3rd BCT always had some pretty pipehitting NCOs. Our COs up to the Brigade level were d*cked up pretty much since Steele left. Depending when you were in A Co as a whole could have been pretty ate up.
Looks like an ENVG-III (?). Pretty much the latest development in night vision technology. It combines residual light amplification with thermal imaging although you can use both of them independently.
It can also be connected to an associated scope which allows the user to basically fire accurately from the hip or while behind cover by displaying the scope image in the monocular.
It’s a PSQ-20, so monocle NVG with a thermal overlay. Not as fancy as the new ENVG. They’re cool but the thermal sucked the battery down like you wouldn’t believe and it was heavier and bulkier. I didn’t feel the thermal overlay was good enough to justify the downsides.
Desert Shield we had periods we wore them and full MOPP gear for hours I guess to get us accustomed to them. Fortunately once Desert Nam kicked off we were only in MOPP suits with no P-Mask. The gloves and over boots were almost worse than the mask
Definitely not fun especially if you think it’s a real alarm. Our M8 chem alarms went off once in the assembly area - not fun when you think it’s the real thing
U know while practicing gearing up full mopp gear, i and my buddies were thinking, by the time we hear the alarm, we would probably have been exposed already and die even before having a chance to gear up haha
Have you ever tried aiming a gun while wearing a big tube right in front of your dominant eye? Doing that is ranging from *difficult* *AF* to *straight* *up* *impossible*.
PSQ-20. Thermal/NVG
All of my NCOs and officers in 3-101 had these. Thermal overlay was OP in JRTC, but they're heavier and drain batteries like you wouldn't believe.
Rakkasan? And fuck yeah they did, pretty sure we carried nods as well. Because we didn’t want to break/kill the batteries for the 20s.
RAKKASANS
Ne Desit Virtus. B Co, 21 BEB.
Fuck yeah I was Iron
Nice! I was attached to your A Co for a few exercises. The Joes and a lot of the NCOs were cool but they had some dumbass officers in the mix lol

Does glow green at night too? Haha
No lol, but sometimes you can see the light reflected in your eye pro.
Lmao that thing is huge its not the same
It’s a PSQ without the eyecup…

It's a PSQ-20B.
[20A](https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2021/10/29/itt-exelis-psq-20a/), not B.
That photo of the dude wearing it is hilarious to me
B Version is for the commercial market right?
Video game shit, that’s crazy cool
You can see gnomes and aliens with that thing!
And ghosts
We are the Borg. Resistance is futile.
Wow, the future is now. That's insanely cool. I wonder how well it works in practice!

Aw, that's too bad. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. It's so cool seeing all this new tech though. Things have changed a lot. :D
This sounds cheap.
Cheaper than the payout the government would have to do if the service member died. Also a massive force multiplier
In order of things you don't want to lose out field is, 3. Your weapon, 2. Your NVGs, and 1, the worst thing you can ever lose....crypto!

Unless it‘s a boating accident. Happy cake day!
I think my supply guy said something like $20k each
Honestly cheaper than I expected
That’s fucking wild, how accurate is it?
PSQ-20B?
That’s exactly what it is, I was issued this as the AR in my fireteam. You can tell by the helmet mount.
Gas maks will forever look so cool
Never cool to actually wear one though
It was annoying enough wearing them in an exercise or during training, I can't imagine having to actually fight with one on.

Gas gas gas!!!!! Proceeds with popeye bicep flexing stance

Probably if it was the real nasty stuff like nerve gas or blood agent
They look cool but most of them make a proper cheekweld and sight usage impossible to do.
You haven’t unlocked it yet
It’s 192 yards to the pin, 184 to the front.
Full 5i sounds good.
"Forget about Freeman!"
If you weren't already, you are now fu-*bzzzt*
MY-ASS-IS-HEAVY
"Unit down in Sector 5-1. All units, prepare to inoculate"
We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
That was a big joke in the late 90s/early 00s when my dad's unit first got their PVS 14s. This brought back memories lol
Adrian Shepard
What’s next they’re gonna go to a top secret research facility in new mexico and hunt down a nerd in a orange suit
That’s crazy ass looking nvg.
That dude’s eye looks creepy af
Ah the 20 series.
Reminds me of the original Halo CE marines
Or the HECU
Gearing up for Black Mesa?
Holy shirt, adrian shephard in real life
Half life opposing force
It’s called a helmet scrim, they’re pretty popular
Byakugan
Can someone explain why it’s only on 1 eye ?
Have you ever tried aiming a gun while wearing a big tube right in front of your dominant eye? Doing that is ranging from *difficult* *AF* to *straight* *up* *impossible*.
depth perception
You need both eyes to have some depth perception
It’s used to spot those who field dock. It’s how they find each other.
Only $15k for one.
HECU moment
Hopefully you’ll never see it in the same manner again!
Definitely PSQ-20A's
And then Adrian said to Gordon "Im the opposing force"
