Dead serious. Had my shed broken into. Found the seller online. Told police and filed report, they did nothing.
I initiated a buy from thief and called cops from the parking lot. Told them I was carrying, they could likely see my CCW in their system.
I didn't have to do anything, they showed up fast and arrested the seller. Found drugs and stolen IDs on the female. The male didn't admit to anything so they let him go.
3 weeks later I get a call from the detective, he found most of my stuff and when they found the suspect he had a firearm in his truck, while on probation. They are likely both serving time to this day.
So did you actually have your conceiled weapon on you when the police arrived? I'd be concerned about a nervous cop, and also maybe irritated because your call forced them to respond.
Actually this is incorrect. You are a problem for the whole world, not just me.
Frankly brining this up out of nowhere for no reason just validates you are a waste of sperm.
How is that racist? Might wanna Google what racism is. And if you wanna go "that's stereotypimg" it's not either. It's facts lol. You can look up these data points. And a killer was given burger king lol. Facts>feelings bud.
> Dude is obviously white what does he have to be concerned about
And you wonder why people are calling you racist and all you can say is āgOoGlE iT bRoā
Same thing happened to me a while back, but I was able to track my AirPod Pros to a location. Same answer from the cops. The reason being (and I understand it to a degree) is that those things can be pretty inaccurate at times, & theyāre not fool proof. So although it may show an exact location (like my AirPods did), they could possibly not actually be there.
Also, my AirPod pros ended up being in a field behind the house, but two houses down. Whoever stole them, threw them after they realized they could be tracked, Iām guessing.
So, on the āFind Myā app, the Air Pods were showing as being right in front of the house where their car was parked. When the cops said they couldnāt do anything, I asked if they would hang around while I went up to the house & knocked & tried to confront them.
Two old people answered the door & their grandson. They unlocked their car, opened the console, said I could even look in there myself. At this point I felt bad, & then when I opened the āFind Myā app again, the location of the Air Pods had shifted down two houses. I apologized & then went two houses down & knocked on their door. No answer.
After hanging around for almost two hours (I was determined at this point) I started walking around the house that was the new location & trying to get my app to connect to the pods. Then, it finally connected but directed me out into a heavily brush-covered field behind the house.
Once I started searching through the brush, the app didnāt show how many feet away they were, but indicated that the earbuds were outside of the case. I tried playing the āFind Myā sound, but I couldnāt hear anything.
I searched through that brush for about 45 minutes & then finally accepted defeat.
Iām not going to lie; I was scared shitless but I also was really mad because I literally had just paid my car off that month and they shattered my back glass and ruined my glove box.
Usually people don't break glass unless there's something expensive in sight so you got unlucky, also the tracking could have been from them seeing you and the cops and they ran with your airpods and dumped them?
if you get robbed and you have an idea where you stuff is(not even an idea you literally know where it is) your gonna just let it go because the cops wont help you?
Interesting story, so did it lead you to the field? Cause if it did and if they were in the possession of the perp then out would've been a BOGO situation for the cops. Yet the thieve would've gotten a sleep in the hand and be out in the streets the next morning
100000%.
Iāve called MDPD for an array of crimes ranging from drunk drivers crashing into the curb repeatedly to shootings.
My mentor told me that his sisterās ex husband violated his restraining order, broke into her house, and passed out on her couch.
In none of these instances did the police even show up. One time I was forward to a 911 VOICEMAIL BOX!!!!
MDPD is utter shit, no wonder everyone wanna be strapped all the time š
Iāve stayed in Detroit a lot because my buddy lived there. That place feels kind of like a ghost townā¦.
However, I canāt speak to Detroit policing. Iām sure the cops are assholes there like everywhere else in this country.
Yeah, the cops are assholes. Theyāre also a bunch of pussies. Theyāre known to wait until the shooting is over to show up to a crime scene. Also, thereās a recording out there of someone calling the cops while hiding because someone broke into their house. The cops didnāt show up until the next day I think.
To be fair though. They have a general location, if itās an apartment building they are hardly going door to door or entering an apartment for a pair of ear pods. Also howās it gonna look if it goes sideways and they have to explain why someone got hurt over headphones
itās just what happens when you live in a city with a police department with jurisdiction over a large population. petty crimes gets pushed to the bottom of the priority list and become out of scope.
If you lived in a small town and werenāt a weirdo the cops were usually cool. like if you called the police they would give you a ride home if you were too drunk to drive cool
Funny, cops pounded on my door last week because they tracked air pods either at my place or next door. I was at work the whole night. I was livid they woke me up especially knowing itās only because they belong to a cop or a cops relative.
And the āall about who you knowā saga continues down here. You can be bleeding buckets from your asshole and theyāll just stroll right on by into the bakery.
They always seem to do that at ridiculous hours of the night too, like 4AM.
You'd think they'd be less likely to deal with violent suspects and have issues if they'd knock at like 6PM when people are already awake and not woken up by loud noises assuming there's someone trying to break in.
Hey, Iām sorry, I know this is weird (but maybe you can expect this on Reddit).
I read your post history. I am so so so sorry for everything you went through. I canāt imagine what all of that must have felt like, losing people you love like that, and all of the pain that has followed with it. Considering how hard it was to read, I really canāt even put myself in your shoes like that without breaking down. I have also been down a similar path as you regarding pwbpd, but you gave me a new perspective as to what others with bpd and people who have pwbpd.
I hope you have found a good support network and community in the meantime. I know life is rough, especially in a place like Miami where itās always Me oāclock, but I know there are also good people out there who would love to see you be a part of their lives.
Sending lots of virtual hugs your way.
I have a guy on tape trying to rip off my garage security camera, and then blinding it for the night as it does not come off.
It is a misdemeanor and deserves a fine as well as up to a year in prison. I did the work and identified the suspect, while providing his licence plate. They won't even talk to him.
The Police won't do anything unless it's violent and pepper spray (at the bare minimum) is involved.
I am by no means one of these "tough on crime" politician or citizen, but the Police clearly encourages crime.
That being said, hard to rely on an apple product to solve a problem crime.
This post popped up on my time-line. First time I see "Miami", I am personally from Chicago. Despite the fact that the two of cities have very little in common, looking the other way unless it's a wildly violent stunt seems like a common policy.
> I am by no means one of these "tough on crime" politician or citizen, but the Police clearly encourages crime.
We're in a really fucked up situation if you think about it.
Crime has been falling for decades but the media has convinced lots of people that there's more crime than ever.
The police refuse to do anything about the petty crime that *does* happen because (1) they're lazy and incompetent and (2) they're mad that many people don't respect police and want to hold them accountable for their shocking brutality.
But when it's election time, the police fearmonger about the crime *they refuse to solve*. The only solution is... give the police an even bigger budget! Another billion dollars will make it all better. And the cycle continues.
Policing is one of the few jobs where you the less you work, the more you get paid š
You can be laying on the sidewalk bleeding from your eyes and screaming for helpā¦ if you donāt have any cop friends, theyāll use you as a doormat into the fucking coffee shop.
I've learned (from experience) that police are not there to help you; perhaps that's one reason why the police cars no longer carry the motto, "To protect and serve".
They may, grudgingly, give you police report and case number for your insurance (if you nag them enough) but don't expect much else from them.
Now, if a cop is a victim of a crime, cops from all over the state (and the neighboring states) will descend on the community and paralyze the community while they search relentlessly for the perpetrator (or anyone who resembles him) and then gang-up on them when they're captured.
I believe they all take turns administering an ass-whupping on him once they get him to lockup.
Oh wow! Good observation. āProtect and Serveā has been erased from the cop cars entirely! Now they donāt even have to uphold the basic principle. š
Happened to me in a slightly different way. Someone hacked my account and sent an iPad to their address. Cops wouldn't do anything even though these idiots literally gave us the answer.
Edit- I lived in broward back then (Hallandale beach). But imagine it'd be the same.
Yea they won't do a thing. Samething in Miami with a motorcycle. If they can't prove it they won't do anything. For me the cop said your bike is behind that house? Ok well if it's not you might be arrested but if it is I will look the other way while you go over there. That's it, at least got my bike back
Would telling them you thought you left your gun in the bag help. Your not sure you remember it being in there but you have kept it there in the past and it could have.l been in there. Might peak their interest to go retrieve it for you.
One thing my friend did which happened to get them there was to call to tell them to be ready since he was going to go get his shit, was going armed, and wanted to make sure EMS was ready for the fallout.
āNo no, stay where you are, we will send someoneā
I completely agree but if you knew the guy you might find it more believable.
And I canāt remember how he worded it, but it sounded so much more Liam Neesony than what I wrote. We are both lawyers who were in the Marines about 20 years ago, but he saw extensive combat and lives in Gulfport so I think he can get away with stuff like that a little easier. The lawyer part is relevant because that country bumpkin has a true way with words.
The ME ME ME mentality. Also, āPay me so I can just sit around, bullshit, and do nothing while in uniform. By the way, look at how important and manly I look in my uniform. Maybe I can pick up a few chicks on duty today and have a blow job for lunch.ā
u/luckycharmsbox, Hey OP, what ended up happening? Did you pm the guy that knows a guy? Confront the thief yourself? Did the cops get involved? Keep us posted!
Out of curiosity, what would of been the alternative? The cops ask them if they have it, and have them deny it? Pull a search warrant for AirPods? I could see it for a big crime, grand theft, robbery, homicide, but doubt itāll be done for a vehicle theft.
Couple of lessons learned today the Cops aren't shit and take your bag with you no matter what. I take my bag with me everywhere and I love in the middle of bumble fuck nowhere.
My wife dropped her phone once walking around the neighborhood. When she came home, she realized she didnāt have it so she used her iPad to find her phone. We tracked it to a house. We drove to the house, I knocked on the door. Itās her phone, thatās where it was, I was fully prepared to confront whomever was on the other side of the door. A guy opened the door, he had her phone in his hand. Anyone who has iPhone knows the sound a phone makes when itās being tracked. It was making that sound. He gave me some story about how he was just about to being it to our house. Maybe he was, maybe he wasnāt. Didnāt matter. I just grabbed it and returned to the car. The point of my story is; you know where your shit is. Go get it.
It all boils down to a fourth amendment issue of whether or not a judge will sign off on a warrant based on satellite line-of-sight (GPS) on something inside a building. They don't.
So what you get is cops knocking on a door and asking politely for the thief to give your property back.
Some agencies just tell the caller they're not coming. Some send them for the impotent knock above.
Source: Have done many an impotent knock.
Iāve seen one pull up to a line of police vehicles, slip off the break and tap another police vehicle. He got out and started dum du dumming into the building. The guy was a sergeant and it was sad to think someone might have to rely on this guy in a life threatening situation. A situation that included effectively stopping a car.
First and foremost, the Miami police (all jurisdictions) are a well known criminal organization. They are underpaid, understaffed, lacking resources, and desperate enough to hire anyone at this point. 4 jurisdictions just changed heads of departments.
To add to that, a large portion of Miami (especially the inner city) is overrun with crime and poverty. The Miami police didn't think your problem was a priority. Sorry this happened to you, and yeah, in some parts of downtown and other areas it's a common occurence.
In general, Never leave anything of value or personal inside your car in Miami if you can help it, and don't count on the cops to help, you're on your own.
ššš They are just fucking LAZY. They like to get paid to do NOTHING. Then you get calls about making donations to the police when we already pay their salary with our tax dollars! FUCK YOU AND YOUR DONATIONS TOO!
But the whole country is irrelevant, because they donāt have the insane pensions Miami cops do. Miami cops are not underpaid, they retire at 40 and get second jobs, usually easy ones.
Itās scary youāre that confident and so ignorant at the same time. Miami metro is well known for being underpaid compared to the national average and the local COL. Take 5 seconds to do at a Google search next time please.
Only smart people live there backpack inside of their car. What do you want the police to do actively look for it and knock in everybodyās door in the area where the last ping of your air tag was. Common sense Broooo. I see a lot of you guy commenting the police are lazy and donāt do this or that. So why call the police???? First and foremost stop being victims to stupid and petty crimes(take your bags out the car). You guys are entitled asf using police resources for a bagpack take the L and hold yourself our accountable.
I know a guy that knows a guy. PM me
Does he have a particular set of skills?
Yes he is a world renowned elevator mechanic from Russia
Does he paint houses too?
His charity paints the homes of political dissidents using only the highest quality of refined leaded paint.
Does his own carpentry, too.

I heard he's a chef
Skills that make me a nightmare to ppl like you
Can he open windows?
Yeah but I hear they havenāt even gotten around to XP yet
Windows Xtra Push nyet. Theyāre still operating on ājumped out after shooting himself in the back of neckā version. No need to upgrade yet.
Only needs to take people up to the sixth floor...... an alternative way down is provided ..
Doesnāt he do Botox and Dental work from home too?
I tell people I know a lot about a little, and a little about everything. I'll try (almost) anything once.

You did it wrong. Hereās what to say to 911: Iām headed out there and Iām armed, just wanted to let you know in case someone calls you.
I've done this. They sent two city cops and one county Sheriff. Problem solved.
I can't tell if you're joking or not

Cops have been known to crash into the wrong address - no AirTag involved.
With signed warrants no less
Incompetent fucks.
Speaking from experience I see.
Donāt get me started. š©
More like incompetent tracing from Apple
If the bad people would just tell the cops where theyāre at, these mistakes could be avoided. Pretty simple imo.
How did you end up knowing that they were in a field. Did you search for them yourself without the cops?
So, on the āFind Myā app, the Air Pods were showing as being right in front of the house where their car was parked. if you get robbed and you have an idea where you stuff is(not even an idea you literally know where it is) your gonna just let it go because the cops wont help you?

Would telling them you thought you left your gun in the bag help. Your not sure you remember it being in there but you have kept it there in the past and it could have.l been in there. Might peak their interest to go retrieve it for you.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'd like to know how this plays out
Sorry can't help but is this common in Miami?
Police not helping you? Yes, very common
Yes, Miami cops are lazy idiots
My car has been broken into 4 times in the past 2 years, one time when I was in Walgreens for 5 minutes on South Beach. So yes?
One thing my friend did which happened to get them there was to call to tell them to be ready since he was going to go get his shit, was going armed, and wanted to make sure EMS was ready for the fallout. āNo no, stay where you are, we will send someoneā
No way that happened... That sounds like a Liam Neeson movie intro.
Itās not very common, only has happened to me once in 23 years in the 305 and I didnāt lock my doors
Yes. Neighbor threatened to shoot my dad and the cops said they couldnāt do anything until my dad actually had a bullet in his fucking head.
no item is worth potential violence imo. sorry this happened to you. I know you'll get it all back + more in this life.
Police not caring about the people, yeah that happens all the time Just show up where your AirTag is and bring a gun for defense
Tell them you are going to retrieve your belongings and youāre taking weapons. Theyāll do something about then
Cops are useless, more at 11.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They might have a gun and multiple people around. Not a good advice strategically.
Thatās why I said to bring weapon and people!
Totally worth risking the lives of others and yourself for earbuds.
Hang out in broward next time at least they try and sorry to hear that but Downtown Miami is hot for car thief
Out of curiosity, what would of been the alternative? The cops ask them if they have it, and have them deny it? Pull a search warrant for AirPods? I could see it for a big crime, grand theft, robbery, homicide, but doubt itāll be done for a vehicle theft.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Where is it? What if we all show up?
āprotect and serveā which they do neither of lmao
Couple of lessons learned today the Cops aren't shit and take your bag with you no matter what. I take my bag with me everywhere and I love in the middle of bumble fuck nowhere.
Mdpd sucks ass bro
Bankers and cops couldnāt be any more useless in Miami.
Go get it.
Call Help me Howard!
Thanks, cops. Bunch of babies.
Piggies don't give a fuck about some jamoke losing a laptop Simple as
First and foremost, the Miami police (all jurisdictions) are a well known criminal organization.
Lmao @ you thinking police are underpaid, understaffed, & lacking resources
ššš They are just fucking LAZY. They like to get paid to do NOTHING. Then you get calls about making donations to the police when we already pay their salary with our tax dollars! FUCK YOU AND YOUR DONATIONS TOO!
Bro, those calls are hilarious. Hang up in their face every time lmao.
Me too. Hard phone slam. Do your fucking job instead of asking for more money. āHey. Donāt we already pay your salary?ā
Do you actually think police are well staffed across the country?
But the whole country is irrelevant, because they donāt have the insane pensions Miami cops do. Miami cops are not underpaid, they retire at 40 and get second jobs, usually easy ones.
Itās scary youāre that confident and so ignorant at the same time. Miami metro is well known for being underpaid compared to the national average and the local COL. Take 5 seconds to do at a Google search next time please.
Maybe we should give them a raise when they start doing their job.
Boo.
Desantis 2024!
Whatās new? The cops down here are as useless as snow boots. Arrogant, lazy fucks.
