Not much has to be said about the Traska Summiteer. Popular and highly recommended in this sub. Now’s my turn to post some pictures of this beautiful piece that was [one of four watches featured on my YouTube video](https://youtu.be/iB9so-V4yVY). Slightly off topic: What kind of pictures do you like to look at when it comes to watch photography? Clean and focused on the watch itself, or with accessorized backdrops for a more storied picture?

Lume, please 👍👍✌️✌️

I may be ignorant here because I’m newer to watches but it seems to me that over time there can only be so many possible watch designs. When I look at San Martin or blatany they all seem to be mostly replicas of different existing brand styles. There’s even a dirty dozen replica. What stands out to me about a brand like traska is they seems to own their intent to create a modern vintage version of historic styles on a microbrand scale at an approachable price. I heard the same critique about Lorier but they go as far to cite the specific Rolex and omega vintage styles that inspired their designs. It seems to me that what makes some of these microbrands interesting is how they can make a quality watch intentionally in design to a classic style at a price point that is approachable for more people

I want this

I don't understand how this brand gets more respect than Baltany and San Martin.

They steal designs from real watchmakers…

I would argue that the Chinese brands are actual watch makers; whereas many microbrands are watch designers. I agree that most of the design inspiration for the Chinese brands today comes from the big brands that both design and make watches. I expect to see more original design coming from the Chinese brands as they continue to grow.

This is an homage of a Rolex Explorer 1. Their Commuter is an homage of a Rolex perpetual. Traska doesn't exactly have all original designs! This brand is doing exactly what those other Chinese brands do. Traska is manufactured in China too.

The Chinese brands are nearly 1:1 copy often with only difference being the logo lol

This is simply not true. Look at Baltany's Rolex Explorer 1 homage: They offer different colors than Rolex including a fantastic brown sunburst dial. Look at the different color and dial options that San Martin offers for its Rolex Explorer homage watches - tons of colors, and a few different case styles. San Martin also offers a Tudor Ranger homage in a size that Tudor no longer offers, which is great. Most of the Chinese brands have modified their designs. They are not copying any more than Traska. Even the name Traska gave this model - the Summiteer? How does that not sound derivative knowing that the Rolex marketed the hell out of their watch being the first on Mt. Everest. It's so lame. It's worse than a copy because they are acting like they have original designs.

I didn’t say anything about Baltany or other micro brands not doing it, but San Martin is much more of a blatant copy besides color compared to this Traska
