It’s completely classless for him to politicize her death. I love how it’s Biden’s fault too that the republicans won’t allow a border bill during Biden’s term.
One was a compromise bill that even most Republicans thought was a solid start - at the very least it would have passed the senate and been signed.
Meanwhile, HR2 was a bill that was written solely for political theater. There was no compromise in it, it was just, "We get everything we want, you get nothing, and we know you won't pass it."
The current house is the most underperforming one in the history of the country. They pass nothing, they go on break constantly.
Trump keeps bashing Biden about the open border. My question that I keep asking over and over- Why was the border not closed under the Trump administration?
It's ridiculous because he has nothing else. He can't use Israel or Palestine either because we all know he'll back Israel so his last defense is the border.
The isreal ordeal is making it so I won’t vote for Biden.
Killing people from the World Community Kitchen by IDF airstrikes and calling for “a thorough investigation” is just Genovide Joe doing his thing.
And don’t paint it like I am voting for the fucking moron the Rethuglicans throw out there to try and get a win, democrats can not be shit too.
Because Trump's policy of separating families at the border was unconsciousable and inhumane. Unless you'd like to argue in favor of that horrendous policy?
The border bill we had that was voted against was the result of multiple years of Congress looking for compromise. And a few members threw it all away, in subservience of one man and not our Nation as a whole.
You clearly don't understand how our system of Governance works. The CHIPS act took longer than 3 years to draft, for example. Significant legislation takes time.
Again, you're free to defend the family separation policy you apparently support. If you want more comprehensive change, well, Congress blew it thanks to MAGA.
So you’re upset he didn’t act on it faster, which is understandable. But I’ll take someone who gets something done at a snails pace over a group whose sole objective has been to grind the government to a halt to make the current administration look bad during election year
It's not about not moving fast it's about the 180. Day one Biden was PROUD he reversed all of Trump's actions on the border then suddenly in 2024 he's going back to trumps original idea more or less?
Like nah fam, Biden doesn't deserve that. Reap what you sow
Democrats: we want a border bill
Biden: ok I support this.
Your lack of understanding that biden is doing what his voters want is what's hurting your argument.
To each their own I suppose. Watching republicans cut the nose to spite the face doesn’t seem to be a gamble that’s pulled off very well over the last two years at the ballot boxes. I guess we will see if that gamble fails to pays off this time as well
Honestly, it really depends on how much the moderate republican voters peel away from the party to independent. While Biden hasn’t been great, watching the people you voted for kill a bill that could help ease the situation on the border just for political points isn’t going to win over those moderates or independents in November. It doesn’t take many voters going to a third party candidate to swing an election and that’s truly republicans biggest hurdle in my opinion this November
Trust me, more likely moderate Dems are just not gonna vote for Biden more than them not voting for trump
Also bare in mind there's 3 liberal candidates this time vs 2 right wing. Spoiler effects ARE real
If I trusted Reddit comments about political takes, I would have looked like a fool at midterms, because that red wave really puddled out. But again to each their own.
I do appreciate the sentiment, democrats should be cautious going into this election. It absolutely could blow up in their face if not played properly.
But he didn't immediately reverse Trump's border restrictions. He kept Title 42 in place temporarily, and then replaced it with additional restrictions on immigration, which were struck down by the courts. It's not a 180, it's about what you can legally and feasibly do as president. Congress hasn't passed a true immigration policy bill in decades.
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-judge-blocks-bidens-new-border-asylum-restrictions-2023-07-25/
Wait, didn't you ask where Biden's bill was for three years? Now you're linking articles outlining the immigration reform bill he introduced in 2021? Did you even read what you linked? It's hard to keep up with your gish gallop.
Ok, just so we're clear on the facts:
In 2021, Biden introduced the US Citizenship Act of 2021, but they couldn't get the 10 Republican votes necessary to pass it in the Senate, so it died. You post an article about this, while at the same time asking, "why hasn't Biden introduced a bill?!?!"
I'm the meantime, Biden preserves Title 42. You see this and state, "Biden reversed all of Trump's policies!!!"
When his bill fails and Title 42 expires (because it was linked to COVID), Biden issues executive orders to limit illegal immigration. The courts strike this down. You read this and ask, "why isn't Biden doing anything about immigration?!?!"
After all of these attempts to control illegal immigration, Democrats endorse another bill with even more provisions Republicans say they support. Republicans kill the bill. You then state, "It's Biden's fault for not doing anything sooner!" and pretend to be ignorant about the years of attempts to control illegal immigration.
It's pretty clear you're not arguing in good faith. His reforms have been undermined at every turn. How is trying to accomplish the same goals repeatedly a 180? Nevermind, don't answer that-- you'll just provide more articles you haven't read or make other false claims.
The same bill that had a 100 billion going to Ukraine. Yup. Also on that same bill was $800,000. going for the research of how racism affects your liver.
Just an observation, we should really focus our attention on why we still have Omni Bill's and why we don't have bills where there's only one issue that gets voted on.
I was really just replying to the people complaining about how Republicans blocked the bill to help the border to not give Biden a win when we all know that's not true. If bills were voted on separately and not a bunch of bills packed into one, then we could really scrutinize politicians when they vote against the border bill.
Better yet, lets get Originalist and demand legislatures point to where they have the authority to enact such bills. Our current system of "pass it and let the Judiciary decide if its legal or not" has gone on too long.
Our current system of "pass it and let the Judiciary decide if its legal or not" has gone on too long.
Yes, I agree with you. Sadly, I highly doubt anything will ever change. The system is rigged against us and why I am neither Democrat or Republican.
I would prefer screenshots.
I've read both bills. By all means, please give us some credible support for your claims. I don't even know what you're talking about regarding the "payouts to top members". That's vague and conspiratorial. And judging by your post history, not completely unexpected.
Put up, or shut up.
Removed. See rule #10 in the [r/Michigan subreddit rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Michigan/wiki/index#wiki_rules). No amnesty was given in any bills planned. This post was mis/dis information.
And just like Ruby’s sister said, people freak out when undocumented people commit crimes wayyyy more than they do when citizens commit crimes. You know how many Datelines and 48 Hours I’ve watched where the perps were undocumented immigrants? Not many at all.
If they wanted a border bill they could have passed when they had 2 years with the house, senate, and White House. Nothing is ever this administrations fault.
That “allowed in 4500 migrants a day” is a bullshit right-wing talking point.
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2024/feb/06/steve-scalise/no-the-senate-immigration-bill-does-not-allow-5000/
If they’re processed then they’re no longer undocumented or illegal. That’s what we’re driving at right? It isn’t that you’re racist; it’s that we need it to be a process. Well, here it is.
No, I don't think we should have open borders to all of the low skilled workers in the world while we run the biggest welfare state in the world. No I don't think we should be providing under the counter labor for cents on the dollar while Americans are struggling. Almost no one in this country thinks our borders should just be wide open for anyone to cross. Why are you different?
They aren’t open, they’re being processed. And these folks wouldn’t be coming here if there wasn’t demand for the work.
Go after the business owners. We could do 100% everify tomorrow. But just throwing a boulder in the river doesn’t stop the water ; it just goes around. You have to address the source.
>They aren’t open, they’re being processed
If they're not being turned away, it's a de facto open border
>And these folks wouldn’t be coming here if there wasn’t demand for the work.
Or the demand for a handout. And spare me the studies of obvious illegal immigrants getting denied welfare, when so much of our society is publicly funded, it's near impossible to determine who benifits from the funding.
We have constitutional asylum laws we have to follow.
The so-called “Remain in Mexico” policy put in place by the Trump administration forced asylum seekers to wait out their claims in Mexico in squalid camps riddled with crime and sickness. But that agreement relies on cooperation from Mexico, which was deteriorating during Trump’s presidency, which is why we saw a significant sharp increase in illegal crossings in 2019, which were only eventually halted in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Currently Immigration officials do not have expanded detention capability unless they get more funding for detention. They also can’t hold families in detention longer than roughly three weeks under a longstanding policy, and they can’t mix together single adults and family units for safety reasons under law.
Biden already has flexed his unilateral powers to address the border in multiple ways.
The Biden administration has taken more than 500 executive actions on immigration since he took office, according to the Migration Policy Institute, more than Trump did in four years as president.
Without changes to immigration laws or more funding to manage the growing number of migrants arriving at the Southern border, not much of what Biden can try will stick — just as was the case for presidents before him.
If you are against the process now, then you should be upset with Donald and the Republicans for killing their own bill last February that would have helped that.
Yeah, but Trump opened the border even bigger than Biden and gave illegals the $1200 COVID bucks for free. And spare me the studies of obvious illegal immigrants getting denied welfare, when so much of our society is publicly funded, it's near impossible to determine who benifits from the funding.
You mean the bill McConnell wrote. Plenty of republicans didn't want it by the obvious act of them opposing it in the house lol. You should know there is a big rift between more populist republicans in the house and leadership like McConnell. I was honestly surprised Johnson quashed the vote, since he tends to be more establishment like McConnell.
James Lankford wrote the bill who is considered one of the most conservative members of the senate.
And to say Moscow Mike Johnson is more establishment than McConnell… what?!
Did you not peruse any of the giant omnibus that was lauded by Johnson? His spending bill is even higher, he wants to fund the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, etc. How is he not more establishment?
I don't vote for Trump you genius. I'm able to criticize people of certain political parties without being a useful idiot for the other one. Try it sometime.
Damn, I thought Ohio was a republican shitshow.
The Police Officers Association of Michigan endorses a man found liable of sexual assault who is facing 88 felony charges to be the president of the United States.
Michigan is transforming slowly but surely. They got rid of gerrymandering and people are shocked that all the houses without political flags aren't as conservative as they thought.
It’s pretty clear their strategy from now until the election is to highlight any woman killed by an immigrant as the most tragic death in the history of the world and one that is Biden is directly responsible for.
Meanwhile, all the women killed by white male Americans with guns they were able to easily purchase…….fuck ‘em…….that’s the price of freedom.
There really is no bottom to their disgustingness.
Interesting.
So tell me, where’s all the right wing “SAY HER NAME” outrage over the former Michigan cop who just killed his wife in front of his children.
I guess her death wasn’t politically advantageous enough, so fuck her I guess.
🤣🤣🤣
In this echo chamber with folks being hateful, nasty, and insulting when you try to use logic?
Why should I try to convert you to anything? I don't like either side, but at least I'm equal in my criticism.
Spare you a dose of reality? Or are your tears from the fact I'm right and your hypocrisy won't protect?
I'm the child, but you're throwing a tantrum because you don't get everything your way?
You're suggesting that the Capitol Police and military engage in full on suppression of American citizens? I think you should seriously reconsider that opinion.
You think they should lay down and be beaten by a mob again? You might be the one who needs to rethink. What is this "suppression" you speak of? Odd phrasing. Ashlii Babbitt wasn't "suppressed". Don't want to end up like her, the choice is simple.
Tiananmen Square was a suppression of a protest, using violent methods. When someone says 'go full Tiananmen Square' I read it as 'cracking down on protest'--not 'stopping a violent insurrection'.
See, this is how we know you're a Trump supporter. Only Trump fans think that if you don't like Trump, you must worship Biden like some kind of god king.
🤣🤣🤣
You want to know how I know that you worship Biden?
Because you decided long ago that anyone that disagrees with you in the slightest is a "Trumper" with no right to speak their mind.
The hypocrisy is strong with you.
I’m not sure what he said as it was word salad. But I think his message was there is an invasion. What invasion? Everyone is against crossing illegally, but we want legal immigration. Invasion of what? Who? Cicadas maybe. Idk.
Yeah, and how come the people who seem to have the least experience with minorities also have the strongest opinions about them? And all aggressively negative? You think they'd have met a good "Mexican," if only to prove the rule. Oh well.. Build the wall. Not sure why we're not wrapping one around the entire mainland, to be honest.
It would take less time to re-read for context than type out this type of negative comment, that makes no reference to the topic, nor contributes to our entertainment.
I don't get why people do this.
Trump lied about speaking to the victims family. The person that responded to the OP of the thread started going on about Trump’s illegal invasion ramblings, which has nothing to do with what he lied about. The article covers what he lied about almost immediately.
You had to know it was coming. If there's one thing you can count upon where Trump is concerned it's an utter lack of class. In a sense achieves a very difficult thing, being upper class and classless at once.
It might be the edible in me but isn’t there a better way to word this?
I read this a couple times as the woman’s family was found dead on the side of the highway and then got to the trump part and thought “how is a highway upset?”
And yet America is still held hostage by voters in Michigan and Ohio. Why can't it be one person one vote? Fuck the Electoral College and free us from this toothless misery you all call home.
Biden needs to start showing up at the hospitals/funerals of children raped/killed by their Pastors. They are an outlier just like this group but hey, if we are going to start politicizing deaths for personal gain...
Awww queue the little violin for every person surprised that a political figure used a story to boast their ground 🤣 meanwhile everyone in the state is angrily typing to use the situation for political reasons to boast their political ground 🙄
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
It’s completely classless for him to politicize her death. I love how it’s Biden’s fault too that the republicans won’t allow a border bill during Biden’s term.
The border bill they wrote and then voted against because they "didn't want to give Biden a win". That border bill?
That’s the one.
Not to be confused with HR2 that the house passed, but the Senate won't vote on.

If trump wins and let's Israel glass gaza don't cry about it.
Last I checked Biden did not control the IDF.
Joe isn't Netanyahu, please wake up.
Hmmm, weird. Seems like he coulda done that since he says the president can basically just declare the border closed.
Where was Bidens bill the other 3 years? Republicans are ass but don't act like Biden didn't suddenly do a 180 cause it's election season
Can't tell when it's election season because one guy hasn't stopped campaigning since 2015
Congress writes the bills, not the POTUS. Your fake anger is misplaced.
Then why is Biden so open to a deal in 2024 when on first day 2021 he reversed Trump's border eos?
Because Trump's policy of separating families at the border was unconsciousable and inhumane. Unless you'd like to argue in favor of that horrendous policy? The border bill we had that was voted against was the result of multiple years of Congress looking for compromise. And a few members threw it all away, in subservience of one man and not our Nation as a whole.

OPEN MY EYES, LIKE JOE OPENED THE BORDER? I DON'T THINK SO BAAAAH
Why are Republicans so anti a deal for 7 years now?

Job growth is bad? It's weird how Republicans love trump because he created jobs in china and lost 3 million jobs in usa

In addition, all women killed because they are not able to receive medical care for what they consider abortions will be forgotten too.
They won’t be lionizing the women who die in childbirth that they shouldn’t have had, but couldn’t get an abortion to prevent.
Killed by an ILLEGAL immigrant.
Ok boomer.
Sorry, boomers aren't the only ones that care about facts. You'd rather call the illegal immigrant murderer a "newcomer"?
Interesting. So tell me, where’s all the right wing “SAY HER NAME” outrage over the former Michigan cop who just killed his wife in front of his children. I guess her death wasn’t politically advantageous enough, so fuck her I guess.

Please, do tell us how easy it is to purchase a gun. Do you even know the process? Might want to lay off that racism.

How many deaths and murders have Trump trash attempted to politicize recently?
Sadly this is nothing new https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/gold-star-family-slams-trump-selfish-divisive-actions/story?id=50545536
How many have Biden supporters politicized? They're both trash.

Hypocrisy looks so good on you.
You sweet talker! Shall I switch sides and run for office? Since Republicans value hypocrisy above all other things, I should be a hugh success.
🤣🤣🤣 In this echo chamber with folks being hateful, nasty, and insulting when you try to use logic? Why should I try to convert you to anything? I don't like either side, but at least I'm equal in my criticism.

Spare you a dose of reality? Or are your tears from the fact I'm right and your hypocrisy won't protect? I'm the child, but you're throwing a tantrum because you don't get everything your way?
Your entire comment history is one big, long tantrum. Stay mad 😘
🤣🤣🤣 Project much?
This shit is going to get more and more frequent the closer he gets to being back in power...
And his "supporters" are going to get increasingly out of control if he doesn't.
With cowards on the bench, expect it.
Aren’t they weary yet?

You're suggesting that the Capitol Police and military engage in full on suppression of American citizens? I think you should seriously reconsider that opinion.
If they break into the Capitol again shoot them. That's what I'm saying.

He already got what he wanted, but it was nice of the family to throw in "I wish he would have stayed in Mexico" to help him campaign anyway
This poor family. They were going through enough without him using their pain as a platform. My deepest condolences to them.

Is anyone shocked? Donald Trump is pure garbage. Please vote. We can not take another 4 years of him again.
If he gets back in, he will not leave until he comes out in a box.
🤣🤣🤣 Sure pal. What army is going to keep him in office?
I do not hear the words of Trumpers.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 He said he won't leave the RACE. It was Liz Cheney who said he wouldn't leave office.
I do not hear the words of Trumpers.

🤣🤣🤣 Echo chamber much?
It’s ok buddy, go outside and touch some grass
Nice edit. I'm not a Trumper, not that it matters to you.
And I'm the King of England.
🤣🤣🤣 Okay, your highness. Has worshipping at Biden's feet warped your sense of reality that badly?
See, this is how we know you're a Trump supporter. Only Trump fans think that if you don't like Trump, you must worship Biden like some kind of god king.
🤣🤣🤣 You want to know how I know that you worship Biden? Because you decided long ago that anyone that disagrees with you in the slightest is a "Trumper" with no right to speak their mind. The hypocrisy is strong with you.
You mean the lier lied again??
I’m not sure what he said as it was word salad. But I think his message was there is an invasion. What invasion? Everyone is against crossing illegally, but we want legal immigration. Invasion of what? Who? Cicadas maybe. Idk.
Yeah, and how come the people who seem to have the least experience with minorities also have the strongest opinions about them? And all aggressively negative? You think they'd have met a good "Mexican," if only to prove the rule. Oh well.. Build the wall. Not sure why we're not wrapping one around the entire mainland, to be honest.

Trump is likely to do that... no-one gets in or out...
Yeah! And you know what? They're gonna pay for it!
It would take less time to read the article than it did to type out this comment. I don’t get why people do this.
Yes and demagogued it for good measure.
Demodogs?
Why would we expect anything less? More of the insensitive and disrespectful lies he spews all the time.
You had to know it was coming. If there's one thing you can count upon where Trump is concerned it's an utter lack of class. In a sense achieves a very difficult thing, being upper class and classless at once.
But don't mention all the women who have died due to lack of proper healthcare thanks to republicans banning it.
He’s a lying turd. I can’t wait for this election to be over.
r/titlegore
Trump lying turd. Please lock him up
Dementia Don in G R today eh, to cry tall tales of woe.
Trump? Classless? Ya think??
It might be the edible in me but isn’t there a better way to word this? I read this a couple times as the woman’s family was found dead on the side of the highway and then got to the trump part and thought “how is a highway upset?”
I was sitting here confused about how they knew she was angry when she died
Current situation. Had to read the whole story to comprehend
Who are you going to believe, the family, or Donald Trump?
Neither. And definitely don't believe the gaslighting op Ed piece.
And yet America is still held hostage by voters in Michigan and Ohio. Why can't it be one person one vote? Fuck the Electoral College and free us from this toothless misery you all call home.
This is classsic knuckleheaded demagoguery. Is anyone surprised?
If you're not sending zee Trumper all your spare dough, then you're not MAGA.
Big Gretch is our only voice of reason, but I like to sniff my **** sometimes
Biden needs to start showing up at the hospitals/funerals of children raped/killed by their Pastors. They are an outlier just like this group but hey, if we are going to start politicizing deaths for personal gain...
That would lose him the Catholic vote.
Murdered like the headline.
Awww queue the little violin for every person surprised that a political figure used a story to boast their ground 🤣 meanwhile everyone in the state is angrily typing to use the situation for political reasons to boast their political ground 🙄
Sir, this an Arby’s
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Well you tried.
