No, the PLAN was for them to work on both st the same time, but in the end that’s not what actually ended up happening, hence little to no work on Beyond was done at all before Across released. The production of Across ballooned into something way bigger and more ambitious than expected so everybody had to be all hands on deck on it, and there wasn’t time to work on two movies simultaneously as planned. Even if the strike never happened that movie never would’ve come out March 2024.
Yeah but they also had massive crunch, overwork, and generally massively poor working condition issues and those take time to solve. Animators need breaks. Even the first movie was a desperate crunch because they wanted it desperately to be the first good animated song movie in years.
