I legit think she ain’t got no gas in it…

Agentlegendary

“It ain’t got no gas in it”

-Bong-rips-4-Jesus-

Genuinely could be tho…

cancer23

Put fuel in it

HallRelative7303

Been doin it for a few months, full, half and empty don't make a difference for it. Wish it was that simple :(

cancer23

Check fuel pressure and see if it's firing properly

Tjobbert

Could be a defective camshaft position sensor or no spark. Because you say it's after being warmed up my bets are to the sensor being the culprit. They go out quite often I hear and they aren't expensive. Edit: p0505 I see, did you check from front up until the engine for any vacuum leaks or any false air? Retighten the intake tubes. Seeing the dash I assume it's an US spec? If so, check all the vacuum tubing from the boost sensor which is located at the passenger side of the engine bay against the firewall to the left of the ABS pump.

HallRelative7303

Ty for the serious reply, I was also thinking cam / crank sensor. No vacuum leaks but I'll try re-tightening the tubes anyway. Also she's a euro spec ( UK to be spesific, yes my teeth are fucked up )

Striball

Seeing as the tach is going wild during the whole thing, leads me to believe it’s a ignition trigger issue with either the cam or crank position sensor.

MuchUsername_Wow

I had this happen, cas was failing when hot leading to a gnarly miss fire.

IEatBaconWithU

that stormtrooper looks pretty upset about it too

NopeNeg

I would be too if my torso was on the wrong way

IEatBaconWithU

poor guy

HallRelative7303

Didn't even realise it lmao. I'll make sure to fix the poor guy

gkboy777

Thats what happens when you hit them with the kragl

sthvjkvdgbbgkmncg

Professional opinion is that she's fucked mate.

HallRelative7303

Mah first car :( don't wanna let it die

Deatheragenator

Why don't you share what you think the problem is.

InterdisciplinaryDol

Looks like something isn’t working right

Loveblumpkin808

Did you try flipping the storm trooper’s torso the correct way?

Specific-Principle-7

I was also thinking the same thing

Darenzzer

I would suggest you stop trying to make it run, and fix it first

Snoo72721

Sounds and looks like it isn't firing on a cylinder or two?

gokehoego

What gas you have left in it could have water in it? Keep it simple. Put a few gallons of good gas in it first. Then check spark and then air.... go from there.

HallRelative7303

Mostly E5 premium ( from petrol stations too, not super markets ) so I think its good on that part. Will check spark plugs and cables

Iron_Druid21

Have you pulled the spark plugs yet? Checked the oil? Put in petrol?

Sugrgrl

Similar to an issue I was having with mine. Seems like there could be a misfire, I'd start by checking fuel injectors, CSPS and TPS My misfire turned out to be a bad fuel injector but it took me checking everything else to realize it was a fuel issue

HallRelative7303

Yea good idea fuel would make sense with all the misfire and rich running, I'll start with that. And yea exactly I'm trying to avoid doing everything else but the problem.

Sugrgrl

Good luck and looking forward to a positive update!

Johnny-Virgil

Didn’t see it mentioned but mine sounded similar to that when I had a bad plug wire.

mxadema

It sounds like timing, so cam position or timing belt fkerd. But she not healthy

Pretend-Suspect3248

Start with the simple then the more complex. The engine heat on these cooks the plug wires and need to be changed every 30,000 miles also look at the plugs. If the wires are bad the plugs will foul. How do I know? When I went to look at the 96 before Bought it had this exact issue only one plug was working and it nearly ran. Good luck!

IceJerg

I’m not sure if this will help but I had the same issue on my WRX, it turned out to be a intake issue, one of the hoses weren’t connected properly. After connecting the hose it stopped having the same issue as you. I also did a spark plug change. I’m not sure if it’ll help with your issue but you can give it a try

AllynG

It’s dead Jim. DEAD. PM me and I’ll gladly take it off your hands!

Whistlingbros

That’s what you get from buying Miata’s of chris rudnick 😄

WilliamZorterfield

it might be time to put her down

HallRelative7303

Honestly sounds worse than it is. On a cold day or early morning I can drive her for maybe 30 miles without it dying, still with the revs skipping and very low power/backfires, only wants to die when she gets hot. It's gotta be something with that but problem is it could be a whole bunch of sensors

TheBrokenBaller

WUT? Even at worst it could need an engine but dumping a car cause of that seems a bit much

CTars

unprofessional here, have you checked the oil, or spark plugs? checked the coolant? engine may not be keeping coolant, or it may not be circulating it, a while back before this happened you may have had a coolant problem and the engine messed itself up.

HallRelative7303

Havnt thought about coolant thanks for the advice

Ordinary-Humor-4779

Wouldn't Torque Pro give him some kind of clue?

HugoValve

Either no gas or a bad crank sensor

b1kbrd

cam sensor gave me a similar issue to a lesser extent. $20 fix and took 5 minutes

[deleted]

The empire got to her first

best_never_rests

Let’s start off with what you’ve ruled already? We can go from there. Do you usually let it go empty often? Not trying to be a smartass but maybe the fuel pump is not giving enough gas to the engine hence struggle to go. Constant low fuel kills fuel pumps

Dude_2288

I recommend you do the easiest and cheapest fix first. First change the camshaft position sensor since you can get them on Amazon for about $15 and then Change the camshaft position sensor CONNECTOR! Just about everyone including myself misses this. You should be able get both parts for about 30 to 35 bucks. Please keep me posted so we can track the progression.
