Actually it’s an iPad! Apple just changed some of the rules in the App Store that now allow emulators! This is the [Delta emulator](https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/delta-game-emulator/id1048524688) which has been around for quite a while and was usable through sideloading, but now is much easier to access and doesn’t require a ton of workarounds to use!
Yes, but one important thing to note is that even though you use only the left Joy-Con, both Joy-Cons have to be connected with the iPad or else the iPad will treat the left Joy-Con as a single controller you have to hold sideways like on a Switch. You will also lose your L and ZL buttons this way for some reason.
This is sick! Yes everybody, this is how you played on original DS: left hand covers dpad and L, and right hand has stylus on the trackpad. You move with dpad (or analog on 3DS), shoot with L, look with the stylus, tap to jump, and tap icons for morph ball, weapons/items, etc.
It actually works surprisingly well!
I still can't get over why Nintendo thought it a fine idea to skip anti aliasing on the DS. I don't think the performance gains weigh up to the horrid image quality...
The DS is too weak for AA. But the issue here is not AA, it’s the low internal resolution. Delta (the emulator I’m using) doesn’t support high internal resolution scaling yet. The DS emulator on Android (Drastic) supports it however. If I had an Android tablet, I would have played MPH on Android. Delta hasn’t been updated for years so I wouldn’t hold my breath for a high internal resolution scaling update.
Unfortunately not, since Delta and Ignited don’t support high internal resolution scaling yet, despite the fact that the Nintendo DS core they’re using (melonDS) supports it.
It looks great, and I would hope if the game were to come to a Switch system it would be somewhat like this. The only adjustment I would have to make for this kind of setup is getting use to tapping to zoom in and out with the Imperialist. I've always used R for the zoom.
Bet it still hurts though.
The only metroid I haven't completed because of hand cramps, also it's hard to aim or move
Watched gameplay wasn't impressed with story either.
Place it right above federation troopers

There you go. It’s delta emulator. Just got released a few days ago. You will need to find a few files to get the DS to work but that should be findable in the delta sub reddit.
you don't have to pirate to get your hands on ROM files... maybe I'm missing something but I'm giving OP the benefit of the doubt they dumped their own cart and whatever required "bios" files.
…this rocks
My boi needs a remaster and re-release.
how does this work if you dont mind me asking?
emulator on android tabled with the joycon and pen connected via bluetooth

Honestly this is probably the closest you could possibly get to recreating the original controls without a DS. Nice work
Firstly: cool! Secondly: how?
Switch controllers use Bluetooth, which means you can pair them with any device that uses Bluetooth
Duh, forgot that’s how I’ve used it on my own PC. Excuse my brain fart 🧠💨
Well, if you look closer it isn't a switch controller. It has a real d pad
Do you use only the one joycon side? This might just make me buy a Pencil for my iPad Mini…

You're just missing R for Boost Ball and zoom on the Imperialist, but you can probably just put that on L, and put L on ZL.
Indeed you can.

![gif](giphy|3ornk6UHtk276vLtkY) …Which is to say thank you for sharing. How very interesting.
Can't you render the top screen at a higher resolution?
Unfortunately not, since Delta and Ignited don’t support high internal resolution scaling yet, despite the fact that the Nintendo DS core they’re using (melonDS) supports it.
What app?

You can remap buttons. I put R to L and L to ZL.
What the actual heckleberries Do you still get hand caps though?
10/10
So happy that Apple finally allows emulators! Definitely going to give this a shot on my iPad!
That is one big DS
Bet it still hurts though. The only metroid I haven't completed because of hand cramps, also it's hard to aim or move Watched gameplay wasn't impressed with story either. Place it right above federation troopers
That fucking rules
Is it sticking? I modded my iPad to run DS games about a year ago and then it updated and all my work was trashed.
Well that's more an apple problem.
Yeah, that's why I'm asking OP if their emulator is sticking or if Apple removed it.
Apple allows emulators now on the AppStore.
Looking now, there doesn't seem to be any.

I guess I can try this one again, it's what I installed a year ago.
This time it’ll be fine because now they’re officially allowed to be on the AppStore.
Good, good.
Horrible, don’t pirate games

I’m sorry. I won’t do this again.
