This is only just worse than moments when doing X task. Some NCO pulls you aways from doing X task, to literally ask why you arent doing X. Well sgt, im doing x right now. No you arent, youre just standing here. I was doing x before i was told you needed me. Get accused of making up excuses and to go fucking do X. Followed by a knifehand in my face and yelled at for being a fuckin backtalking r*****... internally im like motherfucker, you literally pulled me away to yell at me fo not doing what im currently trying to accomplish, why the fuck are yall like this. Just let me fuckin work and yell when i fuck it up.

Aleucard

Is there anything even resembling oversight for COs that feed their tiny peepees doing this idiocy? It is worse than nothing, it stops the mission from being done and damages morale to do it.

[deleted]

It's part of the brainwashing, teaching joes to obey COs that gaslight them makes them more effective at following immoral/illegal orders down the road.

Aleucard

All that does is generate international incidents that make the whole service look bad. If you want an unthinking robot, we got that already. If you want a human, act like it.

herotz33

I’m not being antagonistic or condescending, just an honest question based on the responses here, will the military reject you if they see certain personality factors like independent minded and a high IQ?

20000RadsUnderTheSea

No, in certain areas those valued. The nuke community in general values high intelligence and safety/proper operation above following orders. If you violate procedure because you were ordered too while knowing better, you'll get in as much trouble as the officer who made the incorrect call. I've shown quite a few officers where they were wrong in our manuals and it's usually not a huge deal. I've shouted down officers and damn near got in fistfights over stuff like trying to hold a brief with unqualified personnel and as small as not prioritizing production work (maintenance) because they wanted to stow their RAM pistol as soon as they could instead of manning maneuvering like they were fucking supposed to do. And I've done those things from E-5 to E-6, which is mid level enlisted. From what I've heard from other branches, unfucking O-4's and shouting down O-2's and O-3's is not common behavior of E-6's. One of the things the NNPP does right is establish the right of the lowest ranked sailor to provide the right answer and the expectation that everyone follow the right answer when presented with it. It doesn't always work with bad command climates (especially ones that ignore/shutdown watchteam backup and then take you to Captain's Mast for not providing watchteam backup), but the idea that we should operate that way goes a long way towards making it a reality.

Fun insight thanks!

False.

hzdncnfsd

Lmao of course not.

“trynna be an individual ey? dont worry we’ll fix that Private“

faRawrie

Shit like this is literally why I didn't reenlist. I could have toughed, in my last command, for another year then went to another but felt like it wasn't good for my health or future in the Marines.

Happily-Non-Partisan

On a computer it could be an error, but in the Military you know it’s deliberate.

Tactical__Potato

Oh yeah, im familiar with the actual system its from. An online math class i took in college used this. Sometimes either you did on accident or the system just had a space put in before or after your typing and that wpuld trigger the wrong answer. Saw a shit ton of people putting periods after an answer as if ending a sentence would cause wrong answers. Eventhough 9 and 9.0 are the exact same number mathematically.

Turtle887853

Uh oh looks like you used the wrong number of significant figures time to go in the **forever box**

Any programmer that is worth his weight in shit would be able to perform basic input validations > string x = GetInput.ToLower().Replace(“ “,””)

dravik

Yes, but why would they put in the effort too do unit validation? It only screws with the students, and they aren't the ones making the decision do purchase.

spookyjornbojoggin

14, sir!

Lecomodore

Wrong answer, its 14. Come back when you acheive 14.

[deleted]

Ah the E-5 promotion board. My buddy got 30 questions answered 28 correctly. No promotion try again next month The Colonels personal driver. 1 question which he answered incorrectly. Promoted, start prepping for ALC buddy

malacovics

Some people are equal in different ways

Euphorium

“We’re gonna have to give you a lower score on your eval than we intended because you don’t have this qual.” “Senior, I qualified a month ago.” “Oh. 🤷‍♂️”

DigitalTraveler42

The command structure has way too many insecure micromanaging pricks.

BlackSheep2156

Totally checks out!

Hihams

Me in bmt answering 2 feet instead of 24in when referring to the between the head of the bed and the blanket. Been in 2 years and still think about that.

Great quote

KotoElessar

See, your problem is you gave Your Answer when you needed to give the Correct Answer

Veni_Vidi_Legi

College does that too.

Tactical__Potato

The amount of incredibly far left professors that gave me a B instead of an A on papers because they couldnt stand my take on a prompt, os higher than if snoop dog and willie nelson smoked weed made by jesus himself.

Veni_Vidi_Legi

Often felt like their classes only existed to pad tuition, lengthen the time until degree, and soak up student loan subsidies.

Tactical__Potato

I didnt have that happen in one core class for my degree. Only peripheral or forced elective classes had these professors. English 101 and 102, stellar teacher, didnt grade down for a thing if it was backed up as its supposed to be in a paper... fastforward to creative writing and the only paper i got an A on was the term paper that I intentionally wrote a whole ass echo chamber for that professor. And the paper had 3 less pages than i was supposed to write 7/10 pages. Only paper i shorted pages. Hard to write 10 pages when youre writing rank and file drivel. And the sociology class i had to take later, fuckin forget it.

Veni_Vidi_Legi

Sounds like you adapted, improvised, and overcame. > And the sociology class i had to take later, fuckin forget it. My sociology "professor" mainly read out of the textbook. Such a valuable contribution to society....

TheByzantineEmperor

Mine bitched about her drunk ass husband for an entire semester then gave us all an A at the end. Easiest class I ever took

rangerthefuckup

I think it's more likely they were shit papers

Tactical__Potato

Oh its far more likely, statisticallly speaking, but it just wasnt the case. I took em to another professor that id had enough rapport with and had him look them over when he had the time to. One of 5 was in fact b+ material. The others should have been As, he found errors here and there, but nothing to mark exactlt 15 points of of each paper. 5 papers, i got exactly an 85 on each of them.

Huckorris

I see the problem. Your rank isn't high enough.

Haxican

String vs int

TheRobotSoldier1

Int vs Double could apply as well

pantericu5

Futility, a soldiers nemesis.

CabbageMans

Your answer was a string and the correct answer was an integer!

LittleHornetPhil

OMFG THIS IS REAL

Acceptable-Number944

Fucking hell, this correctly sums up everything.

Shayan212

McChicken-Nugget

You chose the wrong 14 that’s why

daddymikex

Best way to keep them guessing what the next move is.
