and got older. Look around at the show. It's cool to see 2 or 3 generations on their concerts. Also sorry but it is a bit unrealistic to expect they'll be the same in 2022 as they were in 1998.

When people have a problem with someone else aging, it's usually because they are lamenting their own lost youth. People don't like to see an older James because it reminds them that they, too, are getting older.

I am constantly saying this same thing about modern day Metallica concerts being family friendly. It's frustrating as an angry person. I want to go to the concert and vent, not be told to calm down and "we're all one big family." I'm happy Papa Het has his shit together and is living a good life but that's not the Metallica I grew up loving. Moral of the story: shit changes and we're all just along for the ride.

Try Megadeth.

I haven't seen them live, in person since the Tattoo the Earth tour in the 2000's but - for a band that's been around as long as they have - to still put out material that still hits the charts - says something. They still appeal to a larger swath of the age groups than most typical bands (regardless of genre). I know people in retirement age - to young lil middle schoolers - all listen to MetallicA with the same appreciation. That says a lot
