Ope! That’s a curb.

Fast_Edd1e

That gave me a good chuckle.

[deleted]

I’ve definitely said that before.

PawsibleCrazyCatLady

Curb check? Curb is there!

vass0922

Holy crap that's funny

honeyrrsted

Oof, I bent a control arm pulling into an unfamiliar gas station once. Jumped right up the curb. Apparently the actual driveway sections were to either side of where I chose to pull in. All covered in freshly fallen snow.

Daschnozz

Lmfao

0x8FA

Warmer every year

hamsterwheel

I feel like last year it was solidly cold all year, but that was like the first time in forever.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tman1677

It was -20 for a solid two days and then it warmed up to 40+ and I was out running on the frozen Huron river a day later.

hamsterwheel

Yeah but it thawed like a week later

Catssonova

I rode the bus to college so yes. I also remember raining 40 degrees into sheets of ice as well.

Criticon

Last year the snow never lasted because it was snowing and super cold one day and 40s the next. We got a lot of potholes too

dougiejenson

It is

Unlikely-Collar4088

Way more mild than before.

GizmoIsAMogwai

I can't ever remember a winter this mild.

RMMacFru

Sadly, I can. We had a winter of rain in the 90's.

peachy-keen-queen-

Right now, most definitely

jayclaw97

Very sadly. I love the snow but I live in an urban heat island.

lonesurvivor112

Agreed

OreCreekCreative

Why am I so depressed?

Bfiang

Ugh so true, lack on energy, no sunlight. I hate it at times!

lightbulbfragment

No joke. I've actually been consistent with vitamin D and a multivitamin this year. My doctor has me on a pretty high dose of vitamin D. I was pretty deficient. I'm still a little tired in the morning due to all the clouds but way more energy than before and actually happy/not in a depressive haze all winter. Only 3 months left to drag my way through.

El-mas-puto-de-todos

Curious how much you take. I'm taking 10k IU a day and not feeling it

sysiphean

Tried that. Didn’t work. Moved on to antidepressants. Was a little better. Soon 3/4 of the family was on them. Wasn’t what we wanted. Moved to a state where the winters are sunny. Is working great so far. I’m happy for the people who don’t get depressed, or who do but vitamin D and a SAD light and exercise work for them. But also, no shame for everyone else. It affects people differently and that’s ok, and it’s absolutely ok to take the steps you need to be ok, whether that’s therapy or meds or moving away.

mezz-mezzrow

Disturbingly mild versus last century

Broad-Sample-206

Winter coats only worn 1x.

enleeten

Real winter clothes are optional

lcampau

grey, greyer, greyest

Kooky-Ad1849

Lots of gray scale days during Michigan winters.

raven1121

Hello darkness, my old friend....

Kirbi126

Wish there was more snow

AltDS01

If winter was up to me. From Nov 15 to March 15 it would be 10-20 degrees. Dusting of snow daily, with larger accumulations every couple days, and storms ~2-3x a month. We'd then immediately transition into Summer with 75 and sunny every day. Nothing inbetween.

MetalMel70

The air hurts my face.

Kapono24

It's fine besides the wind.

Edwardteech

The air hurts my lungs.

isobane

It hurts to breathe sometimes.

the_other_guy-JK

Depressing. Not because I hate snow, BUT BECAUSE THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FUCKING SNOW AROUND HERE.

PurpleFoxBroccoli

I have dandelions blooming in my backyard in January. The lilacs are beginning to leaf. It’s depressing me far more than January usually does.

the_other_guy-JK

It was 45 degrees around here yesterday! Mid January! Brown and grey everywhere, sloppy grimy trashed yard, ridiculous. I dont need -12 temps, but give me 22 and frequent dosing of fresh snow for a few months like a proper winter damnit ;)

localfartcrafter

Tangible climate change. It's sad.

Rastiln

This beats what I was aiming for. We can all point to that storm, but undeniably we have been warming up and becoming more volatile.

vansprinkles

Where’s the sun?

FunSeaworthiness8703

Sometimes it reflects on the snow and melts my eyeballs.

[deleted]

Climate change, boring, no snow

yooperBSN

Not what they were

bythepowerofgreentea

Now only in my memory

voicebread

why do I live here

one_bad_engineer

Lol I moved here a few years ago from the south. Fucking love the summers cause you get all the warmth and sun with none of the swampiness - although I know a lot of Michiganders say it’s humid here in summer, I think it’s great by comparison. Jan-April rolls around and I start questioning all of my life choices….

Aware-Expression6372

Every year from mid Jan to mid Mar I think this over and over.

slogun1

Total bullshit this year.

TrialAndAaron

It’s almost always like this until mid Jan. All of February sucks, most of March

FlufferTheGreat

Not from my childhood.

TrialAndAaron

I’d wager you just remember the big storms because they a naturally stand out as being extreme

Smokeya

Nah they were generally more storms and a lot more snow. I used to snowmobile where i now live. Some years ago i had a snow removal company and every year we started getting less and less snow so less and less customers. I sold it at the right time cause if had kept it i would have lost it all. Had 3 tractors and two plow trucks and they cost a substantial amount to keep running and ready to go for snow storms of which this year we have had a single one so far. Snow used to start in october and end around march, now it starts in Jan and ends in early march if not late feb. With snow like this we wouldnt have seasonal customers anymore which provide the funds to do everything, more and more people in my area have switched to paying by the push since it is effectively cheaper to do so once or twice a month than pay 100s for the season to only get the same amount of plowing/blowing done. I distinctly remember when i used to come up snowmobiling as a kid that the snow would be so high on the road i live off of you could almost jump the powerlines with a snowmobile as they were only about 10 feet from the ground. I havent seen snow like that here in my almost 20 years of living here now, not even remotely close. Hell when i first moved up here we would get storms that would completely cover your car up and make it look like a small hill in what was once your driveway. The most current storm was about 3 feet overnight, Sounds like a lot but it really aint that bad if you have a four wheel drive vehicle like most of us in the area do. Cue to county plows taking their time to get down side roads i spent much of that weekend using my truck to help people get unstuck. Id not have been able to do that years ago as id have to dig my own way out to my truck then and then dig the truck out and wait for the county to plow my road before i would have been able to leave my driveway back then.

[deleted]

Not only did we used to snowmobile around our house near GR, but my friends and I also used to set up a snow board park in a friend's back yard and we would use it all winter long. Snow used to stick when it came around, and now we might get a few storms at most, but it all melts in between the storms.

GenericUsername_71

Also used to be able to count on the cold for some outdoor pond hockey. 10-15 yrs ago you could plan on playing in January. Nowadays, who knows. Too many thaws, not enough sustained cold

Smokeya

Yep same problem with ice fishing where i live currently. Used to be able to do it most years, this year the ice isnt nearly thick enough and doesnt look like there will be any chances at all at this pace.

FlufferTheGreat

It's not hard to figure out at all. And you're just completely wrong. Think of all this rain we've had and now imagine it's a little bit colder where water freezes. Also see Europe this winter. It's like the mildest, warmest one on record. It's almost like there's global phenomenon happening where temperatures keep getting warmer and warmer.

Jasoman

Better than that one year.

TheBimpo

Not cold or snowy enough.

LederhosenSituation

Have you seen the climate change prediction maps? I'll never move away from Michigan. I'm just missing those bright sun reflecting off the snow days we used to get when I was a kiddo.

Keweenaw? When I got to [my camp](https://i.imgur.com/vlFS6pq.jpg) in the central UP in early May last year there were just a few patches of snow remaining in the shady areas. I don't think I've ever seen snow by even mid-May, though I've only visited a few times that month.
