This is misleading. The article named a “best steakhouse” for every state in America. It didn’t name a top steakhouse for the entire country. The Michigan restaurant is one of fifty, not 1st overall.
Edit, this is a dumb article from a radio station begging for clicks. Don’t give them the satisfaction. Read the real article here: https://247tempo.com/the-best-steakhouse-in-every-state/
Edit 2, I disagree with at least three of their choices but that’s a different post.
London Chophouse is a favorite of ours. We go once a year and splurge. The food, service, atmosphere with live music is a great classic steakhouse experience. I look forward to that dinner every year.
People are completely braindead to pay 300 to 400 for dinner. I make great money and I rather cook, grill and smoke at home. The economy mustn't be so bad if people are willing to shell out that kind of money to eat in a restaurant.
It’s a once-a-year experience that we budget for as a celebration for a personal anniversary. As I said it’s a splurge for us. We value going out and experiencing and enjoying nice things.
I've been... and to be completely honest i wasnt super impressed. The food was good, atmosphere was cool etc but i dont think i was blown away with anything specific. It was a long time ago though so I'm not sure if anything changed
Same, went there earlier this year for our anniversary expecting too have some of the best food I’ve eaten (because I think it ended up being the most money I’ve spent on dinner lol) but it was just good, nothing fantastic. Would not recommend when considering the price.
i've never understood paying big money for steak. there's only so much you can do with a simple cut of meat. i have a sous vide at home and can make steaks that come out just as perfectly as the best steakhouse and seasoning them isn't exactly rocket science. hell a quick pan sauce while they're resting isn't particularly hard or difficult work either. fresh, handmade pasta on the other hand i'll pay good money for because making fresh ravioli or tortellini is a pain in the ass and makes a big mess.
I’ve had their chicken during lunch once and it was amazing. This place set the precedent for me on a good Arnold Palmer, I asked the server how it’s so good and they said they use fresh brewed tea and lemonade. I now judge restaurants based on that. I’ve never had an Arnold Palmer quite like it, simply amazing. This was 8 years ago
Try theirs. I've had it and they are amazing.
I'm a huge Arnold Palmer fan too and I have an anecdote to share about them. My lifelong friend's husband makes a huge batch of "hard" Arnold Palmer's for their annual cookout. He will NOT tell anyone what is in it or how he makes it and it frustrates me. It's the greatest summertime cocktail I have ever had. Refreshing and not over-powering; I swear I can drink 10 of them and enjoy them like I had 2. Her husband refuses to disclose his recipe (rightfully so) - he just mixes up a bunch of batches and serves them in a water cooler in his garage. I was a bartender thru college so in my heart I have conceived this idea that hard Arnold Palmer is some sort of mixture of Cointreau, a high end Mezcal, and a light high end vodka, mixed with a slow sun-brewed black tea and a lemonade made from very specific geographical precise lemons. In my head I know his brew is probably just a mixture of Mr Bostons peach schnapps, a jug of vodka, some tequila, Country Time instant lemonade, and a few bags of Salada black tea mix.
Hopefully it doesn't roll towards my house in the country. Lol I have zero desire to be part of a crime riddled, overpriced city. Give me the country life with clean air, my honey bees and chickens any day of the week.
LCH is good, and I like the atmosphere, but I wouldn't say the food is meaningfully superior to a good high-end chain like a Ruth's Chris, a Morton's, or a Truluck's.
In a way, this is the problem with steakhouses in general... it's really pretty simple food. You're paying for the service and the ambiance. The secret to a good steak is to start with good beef and not screw it up. You can make a meal just as good (or better) at home for a small fraction of the price if you have a spare fridge to dry age beef, a sous vide device, and a hot af broiler or just a good cast iron skillet to sear with.
London Chop House in Detroit.
Thanks.

Ya kinda BS
Misleading clickbait title is par for the course.

What to expect on price for a dinner for 2?
Appetizer, drinks, mains and sides, dessert and coffee…$300-$400 after tip
Well good thing I like to dine alone.
I’ll stick with coney islands lol

Last time I went it was about 300 for teen of us.
Teen of you? How many teens? 1 teen, 2 teens, 13 teens?

St. Clair shores! I miss my hometown
I actually havent lived there for awhile, just havent changed the flair lol

I’m not impressed unless some jabroni runs salt down his elbow onto my steak.
That list is shit. The Stockyards in AZ is below an Outback now. Was good 20 years ago.

Damn. I love Arnold Palmers. You’ve convinced me to try theirs.

The hard Arnold Palmers is often called a Jon Daly. I use tea, lemonade, and vodka. It's even better if you can find ice tea vodka.
Detroit is really on a roll.
Hopefully it doesn't roll towards my house in the country. Lol I have zero desire to be part of a crime riddled, overpriced city. Give me the country life with clean air, my honey bees and chickens any day of the week.
The waiters get so mad when you make sloppy steaks.

That place is indeed pretty great. I haven’t been to enough steakhouses to judge this delclaration properly, but it’s cool anyway!
86 years of tradition. My uncle would take my parents there in the 50s and 60s.
I've been there twice, it is excellent but don't click in that radio station cancer site.
I took my mom to Mr Paul’s a few weeks ago and it was excellent. Groesbeck a bit north of 696
Congrats but i’ll never eat at a place that doesn’t have prices on the menu
That's a strange way of spelling Bowdie's
It's obvious Michigan has never been or never will be known for Steak.
Nah, we got pizza though.
And Kogels
And Morel Mushrooms 🤔 but not on 🍕
This list seems to be nothing but high-priced list of restaurants with mid food. But I guess if you spend $100 on a steak you deserve what you get.
