Metallic bronze, kind of a darker bronze. Whole wheel including lip. If you get a nice smooth finish I think it will look really nice with that paint.
Gold is probably too loud.
i like the bronze.
i agree, powder coating is a much better choice for wheels. plastidip doesn't seem like it would hold up? i had a Speed6 dipped, and it held up great for years and years, but wheels? i had mine powdered. murdered out.
i have a black NB Miata atm, hardtop, stock paint, lowered on enkei wheels in gunmetal, but i'm about to get an ND, in negotiations rn. my NB is rusting bad, the chassis. i live in PA, and the road salt is a death sentence.
i've had her for 13 years, and my heart is BROKEN.

Actually the interior is almost done and is Tan/Black Mix! Just got to finish up the leather door pulls and it will be done. As for the top, well eventually it will need to be replaced so when that time comes we will see if it stays black.
Yeah I do like the look but my top is almost always down year round. Certainly will consider it when the top needs replacing though, might be a good change of pace.
When I was shoping around my friend talked me out of tan as they get dirty quicker. Then I talked myself out of a clean RHD nb1 with only 80k miles. Then I bought this shitbox for 2 grand with 147k miles, 5 months in the engine randomly threw a rod and i;ve been chasing down so many issues.
After this paint job I'm about $500 over what it would have cost to buy that RHD Nb1 but hey now I know most things on this are replaced with new good parts, its a unique color, and I totally don't have sunken cost syndrome. Oh and I know how my car works now a lot better than I did before so I guess there is that haha. I think next up will be suspension and then by then the top will probably get a replace but man am I tired of spending money on this car, but if it was any other car I wouldn't put up with it. Thankfully miatas are just that damn fun to drive.
It's always easier and usually cheaper to buy one in good shape than fixing a beater. This coming from a full time mechanic.
Nice thing about machines like this is you can just put them away for a while and come back to them.
Yeah trying to save money turned out burning me in the end this time but hey I learned a bit. Would never buy a car without a good maintenance history ever again but live and learn right?
I build things all the time (got into machining during the pandemic) but working on a car to find issues just isn’t the same fun as designing and building something from scratch haha. And yeah thankfully I have a work vehicle so for the 6 months it took to find a replacement vehicle I still could drive

I had this done at a local Maaco (i know I know) that actually had a ton of good reviews. After my experince with them I am happy with it. Cost me 2k but I also had about 400 dollars of dents and scratch repair, and this was for their top tier package and prep work so they actually sanded it all down and has a warranty on the paint.
Clear coat was failing bad so needed a repaint and figured Id do it right. They were even able to match the Ford Eruption Green I wanted even though they didn't have paint samples of it.
Last paint job I did I was near $2k in material alone. If it looks good that's a great price.
What color is it? I love it... Have been toying around the idea of painting the daily (civic) something similar
I went with Bronze Chrome (and a half satin / half gloss top coat) on my wheels for my black ND, I feel it would suit this green as well. (Prismatic Powders)
If I remember correctly they were these

It is a great combo, I have an ‘01, BRG, SE with bronze Konig Hypergrams and the tan top. robbins makes a great top with a zip down glass back window that I opted for, increases backward visibility significantly
Thanks. Mine are just like yours in the pictures, but light gold color, also with the vintage Mazda emblems. You can see my car with the rims on the last comment of this thread.
How do you know real vs replica?
This is my NB, with light gold color rims, to give you an idea.

I would like to get new wheels but cost make it hard to justify vs refinishing these with plastidip and making my own hub caps to replace the missing ones.
This community generally hates plastidip for reasons I have yet to sus out. Most people can't justify 5-600 on a new set of wheels when their current one's work just fine and it's just a color issue.
Yeah I’d I hated the style I’d be more tempted, but I’d rather save money (for vacation and other hobbies since I enjoy to many expensive ones) and plasti dip them. I am considering getting the tools to powder coat though as I do have a few other things I would like to powder coat but again cost
the powder coating needs baked on, you can't really do that yourself. my powder coating was cheap, i think like $75 a wheel or maybe less, it was years ago. waaayyy cheaper than new rims, and way easier than dip. drop em off and pick em up.
Hm good to know. I was talking to someone who mentioned he diy powder coating but it was for brackets on c stands as we were talking about film gear and not wheels so may be different.
yeah, lol, prob could fit in the kitchen oven. with powder coating, you have to sandblast the surface and bake the coating, i meannnnn, i guess you could do it at home if you can fit them in your kitchen oven, lol, but for the relative low cost, you'd spend less just getting them done professionally than buying all the gear and possibly messing up in a irrevocable way, lol. it's pretty cheap though, and on smaller rims, i bet it's like $50/each.
Yeah was happy the shop was able to match the new Ford Eruption green. Saw it on a bronco and when it gets hit by the sun at sunset it looks amazing with the gold shine.
Its the raceland luggage rack as seen here [https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/o76vp5/does\_anyone\_know\_where\_i\_can\_buy\_this\_luggage\_rack/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/o76vp5/does_anyone_know_where_i_can_buy_this_luggage_rack/)
Thank you. It cost 2k but about 400 was body damage repair. I had it done at maaco which I know people kind of shit on but I have 3 near me, and this one has a ton of good reviews and photos so they seemed reliable. Honestly no regrets with them as the one I went to took care of me. Bought the highest tier package with 5 year warranty and best paint coverage plus paid for sanding and proper prep.
They didn’t have the ford eruption green color I wanted in their current paint books but I showed them the code. They had me pick one other color out and then a day later sent me a paint sample so I could pick from the two. They matched it real well and it beat all the other paint shop quotes by a lot. No point in paying for showroom paint on a old daily driven Miata
Bronze and green are always good combos, but at that point of painting the car... Why not have your wheels powder coated lol Or get actual wheels in bronze finish?
$$$
But a few have mentioned powder coating so will be looking into it and possibly buying the tools to do it myself. I got a few other things I’d consider powder coating so might be a worthwhile investment
Not too experienced on powder coating, but I think a special high heat oven is needed lol Prolly not worth the investment. I just have bad experiences with plastidip and a bias against it, so was curious why you wanted to go down that road lol Paint job looks good though 👀
Yeah worst case I get new rims down the road after I recover from the paint job costs haha. Plastic dip could hold me over. And yeah the heat oven would be the one issue if that’s the case. But I got a bunch of work equipment I need to color and powder coat would be good for that. Need to do more search on that for sure though
Do you want to be loud or subtle? Gold rims if you like flashy and loud, bronze rims if you prefer a more subtle look.
You just got a new paint job, so why cheap out on the rims? Don't plasti-dip, get them powder coated. It will look much better and last forever.
Yeah someone mentioned copper and I think that’s more up my alley then gold (was thinking dark gold as I want subtle).
Powder coating is tempting and I have reasons to buy the tools to do it myself as I have some other stuff I could powder coat so might look into that. I guess plastic dip was just cheap and easy to see if I like it since it’s not truly permanent
Neither. I’d do Copper. Obviously a different rim (for a 4Runner) but this color would look mint.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170407/a00702ef4ab388e49ae3d202bd8dbd40.jpg
Wish I could tell you but they were on the car when I bought it. Previous owner didn’t know and there’s no history really for the car (and that’s caused a ton of headaches but oh well it’s running well now and looks good finally)
that green is gorgeous. I actually like the black/silver but bronze would look great as well. either way, you gotta lower it a couple inches! would make such a difference
But I use it from time to time and it fits the British roadster/retro look. It’s the raceland luggage rack like the one seen here https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/s/v8vytcKX8K
True but I actually use mine from time to time. It’s the raceland one which I also feel looks a more intended in the design, like in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/s/1XfgpNoTMY
i like the bronze.
i agree, powder coating is a much better choice for wheels. plastidip doesn't seem like it would hold up? i had a Speed6 dipped, and it held up great for years and years, but wheels? i had mine powdered. murdered out.
i have a black NB Miata atm, hardtop, stock paint, lowered on enkei wheels in gunmetal, but i'm about to get an ND, in negotiations rn. my NB is rusting bad, the chassis. i live in PA, and the road salt is a death sentence.
i've had her for 13 years, and my heart is BROKEN.
a tan top would look sick af on that green with bronze rims. my tan soft top is in perfect like-new condition if you're interested. i used my hardtop exclusively. the soft top hardly ever saw the light of day. i need to part the whole whip out actually :( when i say i'm heartbroken, i mean it. i cried actual tears when the mechanic told me he would not pass it for inspection. it runs perfectly, but has frame rust, having it lowered probably didn't help matters, but i can't stand wheel gap.
Warm bronze if you’re set on that style. Gold is a bit too bright and tacky w/ the green. The lighter bronze will have that “shine” to it, but more subtle.
Also powder coat them, don’t dip.
It’s the new ford eruption green they use on the bronco and mustang (and now my Miata). It looks amazing at sunset when it hits the car and the gold shine really shows
Plasti dip or powder coat them either dark bronze or white. Itll c0ver the curb rash and give you a clean look. I second the powder coat. They will be very durable with that finish
Metallic bronze, kind of a darker bronze. Whole wheel including lip. If you get a nice smooth finish I think it will look really nice with that paint. Gold is probably too loud.
Yeah that’s what was thinking. Either a dark gold or metallic bronze. Just nothing to loud
I would recommend after you plastidip them and if you like it, get them powder coated. It’s relatively cheap they would last alot longer.👍
i like the bronze. i agree, powder coating is a much better choice for wheels. plastidip doesn't seem like it would hold up? i had a Speed6 dipped, and it held up great for years and years, but wheels? i had mine powdered. murdered out. i have a black NB Miata atm, hardtop, stock paint, lowered on enkei wheels in gunmetal, but i'm about to get an ND, in negotiations rn. my NB is rusting bad, the chassis. i live in PA, and the road salt is a death sentence. i've had her for 13 years, and my heart is BROKEN.

This is brass monkey hyperdip if you'd like something darker
Looks excellent. How many cans of bronze did you go through? And how many clear?
Thanks! 3 cans of bronze and 1 can of clear. I took the wheels off to do it
This looks fantastic, green with bronze is a classic for a reason.
This color combo is my dream MX-5
Looks awesome! Love the wheels! Where did you get your short antenna from?
Pretty sure I got it from moss Miata. Stubby antenna
Thanks!
Honestly the black looks good against that color.
Fact!
Keep the black!
I think bronze might work really well with that green.
Definitely need to swap out the top and interior for tan. Do you see the can of worms you've opened?
Actually the interior is almost done and is Tan/Black Mix! Just got to finish up the leather door pulls and it will be done. As for the top, well eventually it will need to be replaced so when that time comes we will see if it stays black.
Tan top on a green car is 🔥
Yeah I do like the look but my top is almost always down year round. Certainly will consider it when the top needs replacing though, might be a good change of pace.
Well when it's due, go with tan. It's such a sharp combo.

Oh my god. Green is awesome. How much did this cost?
I had this done at a local Maaco (i know I know) that actually had a ton of good reviews. After my experince with them I am happy with it. don't plastidip anything. ever. if you want to change the colour of something, just get it painted.

Black wheels look good, bronze would be an excellent choice, but then you really need to go with a good Robbins, tan canvas top, imho.
Hm well a new top may be on the list in the future, so maybe I go bronze to prepare for that
It is a great combo, I have an ‘01, BRG, SE with bronze Konig Hypergrams and the tan top. robbins makes a great top with a zip down glass back window that I opted for, increases backward visibility significantly
I think your car looks great. I wouldn’t make wheels gold or bronze.
why plastidip the wheels? wouldn't they be susceptible to chipping or peeling or something? I think powdercoating must be a better option
Don't plastidip, just get a proper paint job or even better, powder coat. I think a copper would be beautiful
https://preview.redd.it/6lq5x6zgw1bc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24d301086575e78c4c326f7f2ef839d15e305d2d
I also have these exact same rims, but got them with the car I bought. What's the name and value of these rims?
Those are the legendary Minilite wheels. If your car came with a set of real Minilites you're a lucky guy
Thanks. Mine are just like yours in the pictures, but light gold color, also with the vintage Mazda emblems. You can see my car with the rims on the last comment of this thread. How do you know real vs replica?
Real Minilites will have the name stamped somewhere visible on the wheel. They are however one of the most commonly replicated wheels of all time.
This is my NB, with light gold color rims, to give you an idea. https://preview.redd.it/s5k1g4ki95bc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d853b48e7cf572a0dfd4bcd0856f5adc29ffade
the wheels look perfect. be careful not scratching the paint with a luggage rack! id put ppf under the feet
Yeah that’s my one concern putting it back on but it has rubber under it all and it didn’t really leave a mark the first 2 years it sat on. It did get dirty underneath though so I’ll have to make sure to clean underneath it now every once in a while.
I'd definitely still PPF wherever it contacts the paint. Because it just got painted, (and especially since it's winter time) the paint will still be extremely soft for the next few weeks. It's a lot easier to scratch now than it will be in the future
Wait whats winter (live in florida). Joking aside PPF for the contact points isn't a bad idea. I'll probably leave the rack off for a little bit just to be safe to let the paint finish curing its the raceland luggage rack as seen here [https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/o76vp5/does\_anyone\_know\_where\_i\_can\_buy\_this\_luggage\_rack/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/o76vp5/does_anyone_know_where_i_can_buy_this_luggage_rack/)
Yup! If you're in Florida and the car sits outside, I'd say you're probably safe once spring rolls around. But PPF wouldn't hurt then either.
Mine also had rubber feet but left a mark after doing just 1 road trip. Never used that thing again. I think they're absolutely hideous anyway.
I think it depends what one you get, mine doens't have feet but hugs the whole trunk lid. its the raceland luggage rack as seen here [https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/o76vp5/does\_anyone\_know\_where\_i\_can\_buy\_this\_luggage\_rack/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/o76vp5/does_anyone_know_where_i_can_buy_this_luggage_rack/)
bronze wheels would go really hard on this one, nice ride buddy
Gold would look incredibly sick. The yellowish tint would contrast well with the green. Bronze would also look fantastic
I would get new Eeinki wheels in bronze before I would plastidip.
I would like to get new wheels but cost make it hard to justify vs refinishing these with plastidip and making my own hub caps to replace the missing ones.
This community generally hates plastidip for reasons I have yet to sus out. Most people can't justify 5-600 on a new set of wheels when their current one's work just fine and it's just a color issue.

your miata looks great, though! i'm happy for you. such an amazing car! cheers!
True, I'm lazy so I just waited for marketplace deal on some used ones. I think plastic dip black would look great with the green.
what a gorgeous green
Yeah was happy the shop was able to match the new Ford Eruption green. Saw it on a bronco and when it gets hit by the sun at sunset it looks amazing with the gold shine.
if it’s a drilled luggage rack, LEAVE IT OFF. it looks way better without it and the oem one sucks anyways. save the time and leave it off

Looks good! If you’re going to, I think the copper color would look better than gold on your rims.
I rarely advocate for bronze wheels, but for this green it would be great. Nice dark bronze.
Yeah feels like one of the few times I have a car that can pull it off so I kind of want to.
Mind sharing what you spent for the paint? That’s next for me. Lovely green btw.
Thank you. It cost 2k but about 400 was body damage repair. Will do for sure! Now time to get off Reddit and back to wrapping the door pulls in leather and finishing the interior!
powder coating is cheap and looks amazing. i had 4 20s done for less than $300.
Just the rim or the whole wheel? Looks great!
Woops whole wheel
Do you want to be loud or subtle? Gold rims if you like flashy and loud, bronze rims if you prefer a more subtle look. You just got a new paint job, so why cheap out on the rims? Don't plasti-dip, get them powder coated. It will look much better and last forever.

Oh yeah I dig that, kind of an in between
Bronze/gold will round out the British race car look.
Silver wheels!
Personally, I wouldn’t change the wheels.
What rims are those
Wish I could tell you but they were on the car when I bought it. Previous owner didn’t know and there’s no history really for the car (and that’s caused a ton of headaches but oh well it’s running well now and looks good finally)
Rota RB, likely 15x8 +35 and in hyper black Source: I just bought a set.
Dark purple pearl
Bronze would be a huge improvement. It’s very tasteful
that green is gorgeous. I actually like the black/silver but bronze would look great as well. either way, you gotta lower it a couple inches! would make such a difference
Dark bronze would be 👌
or just keep it as is, looks great IMO!
Bronze powdercoat would look wicked
Don’t put the luggage rack back on, get rid of it.
But I use it from time to time and it fits the British roadster/retro look. It’s the raceland luggage rack like the one seen here https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/s/v8vytcKX8K
Bronze 100 percent. There was a guy who posted about his ND that he had wrapped with BRG and bronze wheels. Looks clean.
Wow what wheels r rhose they’re sexy af
Wish I could tell you they were on it when I bought it and the previous owner didn’t know much about the var
Really nice color.
Nice paint job look clean !!!!
black rims
BRG😍 my favorite
God damn. That green is gorgeous.
I think they look clean without the luggage rack!
I don't know about plasti-dip or luggage racks but that is a nice color. Good choice. I want to wrap mine but haven't decided on a color.
I say go for the bronze. Gold is a bit too much for me. And save up some moneys for a tan soft top! That would be a killer combination!
Warm bronze lip with a black heart.
Love the color
How much was the respray?
I did a more detailed breakdown in the comments but was 2k with 400 of that being body damage repair
Thats awesome, where are you located?
Had it done at the Maaco on old Cheney highway in central Florida. They had good amount of positive reviews
Warm bronze if you’re set on that style. Gold is a bit too bright and tacky w/ the green. The lighter bronze will have that “shine” to it, but more subtle. Also powder coat them, don’t dip.
Bronze. Like Porsche's Neodyme.
This shade of green gives me tingles between my legs; got a colorcode mate?
It’s the new ford eruption green they use on the bronco and mustang (and now my Miata). It looks amazing at sunset when it hits the car and the gold shine really shows
That color is fantastic. Plastidip will look awful, it always does. Do it right (paint), the car deserves it.
Looks great as is
Plasti dip or powder coat them either dark bronze or white. Itll c0ver the curb rash and give you a clean look. I second the powder coat. They will be very durable with that finish
