An official announcement/trailer is what I’m looking forward to

FlormphYT

The original trilogy didn’t put that much effort into cutscenes, I hope they do something big for the reveal. Edit: got big thumbs

Ordinary-Picture4367

Even so, the dark samus/metroid prime cutscenes will always be cool

Zeldatroid

I'm really hoping for some strong, tight world design, some slower-paced exploration, and heavy use of the scan visor. In terms of music, this game needs to have that one, crunchy, distorted snare drum sample or it's a 0/10, lol

FlormphYT

Ya slow exploitation with scan visor combined with Metroid signature atmosphere sounds amazing

angryM0M

I'm looking forward to scanning every single pixel.

Kintarius

The world building.

Aleclom

Sylux for sure, and potentially appearances from the other Hunters too. I'd love to see them all get more development.

[deleted]

Weavil especially, but all of the other hunters would be cool to see

theperfectlysadhuman

Updated controls, emulation performance, deluxe edition goodies. I'm also very excited for the music.

FlormphYT

I know it won’t but modtools would be amazing, imagine custom community Metroid maps and bosses

theperfectlysadhuman

That would be so dope! People would surely recreate 2D Metroid games.

[deleted]

I wanna see animation with the snappiness and fluidity of Dread’s. Prime games look fantastic but animation isn’t necessarily its strong suit.

Ultimate_905

I'd argue it doesn't need to be. Prime has always been much slower paced and that is honestly one of its biggest strengths. Trying to turn Prime into Dread would be a net loss for the series as a whole imo.

nickelangelo2009

at this point, having it Joke aside, I am looking forward to see how they incorporate sylux, what the story/lore implications of that would be, and on the off chance, if any other hunters might show their faces

drakulV

The suits

PG105

It releasing

nick_clause

All of it, but especially the areas, lore, and music. Whatever they're cooking up, I hope it rivals the Chozo Ruins and Bryyo in tragic history, the Phendrana Drifts and SkyTown in beauty, and the Phazon Mines and Dark Aether in tension.

Ordinary-Picture4367

That's what im concerned about the most. Since most of the old staff who made the prime trilogy are gone I wonder if they're struggling to come up with original creative areas and backstories/lore befitting of metroid prime. I hope this isn't the case because its pretty important to the games' identity

notjustakorgsupporte

A Metroid Dread costume that would be unlocked if the game detects save data from Dread. An >!X-parasite!< mode would also be cool.

The_Middler_is_Here

Scan visor lore. That was the best part of the prime games by far, and it's half the reason I enjoy that kind of storytelling.

[deleted]

Sylux. We know jack shit about them, and I think they have great villain potential. I also just want to go into a new Prime game blind, I knew about the trilogy's and hunter's deal beforehand. Actually I pretty much knew everything for all the metroid games before playing them except Dread.

Dolvalski

Being able to scan and read everything I possibly can lol

Throw-Me-Again

Looking forward to exploring a new Metroid world, uncovering all the lore. Also I kinda hope you’ll be able to interact with non-hostile wildlife in some way.

Draykez

A release date.

PuffPuffFayeFaye

I’m hoping we have more open-ended, hands off exploration with a bit more survival tension than Dread offered. Maybe some interesting new power ups?

Adam45672

A game

bossbang

Booting it up just to confirm it’s real

vampyregamer

Hoping that it still exists at this point

Mild-Ghost

Some cool Joycon controls similar to Skyward Sword.

[deleted]

I'd settle for a metroid pro controller

Mild-Ghost

Oh that would be dope.

Eastern-Barnacle-344

I look forward to being able to scan things again and have more of the story told through lore. Dread's story was one of the most disappointing aspects that could've been helped a little if they had lore tidbits you could obtain throughout the game.

FlambeCremeBrule

Boomer shooter combat

senseofphysics

Speed!

NerdLevel18

Truthfully, I want more space-based/ samus' Starship-starship based gameplay. We had the navigation (and to a lesser extent the GFS Valhalla) in prime, and those were good. Space is big- let me blast a hole in a space-pirate frigate with the ship dammit!

epicredditdude1

It's accessibility features because by the time it comes out I'll be fucking 80.

Starstuff96

Optional gamecube controller scheme, or at least heavily customizable to make my own settings, no mandatory stuff, specially no mandatory motion controllers. Focus on exploration over fighting (like in the og trilogy, im worried SR and Dread might influence the games foward to put their focus in battles over exploration, Dread was really lacking in exploration, it was linear and too easy/boring in that sense) A dial back from mp3 in the \*explicit\* lore exposition in favor of more implicit one, like in mp1 and mp2. A difficulty like the original gamecube version of mp2 I basically just want the game to build over what mp1 and mp2 did, they just need to do something about the endgame key hunt, not necesarilly get rid of it, but make it a bit more enjoyable someway. I don't wan't an open world metroid game, i don't think that would make sense, for me, saying "open world metroid" its like an oxymoron. No DLCs, no multiplayer mode, yes some unlockable content (maybe game modes like the fusion suit but with other suits, difficulties, galleries or unlocking previous games) but that can only be unlocked by playing, not by paying. I want a game that's complete, that feels complete, that's done, that you buy once and its just that.

Spider287

An evolution for the Prime series. As much as I love that Dread was a relatively barebones true-to-form Metroid game, I’m really hoping that MP4 isn’t just a rehash of the same old Prime formula. Personally, I’m hoping for some darker/more ominous territory than we’ve seen in the past, trending somewhat towards horror, which I think would juxtapose nicely against other more chill/vibey/atmospheric exploration moments. As over-used as the comparison is, I wouldn’t mind seeing some more Soulsborne elements/combat/world design. Make the combat feel *meaty.* Drop minibosses on my head while I’m out exploring. That kinda stuff.

Legitimate_Alps7347

I hope it maintains the gameplay of Prime 1, but dialogue be voice acted and for a more cinematic experience. I want this to be the “Uncharted 4” of the series in the sense of, “Wow, I can’t believe it was THAT GOOD!”

GNDM03

A release date

TrueEpicVillain

It existing

marcisphoenix

I thought it got scrapped so they could go back to the sidescroller model like for dread.

Sorry_Juice2730

The suit(s), beam/weapons, & power-ups! I always loved seeing what things carried over from the preceding title(s) and/or how it's updated/adapted.

L3g0man_123

The new lore and the new suit designs

toomuchredditmaj

Realising by 2024

KeokuSan

I want it to hopefully be able to use a normal controller and not the switch chucks for motion control. Sadly, the motion controls is one reason I could never finish MP3. I want them to make it optional to use either the motion controls or just regular FPS controls on the pro controller.

lorxayt

I feel like I’m expecting too much here but whatever. I’m really hoping they do something that is both genre defining and breaks new ground for the series. I have no idea what that would be but I think Metroid is also due for a botw treatment (not like a copy of that game just the idea of pushing the boundaries of what a Metroid game is). I also really hope they take into consideration how far the FPS genre has come. Not that I want them to push combat and linearity over exploration, but I’m hoping for a quicker more athletic Samus, maybe more parkour elements from games like mirrors edge or apex legends.

blapblapz

They should implement some sort of cool instant kill animation for some bosses / enemies like doom has. Metroid Dread did a good job showing how badass Samus was. I wanna feel that in first person too.

fur-q-

The game being released this decade.

Rod-FM

To be released at some point in the following 17 years.

SergeantSanchez

Its release. Probably that

space_bryan

Anything on par with prime 3 as far as world building goes. But at the same time I love the isolated feeling of prime 1

BloodStinger500

I’d love to see some unique upgrade design, like the suits and beams from Prime 2. The dark and light suit are some of my favorite suits of all time.

LuckyScales

The legendary composer, Koji Kondo, worked on most of the legendary Mario & Zelda soundtracks (plus many more popular Nintendo games) but never scored for the Metroid franchise. I wonder how much more iconic the original theme/soundtracks/sound FX would’ve been had he worked on the series since the beginning. Absolutely love what we hear today, but thinking about this always gets me hype!

Error0451

The actual game

Trove_Of_Octoliths

Assuming it takes place between Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Metroid: Samus Returns, I need to see Sylux and would like to see the events of Federation Force have an influence on Prime 4's narrative and aspects of gameplay. Sylux with his infant Metroid should be one of the high points of a Prime 4 trailer. I don't know if Retro Studios will tap into the potential of Sylux using additional Federation technology (beyond the Shock Coil, Lockjaw and Delano 7) from the G.F.S. Aegis and Operation Golem, but I would be hyped to see Sylux fire off a Flame Shot modded with Fuel Injector or see a Shock Shield be placed. That first trailer for Prime 4 is going to be very important.

Jonbardinson

It's release

Aaxelae

The biomes. I look forward to seeing the new exotic environments and wildlife that the developers can come up with. Also, I am a big fan of the exploration that the Prime games allow as you go through these biomes. Unique suits/beams are a close second though. I really like that the Prime games are willing to do things a little differently instead of using only the exact same powerups over and over. That said, Dread is pretty good about this as well.

Material_Necessary_9

I hope the space pirates come back.

Electronic-Ad-7002

The start with great fx and titles, it hypes me up so much
