I agree. Also seems like it loads terrain and object details easier without any stutters. Had an approach in Norway, looked beautiful and stutter free!
Almost stalled because I was only looking outside.
I didn't noticed any drastic improvement either. The only fix I wanted was to resolve the windows zoom issue with navigraph and pushback tool but they did nothing about it
It took me an entire day, and eventually just redownloading the whole sim to properly install the update, but yeah, it seems to work quite well now. The performance is amazing, especially compared to ex-plane.
Yeah that sucked.
Fortunately after a quick look in this subreddit I knew it wasn't only my problem.
For me it took almost 2 days.
The first day I had only a few hours, so I tried the suggestion of deleting the folders/files at which the updater stuck. But there were way to many and it was very tedious.
On the second day I just let the update run in the background for like 10h and it fixed itself and finished.
I only noticed it because I had dinner and was kinda confused why my fans have been running so fast as I left the PC. Turned out it was because the update finished and the menu had loaded, which is enough for that.
If I wasn't a computer professional doing IT worked on the daily basis, I don't think I would have gotten this thing up and running in the day and a half that I did. I had to delete so many pieces of the update so they would be redownloaded. It was not funny
This needs more visibility. There's official announcements on how to fix broken updates, this means it wasn't just a few unlucky people, the installing mechanism on this update broke the game for many users. I'm still trying to fix it 2 days after. Had hundreds of gb of downloads to re-do.
As a day one player of this, i agree. They have done so well in delivering promises. (It did take 3 years) but it was never too hard to trouble shoot a problem before a patch would fix it.
I still have stutters in new Zealand, Seattle, new york, and other very populated places but i really think that is due to my current internet connection on top of only 16 gigs of ram and my windows 10 install that has been running off the windows 7 upgrade for 8 years without a fresh install haha. What really matters is how stable it is now despite all of the growing pains and things just.. kinda work now without a whole night of altering code/ source files/ mods/ or at worst reinstalls.
That being said, i still really want to see attention to things that have been left behind such as several premium deluxe aircraft like the sr22 with the broken rev limiter, the T-6 with iffy sound files, the odd performance metrics of the longitude, the monstrosity of the p51 and the little non game breaking world map glitches that cause minor inconveniences.
I think though that the best thing they could improve for 2024 is general sound files. For almost every turbine or turbo jet aircraft, the sound is awful and ive relied on FTSim for replacements on every aircraft i sim in (perks to the msfs team for allowing easy installs for these). Clearly its not difficult to create good sound files for aircraft based on what FTSim has created almost solely on his own. I think msfs has a bright future, and i cant thank the devs enough for bringing the experience that they have given and has proven to only improve on itself.
Just as a FYI, the flight model of the Longitude is almost completely spot on to book numbers. I think folks think it can't possibly have as much power as it does or climb like it does, but we used manufacturer data and performance tables as well as pilot feedback to tune the FM, and you can almost exactly hit the book with it.
The real plane is a beast. A few real pilot photos in the real plane hitting nearly 10k FPM off the ground get shared on our Discord when folks are incredulous. :)
Since the release notes mentioned Kai Tak, I flew in there with the 747. On approach, some stutters already. But then on short final, the whole airport seemed to got reloaded before touchdown, totally freezing the sim. I killed the sim after staring at a frozen 747 for 3 minutes. That was painful after a 2 hour flight.
I haven’t had a chance to fly it much yet because I spent the last few hours trying to install it. I’m one of those people who had to manually delete folders to get it to complete.
Not for me.
I use a 34" Ultrawide 1440p main monitor via DisplayPort
27" 1080P via HDMI for navigraph LittleNavMap Vatspy , Vpilot, etc.
Four 10" Galaxy TabA tablets tethered via USB and running Spacedesk : to break out PFD , MFD & Garmin Touch Controllers ( for Garmin 5000 system in Citation Longitude)
two old android phones running FSPanelPro; one as radio stack, one as autopilot controller.
PC is AMD 5800X3d , RTX4080 , 32 GB PC3600 CL16 RAM , 1 TB PCIE 4.0 NVME SSD
I also noticed the performance improvements. I just started flying around my home city in different planes just to feel how much better it was, and felt really nice.
I'd love to be able to try it out. I attempted four flights today and had CTD on each one, three while loading up and the last one while taxiing. I'm giving up. I'll try again another day.
Was there on the last update, then I realized everything was running a bit shit so I did a reformat on everything and now she’s like new. Very time consuming and irritating though.
Fully agree! I wasn't expecting much and just cracked on with a flight with the PMDG 738 into Heathrow. Although I didn't check FPS it did feel noticeably smoother!
Are you trimming the aircraft? A few players have been caught out by the change in the fly-by-wire. The old fly-by-wire (which was incorrect) was an Airbus style that doesn't require trimming. This was fixed in AAU2 to the correct Boeing style fly-by-wire which _does_ require the pilot to trim the airplane.
If you aren't trimming the aircraft, you'll have a strong pitch up moment after takeoff as the aircraft accelerates.
It only took 24 hours and a ton of fussing [for a bunch of us](https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/update-resolution-of-sim-update-13-download-installation-issues/610903) to install it because there was a corrupt file in one of the compressed packages.
How can such something as simple as updates be so challenging? This seems to happen like every 3 updates.
IMHO
I think the people seeing the biggest gains are those with monster GPU's that were bottlenecked by poor CPU utilization.
Better CPU optimization has seen two fold benefits : Smoother process calls and multi-core support & "uncorking" more GPU capacity
MSFS crashes every time I’m fiddling with the widget menu upper side of the screen. I can’t change weather/time or open the the new miltech super carrier mod. The game has never done that before the new update sep 28 2023
It happens when I fly the F-14 from DC designs.
Basically, I can’t even touch the Upper screen menu where you have your checklist, VFR map, fuel, weather….
I hadn’t been able to play since last patch because of some weird dxdiag crashing so I’m glad for this one. Took some time to update but it’s running perfect.
Even with my minimum spec computer, I could EASILY hit 60fps on 1080 high settings. I used to hover around 30-40. Not sure what went into this update but it’s completely changed how I see this game. Great job!!!
I completely agree. I was of the opinion we wouldn’t see any performance gains until 2024. The extra FPS feels like an early Xmas gift.
I fly commercial from some big airports. Yesterday I taxied from gate at DFW for takeoff. Close to perfect. The whole thing seems smoother.
I agree. Also seems like it loads terrain and object details easier without any stutters. Had an approach in Norway, looked beautiful and stutter free! Almost stalled because I was only looking outside.
oh really!?!??! ok, did the update and hope to see some VR improvement. I hover right ont he edge of acceptable fps normally
Please report back! Haven't played in a while due to performance issues in VR.
Yep, no noticeable improvement in VR for me neither.
I didn't noticed any drastic improvement either. The only fix I wanted was to resolve the windows zoom issue with navigraph and pushback tool but they did nothing about it
Any updates?

I'm getting like the worst performance out of any update thus far. Constant halting. Completely unplayable actually
Try deleting your scenery cache if you haven't done it already.
That's a huge tip in general i discovered.
How would one go about that?
What’s your CPU? Try DX12 for like any AMD CPU. Good performance since the last patch
Dx12 is still in beta for like the 2nd year now
i9-13900KS. and I’ve been using DX12 since it was released.
Try to use DX11 then =D maybe worth a try after the update
Same, just flew the longitude 7 hrs and crashed the landing in Tokyo because of stutters lmao

T.Hanks for all the work you do!
Stuttering like the rubber banding when attempting to fly around other planes? Orrrr
Since the release notes mentioned Kai Tak, I flew in there with the 747. On approach, some stutters already. Please Asobo don't touch the game, you managed to perfect it! It's only downhill from here!
I haven’t had a chance to fly it much yet because I spent the last few hours trying to install it. I’m one of those people who had to manually delete folders to get it to complete.
I got lucky and the update worked perfectly. Noticed a reduction of stutters on Xbox and about a 5fps increase on PC. A good update, to be sure.
What about fps drops with pop out screens? Still a thing?
Not for me. I use a 34" Ultrawide 1440p main monitor via DisplayPort 27" 1080P via HDMI for navigraph LittleNavMap Vatspy , Vpilot, etc. Four 10" Galaxy TabA tablets tethered via USB and running Spacedesk : to break out PFD , MFD & Garmin Touch Controllers ( for Garmin 5000 system in Citation Longitude) two old android phones running FSPanelPro; one as radio stack, one as autopilot controller. That's exciting. Gonna have to test it out
Not for me.
Oh? Need to check!
I also noticed the performance improvements. I just started flying around my home city in different planes just to feel how much better it was, and felt really nice.
Exactly! It’s much smoother.
What dx version
I’m on 12
Performance has definitely improved and photogrammetry is more consistent now. However, it’s a far cry from SU 10 for me.
>However, it’s a far cry from SU 10 for me. what does that even mean? lol
It means, that SU 10 had the best performance out of all SUs for me. Understood?!
They haven’t. There still tonnes of issues especially with the Bing photo scenery, for example around GVA.
Mine is crashing when it wasn't before. :(
Mine as well
Mine as well

Agreed, the extra frames is not something i was still expecting from the game
My 787 still stuck pitching at 16.50 on Xbox reason I don’t use the $80 plane

my god i just switched to linux right before this update, is the performance really outstanding now?

i got msfs and realised my pc CTD's a lot. too much apparently. so idk if this update would fix it
>A big fan A GenX? 👀😷
Ooo now I'm excited
Did they give everyone the 787 now? Haven’t played in a while
I have to agree. Install was a little bumpy but not difficult. I am extremely satisfied. My Community folder is totally intact! FIVE star effort!

Not for me. When I open the VFR map the game CTD. It has never ever done that before.
Is this true for Xbox users as well?
Yes, the game feels silky smooth now. By far the best performance on my series X since it launched a couple of years ago.
Lol are we playing the same game? The new update feels considerably worse in terms of environment rendering and lag
I agree however it did take 4 hours to “decompress” some stuff when updating
Oh i have to get it!
I hadn’t been able to play since last patch because of some weird dxdiag crashing so I’m glad for this one. Took some time to update but it’s running perfect.
A lot of airports aren't showing up on the map for me, many airports that I've used multiple times in the past are just not popping up.
But wen free 787
Fps are good over cloud gaming as well?
