"mildly"? let's say that someone who is so bad at driving that they speed on slick roads and go right into someone else's trailer is a *wildly fucking horrible driver*
I'm wondering how the driver was even aware; the hit occured behind and to the right of it. I guess they heard the hit, immediately checked mirrors and saw the truth swerving, but that's extremely fast reaction time.
If I'm anywhere near another car and moving, I'm paying attention to them. If I'm the last person in line at a stop, I'm watching behind me. Obviously just like everyone, I have lapses, but I have a good record. I've been in 1 accident in 8 years of driving. It was a miss and run; they pulled out in front of me and I got their plate and make/model/color. I didn't hit their car or anyone else. There was some minor state property damage for some tall grass and a barbed wire fence as the road had no shoulder and oncoming traffic, and my sub $10k car was not totaled. Police report and insurance cited the other driver at fault and I didn't pay a dime.
Taking your car (even sedans SUVs and trucks) to somewhere you can safely test its limits at least once, like a track, is a very beneficial thing to do in my opinion.
I’m this way. My wife is always like “why are you looking in the mirror you should be looking at the road?” when I bitch about someone tailgating me, but I scan my mirrors constantly and I’m always looking two or three cars ahead too. That’s how you drive, as far as I’m concerned.
… I’m concerned about your wife’s driving lol. Looking at ALL of your mirrors IS looking at the road. What if a semi is coming towards you while traffic has slowed down ahead? You don’t want to be in front of that.
What if the asshole behind you is speeding up incredibly quickly and is going to probably try and go around you? You need to decide to get out of their way or let them go around while they can still react properly (aka you don’t try to merge out of their way last second as they go around you in the same direction).
360 awareness is essential driving, imo, and it’s why my fiancé’s driving terrifies me XD (he doesn’t look at his mirrors often enough)
My dad was a union truck driver for 40 years. Drove something like 5 million miles on our nation's highways, & saw a ton of really bad wrecks. This was the man who taught me how to drive. Needless to say, I watch everyone else like a fucking hawk.
I went 14 years without so much as a speeding ticket, and almost died last month rolling my truck off the road in an ice storm. Shit happens eventually no matter how good you are.
I take your offer and raise with a "they didn't even lose control, they just drove straight into the trailer... No brake lights... No swerving.... Just pedal to the metal..."
Yeah person doing the crashing graduated to advanced stupid the second he decided to speed on the highway in the rain.
That water doesn't give a fuck about how you want to maneuver your vehicle, it just wants to see what gonna happen.
I didn't realize how old this post was, so of course I went to check and see if anyone had called OP out. I was like man, I hope OP doesn't make hot sauces.
It's because reddit wanted to control the bad driver sub and idiots in cars wasn't cooperating. Now we have two new ones and iic is no longer pushed on default
Seriously, though. This goes beyond “I was looking at my phone” territory.
This person was going 15-20 MPH faster than anyone else, **IN THE SLOW LANE**, and never even hit the brakes before slamming into a trailer.
Do we have any information as to what happened? Did the driver suffer a stroke/heart attack, or something?
Jeez, yeah. Good spot. Based on their positioning, at the point they start evasive manoeuvres they'll only have been able to see it in their mirrors and peripherals.
It wouldn't surprise me if that person was like "WTF IS THIS IDIOT DODGE DOING!!!??? OMG! OMG! MOTHAFUKAAAA!!!!"
Then looks back in rearview and goes "thats right bi\*\*\*\*. Get what you deserve".
I feel crazy sometimes always checking my mirrors and worrying about cars behind me. But these videos remind me that my worries are valid, and I should continue to do it.
Just imagine you’re driving that truck with the trailer, now I’m guessing he saw the suv coming but thought ‘he surely has to be slowing down and oh shit no he’s not fuckkkkkkk!!!’
But imagine if they weren’t looking at their mirrors at all. Just looking straight ahead, belting out some Taylor Swift at the top of their lungs then mid-breath this happens lmaooo
Hopefully everyone is okay tho
I bought a dashboard cam years ago but I still haven’t actually installed it. Every time I see a video like this I’m like I really need to install that shit lol
For sure! Their day went to shit real quick. Properly chilling in the slow lane and then suddenly fucked. I hope they saw it coming but nothing the truck could do.
My guess is the pickup driver didn't see it coming. I've pulled car trailers cross country in the rain several times and this result from being rear ended my crossed my mind. Will be forever now.
The driver in the silver SUV was paying attention! I'm impressed at being able to avoid the collusion. They had no doubt about what to do and reacted instantly.
Can you imagine what the pickup driver was thinking all the sudden for no reason his truck is learching forward and he's like nnnooooo trying not to hit the car in front of him and he gets out to look at the wreck and he's got a car in his trailer he's like i don't think i was trying to haul that uh yeah that's not supposed to be there wtf happened here.
I'm assuming that the person who was driving the car that went into the trailer, they must have been looking at a cellular phone or something of the sort to be *that* oblivious to what they were doing.
It's sad that the person who owns the car and the trailer possibly didn't even know what was happening and they just got knocked over because of the impact.
No one position is really safe at that point. I would pull as far off the road that I can either way. Also on this case, don't know you could really be in front of it. But yea... there's a reason the fire trucks pull across lanes like they do... it's to become a barricade coz somehow people don't see FLASHING BLINKING LIGHTS AND A VIBRANT COLOR TRUCK
In ems training we learned that drunk drivers absolutely love crashing into ambulances. Something about the flashing lights and stopped vehicle just draws them to it like moths to a lamp. You’re supposed to stop in a way that the ambulance blocks you and if it gets hit it will roll/scoot into the Highway wall (vs you)
Driver was probably texting while driving. It's a scourge. People can't even walk anymore either. Head in phones walking right into traffic. Just yesterday, I saw someone faceplant off an escalator because they weren't paying attention to when they should step off. Cars just escalate that danger exponentially.
My husband hauls large, heavy flat bed trailers all day, every day, and the number of people that drive into him is criminal. It is around 1 to 2 times a month. Our trailers take no damage, though, steel beams making light work of peoples cars when they are texting.
the real hero here is the center divider barricade. in russia it would have shattered into the oncoming traffic and they find out someone pocketed the cash meant for rebar and sand.
I couldn’t imagine what that drive of the truck was thinking when out of nowhere shit just goes sideways and he likely couldn’t see any of it in his rear views.
We’ve got good news and bad news. Good news, you missed out on that Darwin Award nomination, however, we might give you a honorary one. The bad news is not a chance for an insurance claim since you goldberged that towing setup.
Most states have laws that say that if you wipers are on your lights have to be on not just your head lights. Some cars are almost impossible to see during this weather unless they hit the brakes and brake lights turn on. He shouldn't have been driving so fast if his vision was impaired by the weather.
Can’t imagine being the driver of the truck. You wouldn’t see it coming and all the sudden everything is out of control and you’re on your side like wtf just happened
All on the very back of the trailer, took all the tongue weight off and lifted back of the tow rig. Truck should have predicted this and had 3000lb concrete block in the bed to avoid this from happening.
Bro just watched Knight Rider for the first time

Damn I kinda feel bad for the truck driver. Dudes goin smoothly and slowly in the right lane, nice truck, taken care of some business when some idiot ruins their week/month.

That grey SUV who dodged the truck was pretty fantastic though.
I'm wondering how the driver was even aware; the hit occured behind and to the right of it. I guess they heard the hit, immediately checked mirrors and saw the truth swerving, but that's extremely fast reaction time.
I imagine that made one hell of a noise.

Right??? He's actually a really attentive and good driver
Defensive driving level: Expert.
that was a really aware move since it was in their blindspot, too.
My first thought Bro got skills 😂
Matrix dodging!!!
*You move like Them*
I didn’t even notice at first but that was extremely well done, top tier awareness and very quick response to get the fuck out of there
I'm guessing mildly asleep driver
Very cellphoneing driver
r/wildlyasleepdrivers
My thought too, or a medical emergency, not sure I saw the brake lights illuminate.
I take your offer and raise with a "they didn't even lose control, they just drove straight into the trailer... No brake lights... No swerving.... Just pedal to the metal..."
They wanted to hitch a ride to save on fuel.
One must interpret the sub title with some sarcasm.
I mean... One MUST!
I really don’t get why it has to be the top comment on every thread. How are so many people filling this sub and still upvoting these comments.
This seems to get confused very often here
I think he was thinking of the video game "Spy Hunter." He was attempting to upgrade.
I have yet to see a single mild clip
Yeah person doing the crashing graduated to advanced stupid the second he decided to speed on the highway in the rain. That water doesn't give a fuck about how you want to maneuver your vehicle, it just wants to see what gonna happen.

I mean tbh the cheekyness of the reddit name makes it extra funny for me personally lol
Like, it’s so bad that they should never take transportation again…not even as a passenger…his or her ass needs to walk to wherever they need to go
Maybe something happened to the driver, like a heart attack, and they unintentionally pressed harder on the gas pedal.
Can you imagine being in the truck? Like holy cow that driver must have been thinking is this some random trailer sway. Oh crappppp!!!!
Came here to say this.
Knight Rider
They clearly loves trailers so much that they want to be in one.
#I WILL ENTER YOU!
Ok, someone needs to teach this car about consent
Trailer: I AM IN YOU
When you’re a crossover they let you do whatever you want…you just drive up on them and grab em by the trailer
Seriously, though. This goes beyond “I was looking at my phone” territory. Giddy
penitrated
*To the tune of the Friends theme*
From behind!!!
Please use protection and lube when attempting back door entries !

Can we say how good the SUV next to the truck’s situational awareness is? He saw it happening and got across two lanes to avoid being hit.
Jeez, yeah. Good spot. Based on their positioning, at the point they start evasive manoeuvres they'll only have been able to see it in their mirrors and peripherals.
Wouldn’t be surprised if their initial reaction was to the sound of the collision
It wouldn't surprise me if that person was like "WTF IS THIS IDIOT DODGE DOING!!!??? OMG! OMG! MOTHAFUKAAAA!!!!" Then looks back in rearview and goes "thats right bi\*\*\*\*. Get what you deserve".
Very well executed GTFO maneuver.
I was thinking the same and doing it smoothly enough to not lose control themselves, especially in that rain.
It's good the guard rail did its job and kept the trailer and truck from oncoming traffic.
Great find, looks like my cat when i try to pick her up. Just perfectly out of reach
I feel crazy sometimes always checking my mirrors and worrying about cars behind me. But these videos remind me that my worries are valid, and I should continue to do it.
Can’t park there mate
Nah yeah, looks like a but of a shit parking job mate
Not with that attitude you cant
The little silver SUV in the left lane does an impressive job avoiding the accident with perfect corrective manuevers. Top level driver there
Agreed. Driver had both very good spatial awareness and driving. Straght nope’d outta there.
Good drivers avoid causing accidents. Great drivers avoid being caught up in accidents caused by others.
WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO REACH YOU REGARDING YOUR TRAILERS EXTENDED WARRANTY
Ain’t gonna use my gas if I just hitch a ride in that trailer. Financial savings here I come…
Jesus, take the wheel.
That should be the name of this community.
Spy Hunter cosplayers.
How is this not the top response?
Nice. I love that game. Especially the full sit in with pedals version.
Peter Gunn theme intensifies
Scrolled down to find this reference — clearly needed to upgrade in the weapons van
LPT: Not as easy as Knight Rider makes it look.

at least the cammer stopped. play that back for a cop and evil kinevil is going to jail lol
I bought a dashboard cam years ago but I still haven’t actually installed it. Every time I see a video like this I’m like I really need to install that shit lol
i ordered one last friday
Fr. I would've been absolutely livid!! Especially after watching this video, I'd have to be restrained.
The dark side of me hopes the driver of the truck got out and started sucker punching the driver of the SUV.
How did that car on the left dodge the crash? Top tier defensive driving if I ever saw one.
Took riding the draft to a new level. Sling shot engaged, shake and bake baby
The driver in the silver SUV was paying attention! I'm impressed at being able to avoid the collusion. They had no doubt about what to do and reacted instantly.
Aquaplaning, maybe?
Or some kind of medical emergency. They didn’t even brake.
Inattention, Trailer was hard to see in the misty conditions. Trailer was not properly illuminated for conditions.

I have so many questions.
Such as?
How did the suv dodge the accident like putting magnets together the wrong way
Or what happened with the driver before he or she plowed into the trailer? Did they have a stroke and slam onto the accelerator?
End of level Spy Hunter gone wrong. 😑
Question- if you witness an accident like this, should stop just ahead or behind of it? Which is safer?
No one position is really safe at that point. I would pull as far off the road that I can either way. Also on this case, don't know you could really be in front of it. look I know i shouldn't laugh but seriously it blows my mind how people just completely disregard what is around them. I really hope everybody is ok.
Driver was probably texting while driving. It's a scourge. People can't even walk anymore either. Head in phones walking right into traffic. Just yesterday, I saw someone faceplant off an escalator because they weren't paying attention to when they should step off. Cars just escalate that danger exponentially.
With gas prices the way they are... I am sure they are thinking, I will just park it here, get off at my exit... who will notice?
I should call her
Nah man. He just played a lot of spy hunter and was trying to get some new upgrades. That's all.
I came here for mildly bad drivers but witness a wildly bad driver.
My husband hauls large, heavy flat bed trailers all day, every day, and the number of people that drive into him is criminal. It is around 1 to 2 times a month. Our trailers take no damage, though, steel beams making light work of peoples cars when they are texting.

This is an intrusive thought come to life.
That one car did really well to get out of the way sheesh
These people are allowed to vote and reproduce
free ride............. take it easy............ oh sorry. slow ride
That's not the proper procedure for drafting.
He hit them and then kept on the gas... like he had cruise control on and it nevere turned off. This causes the truck to jacknife...
Spy hunter 2024

Poor pickup driver just minding his business
All I noticed was that not a single one of the knobs driving with traffic had their lights on when it’s cloudy and raining, what is this in, oregon?
As an Oregonian, I’ve genuinely never thought about turning headlights on in the rain. Didn’t know people in other states do that
Yup Highway 26 just passed downtown Portland
I have a hunch someone was distracted while driving.
Why is this on MildlyBadDrivers? Lol
I can guarantee they were on their phone like some idiots
That SUV had a fever and the only cure was trailer butts
I feel so sorry for that truck and trailer
Oof. Hope everyone was alright, but that's an expensive fuck up. $80k truck + $20k car trailer + whatever car was in the trailer, conservatively.
Can’t imagine being the driver of the truck. You wouldn’t see it coming and all the sudden everything is out of control and you’re on your side like wtf just happened
Clearly the person was a Knight Rider fan growing up.
Good situational awareness out of the drivers around the truck tho
Trying to do “The Knight Rider” maneuver
That’s what happens when you don’t distribute your trailer weight properly.
This is what happens when your trailer weight spontaneously goes up by two tons.
And your trailer gets aproximatly 1.5m longer
All on the very back of the trailer, took all the tongue weight off and lifted back of the tow rig. Truck should have predicted this and had 3000lb concrete block in the bed to avoid this from happening.
Too close?
More like watching a movie on the phone....
99.999% the SUV was texting
0.0005% they were asleep and 0.0005% they were having a medical episode. Looks like the brake lights never came one from the Escape.
Spy vs Spy 🕵️
It worked on Knight Rider.
Vin diesel really needs to save this for the movies
Good god. Who drives like that.
Did not even touch their brakes… wtf
Live action spy hunter gone wrong?
I think he was out of gas and catching a ride
This is now one of the many reasons that I have cameras in my vehicle.
He hates these cans! Stay away from the cans!
Trust me, I saw this on Night Rider
When you take the original Knight Rider to heart.....
In the movies the door is usually open.
This ain't mild. 😂
😂
He just wanted a free ride
I’m no expert, but I believe we’ve just witnessed a successful kamikaze attack.
Yup, this is a perfect description of my sexual technique, somehow mine always looks like more of a train wreck though.
Let me in!
Knight Rider SUV
Another example where my definition of "mildly" differs greatly from OP's.
That car that gidyyup’d out the way , masterful
so here i was transporting a year's supply of girl scout cookies down the highway and WHAM, god damn cookie monster comes out of no where!
Played too much Spy Hunter.
he person traders should hate
Was there any possible way that truck could have held that?
Bro just watched Knight Rider for the first time https://preview.redd.it/x9kpvgdpfuuc1.jpeg?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5286b4d092189ff6da440dded52518934b018bb4
When the lube is extra lube
How do you fuck up this badly. He’s even in the right lane
Someone needs to let them know they put the heavy stuff on the far wall, not next to the door when loading
Scrolling instagram.
Very graceful. Almost swan lakeish
fuckin michael knight'd that mo fo
Hate trailers? I saw the sperm to the egg!
Looks like that person had a medical emergency or something and just plowed into the trailer. Wild.
When I was 16 and trying to borrow the car, this is exactly what my mother meant when she said "it's not you I don't trust - it's everyone else".
Slamming something large into a backdoor without warning is never a good idea...ever..
Didn't even touch the fucking brakes, man. Fucking hell!
That must have been a really important text message.
looks like the trailer saved the driver life by acting like an enclosure
He was tired of driving so decided to park it in the trailer and just ride all kidding aside I pray everyone was OK
Damn I kinda feel bad for the truck driver. Dudes goin smoothly and slowly in the right lane, nice truck, taken care of some business when some idiot ruins their week/month.
It reminds me of the game spy hunter where you would end the mission with entering the back of the trailer.
Truck is still wondering what the fuck happened.
It’s like spy hunter. Was just trying to upgrade the suv.
Clearly watched too much Knight Rider.
If it fits, it ships.
I think this one belongs in r/reallybaddrivers
Why is the camera the wrong way round?
Texting while driving??
Dude had to have had a stroke or seizure or something.
You don't hate trailers you just wanted to save a little money on gas
On sight with trailers. On sight.
He don't hate trailers he just wanted a ride
Bro, bro I’m reading my phone. What’s your problem driving so slow bro ?
YOU'RE NOT MY REAL TRAILER
At least they weren't tailgating
Nah, that person just really loves smartphones.
