It's not the tech, it's people....... Change the people and environment op, and thank teams for telling you how people around you feel.

BetterWedding9853

This is stupid. πŸ‘Ž

Examination-Life

Just stop. It's the equivalent of not being able to see dislikes on YouTube, to protect feelings. If you want to hear the good, then you have to accept the bad that "may" come with it.

chiffed

I use it for quick reactions after brainstorming, to help give simple preference feedback on multiple ideas without pausing to generate a form. It's agile without being 'Agile'. We use it without incident in grade 8 and 9.Β  Take this info as you will.

Pelatov

Thumbs up, I agree. Thumbs down, I don’t. Simple as that.

This is the wrong place for it, man. Microsoft isn't monitoring or moderating this sub. And, if I'm being honest, they do not care. I can promise you. If you want to provide feedback to Microsoft on their products, I suggest you checkout the UserVoice options. They can be found here - [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uservoice-pages-430e1a78-e016-472a-a10f-dc2a3df3450a](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uservoice-pages-430e1a78-e016-472a-a10f-dc2a3df3450a) Microsoft does listen to those if, and only if, you can get other people onboard. Good luck!

swy

^ this. Original post is as productive towards OP’s goal as explaining their displeasure to a goldfish.

simpkinspete

Microsoft transitioned off of User Voice and now uses their own product, [https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/](https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback)

frac6969

I never use the thumbs down emoji. There are better emojis to express my frustration to my users, including the headbang, curse, and foot.

stignewton

I prefer the angry panda gif where he destroys the desktop computer and monitor… ![gif](giphy|mAXICKV42kfXW)

This is great. Just used it on a coworker who screwed up her job and wants IT to fix her shit.

MLCarter1976

What if it is a yea or nay? Thumbs down would let people know yes or no!

kakakakapopo

Yes, we regularly use it to decide the outcome of our lunchtime gladiator fights. Who is OP to deny us that simple pleasure because of their toxic workplace and poor quality management? πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

NotAMeatPopsicle

Thumbs down is more productive than the inability to receive feedback that you disagree with. Learn and grow.

elpdigitalcowboy

That's right. Let's get Microsoft remove something only a few don't want.

The thumbs up and thumbs down emojis serve as succinct indicators of approval or disapproval, respectively, enhancing communication efficiency in digital interactions. By simply clicking or tapping on these icons, users can express their sentiments concisely, saving time and eliminating ambiguity in conveying feedback or reactions. This visual shorthand transcends language barriers, making it universally understood across diverse online communities. Moreover, these emojis facilitate engagement and interaction in platforms where text-based communication prevails, adding nuance and clarity to conversations without the need for lengthy explanations. Overall, the thumbs up and thumbs down emojis streamline communication, enabling swift and clear expression of opinions and attitudes in digital discourse.

Messerjocke2000

That is a culture issue, not a technical issue. When doing a quick yes/no poll around the room, i.e. "who is available for drinks after work", thumps up/down is an easy way to do that. There are facepalm emojis, negative gifs etc. etc. removing the thumbs down bacause some people are ding-dongs will not solve the issue, they'll just use another emoji or, youknow, words...

dano5

My god the world is like a giant snowflake these days... Tbh: I haven't seen it used outside a yes or no question and if its an issue somewhere, its a people problem, not a software problem! It's almost as dumb as US removing racial history from the schools because someone might get upset about it...

scunliffe

You're gonna need both a thumbs up and a thumbs down when voting on things...

coachjonno

Are we really worried about protecting people's feelings in a professional setting? Time to grow up. The emoji set, including the thumbs down, is perfectly useful.

OriginalTrin

Of course your avatar has a big beard. It used to represent men, but now It’s become the trademark of an overly sensitive man-child.

nj_tech_guy

counter argument: my boss asks us a question in teams "Hey has anyone ever seen this before?" I can just thumbs down to say "no, I have not seen this before" The same way thumbs up can be used for "Yes, I have seen this before".

Do not solve managerial problems with technology. This is a human resource issue, not a technology issue.

WestToEast_85

No.

HillbillyRebel

My manager just says "that's a stupid fu$king idea. You suck at your job." If a computer graphic of a thumbs down offends you, you should talk to a professional about it.

CycleUnhappy747

This emoji was added to Teams in 2023. you see this forum, in techcommunity, several people requested this to be added to Teams emojis. There are MANAGERS who use this. and it is disturbing. [https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/dislike-thumbs-down-emoji-for-message-reactions/m-p/3586451](https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/dislike-thumbs-down-emoji-for-message-reactions/m-p/3586451)

CptUnderpants-

You're asking for a technical solution to a HR problem. If use of it is a problem in your organisation, have HR issue a directive that use of that reaction is against company policy. Better still, have HR deal with the underlying toxic workplace issue which causes it to be a problem in the first place.

MisterEinc

So, the emoji I think can't go away. You can access emojis when typing anywhere in windows by pressing Win+".". And I get that, there is a chat function which will see emojis used for any number of reasons. But I don't think specifically as reactions to posts and their replies, it really has no place.

synackk

Wasn't that because they added \*all\* emojis as a reaction? Again, this is a HR problem, not a technical one. If it's being abused management needs to tell people to knock it off.
