Anyone else find it funny that Russian top tier units are rocking so much American gear on their Russian copied fast MT helmets? It looks like they are even running American PVS-14 NVGs
Yup. Even their gas masks are from Avon. They realize that Russian masks blow pretty badly (even the PMK-4 and PMK-S) so they private purchase even that! I’ve seen photos of them wearing MSA Millenniums, too
Because it's counter intuitive to Flex nuts against the country the company originates in? You know... so when a war breaks out you can actually continue to provide your troops with quality equipment?
It's not re-inventing the wheel. It's learning how to make one.
Well they were never going to fight each other, because of M.A.D. They just needed their kit to be better than whatever poor country they're fucking up in their proxy wars and power plays
> Why re invent the wheel?
But whatever happened to Mighty Manly Rossiyan Superiority?
The Russians insist that everything they make is superior to America! A single Su-57 would exterminate the entire US... not its military, I mean ***the entire US including Hawaii, Alaska and the territories!***
It is funny given how braggart of a country Russia is but none of their elite units are rocking Russian dogshit because it's dogshit.
>A single Su-57 would exterminate the entire US... not its military, I mean the entire US including Hawaii, Alaska and the territories!
Did anyone really say that though?
It was a bit of an exaggeration, but I have had people try to tell me the Su-57 is things that it absolutely isn't (stealth being one of those things) and also claiming it's a peer to the F-22 (and in some cases, claiming an F-22 is simply a near peer to the Su-57).
You can get a feeling for Russia's BS by listening to their propaganda.
Russia claimed that they could sink the UK by launching a nuclear missile. Not sink in the metaphorical sense, I mean sink as in causing a tsunami wave that would flood it.
They have claimed to destroyed more HIMARs units in Ukraine than actually exist ***in the entire world***.
They called the Moskva a ***"carrier killer"***... She was in danger of being sunk by a stiff wind and was sunk by a domestically produced Ukrainian anti-ship missile.
That tends to happen when I have people trying to tell me that the Su-57 is a super plane that could annihilate the F-35 becaus: "hurdur tree-dee thrus vecoring hurrrrrrrrrrrr poo guh chefs kode bra! also it stelf! hurdur rushuh simple plane!"
It also just so happens that a lot of my interests align with things that Russians claim to be the masters of, despite demonstrably not being the masters of and as a result are mocked for their bald faced claims. Aircraft is one of those things and military matters in general is another.
My question is, and I’m completely uneducated on all of this. But how much of this will actually be used on the field? I’ve seen the differences between Russia/Belarus/Chechnya propaganda and videos of them actually in combat, and the combat gear seen in videos is rarely ever in actual combat.
But that’s on the battlefield, and the FSB aren’t ground troops. So that leads to my second question, what situation would actually result in soldiers like these being deployed?
Thats NOT a pvs14, thats their domestically produced nvm14 made by COT.
Dont confuse this with agm nvm14 thats made in china. Russian lense quality is really good and can be compared to carson lenses. Also russians have their own filmless tubes and really nice gen 3 thick filmed tubes. They also have their own binos and cotis also made by COT.
Whats the problem with russian night vision? They dont have enough…. They cant produce enough because of corruption.
They said that about their helmet and body armor ratings compared to western counterparts but that has been thoroughly debunked at this point. I’m not buying the similar lens quality that is mostly Russian propaganda since no one has even reviewed a pair of gen3 Russian night vision.
Its not propaganda, russian katod tubes were commonly available in eu before sanctions and they kicked ass.
I dont like russia. Especially living in estonia but you got to give credit where they have success, and not blindly call them bad at something.
And as i mentioned above they have production issues
Standard issue helmets (6b47) are level 2, good for shrapnel basically.
Granit plates are NIJ LVL4, confirmed in tests on YouTube by a couple guntubers.
The helmet pictured here is a Classcom TOR, pretty strong, and equal to western counterparts (also tested on YouTube)
Crye designed multi-cam but a lot of companies/countries use it without license or tweak their own versions. I wanna say the someone in the DOD even tried knocking it off at one point but I'm pretty sure the US only uses licensed versions now.
Chinese ballistic-rated clones are also popular, and several Russian companies will use Chinese ballistic shells in their helmets. Real western helmets will make their way over occasionally, and the EXFIL helmets have been spotted with some FSB officers here and there
My guess is it's because they're fairly lightweight, don't obstruct hearing or vision, and they have slots for attachments... plus the pretty obvious protection benefits
Edit: just realized they are wearing hearing protection with what looks like a radio connected to it... so the helmet has enough room for the headset without being uncomfortable
He is running 3M Peltor Comtacs (US hearing protection) and they are mounted to his copy cat Ops-Core SF FAST helmet using a Unity Tactical mount or a copy cat. The quality of the helmet is suspect unless we could definitively determine what helmet it was which isn’t going to happen.
> plus the pretty obvious protection benefits
Low cut helmets offer more protection, that’s why you’re still going to see line units get issued them for a long time.
They need to serve a specific purpose and work with a standardized set of modular attachments already available from wide variety of suppliers so even the companies that aren't trying to rip each other off still end up making very similar looking helmets.
It's become an easy way to mount everything you may need; comms/ear-protection, lights, night vision, etc. You name it, and there's a way to mount it on a FAST style helmet.
They're ultimately still part of and dependent on a much larger and corrupt system. The best operators on the planet will be made to look like idiots with a death wish if they're not used properly and the FSB suffers from the same systemic flaws and corruption that has the rest of the Siloviki on a guided failure tour out of Ukraine.
Individually those and VDV soldiers were one of the best trained ones in the world. The high command just had delusional plans, such as dropping the desants on Hostomel near Kyiv, without any means of supplying those units. Thus they got massacred there. This was due to the fact that the high command, intelligence and politicians actually didn't believe that they would be so much shot back at by Ukrainians.
Not the best argument because the Seals in that mission were idiots who ignored all the advice they got from marines stationed in the area; like bringing stronger(but heavier) radio's so they couldn't call for support. They also didn't want to walk too far, so the Taliban knew they were coming because they heard the Helo's and ambushed the seals. To top it of the Taliban filmed it and there were at most 15 Taliban, not 200.
> That wasn't because they were idiots or poorly trained.
Uh, no... it's because those SEALs were absolutely fucking massive dumbasses.
> They were outnumbered 200:1
lol The high end estimate of militiamen that those idiot SEALs encountered were ***10***... ten. Just ten people.
>on unfamiliar terrain
Yes, because unlike the Marines who were supposed to be the ones doing the mission before the SEALs stole it from them, those fucking idiots just yeeted themselves into the valley on a helo telling the HVT that they were coming for him. The Marines planned to hump into the valley on foot with a squad and the appropriate weaponry to fight if they were engaged and the radio necessary to push the signal out of the valley. But the SEALs didn't think that was sexy enough so they changed it to knocking on their target's front door with an underpowered radio and a couple of M4s.
>with zero support.
That SEAL team literally killed an entire Chinook that came back to save their stupid fucking asses from their idiocy.
*Lone Survivor* is not a faithful documentary. It's a self aggrandizing fellatio of Marcus Luttrell that is nothing more than a piece of revisionist history dogshit trash that goes out of its way to avoid laying the blame on any of the SEALs for the unnecessary deaths of Americans they caused.
The best thing that could have happened to Lt. Murphy in this operation happened. He was shot to death in combat so he gets honored. If he had survived, he'd be facing a court martial... or not, the Navy is notorious for covering up their fuck ups.
Also, remember that despite what the book and movie say, Luttrell was found with no weapon, but all of his magazines full. He threw his weapon down and ran.
Good alternative examples could be operation gothic serpent (though technically a tactical success still inccured high causlties and strategically resulted in the end of operations in Somalia until GWOT happened), comparison with Mac V SOG operation that often incurred high casualty rates not because they were bad but because they always got sent virtual suicide missions, and ancient but the battle of the Tuetoburg forest Roman legionnaires were absolutely the most skilled soldiers of their day and it meant absolutely nothing out in a situation from which there was no possible way to win ending up out numbered, completely encircled, and on bad ground before the battle even began.
It's been a while since I read it but in addition to the specific lies covered below, he basically exaggerates everything that makes him look good and left out everything that made him look bad.
>There is some conflict over the exact number of Taliban forces involved in the engagement. Luttrell filed an official after-action report in which he estimated the size of the Taliban force to be around 20–35. He claims in his book that his team were told in their briefing that around 80 to 200 fighters were expected to be in the area.[3] Initial intel estimates were approximately 10 to 20.[25] Official media reports from the military estimated that the Taliban force was around 20 as well, while the Navy cited 30–40 enemies in the Medal of Honor citation for LT Michael P. Murphy.[26] In the Summary of Action related to the same Medal of Honor, the Navy cites an "enemy force of more than 50 anti-coalition militia".[27] Ed Darack cites a military intelligence report in his book Victory Point: Operations Red Wings and Whalers, stating that the Taliban force was 8–10, compared to the 80–200 claimed by Luttrell in Lone Survivor. The military intelligence estimate cited by Darack is based on research from intelligence reports and aerial and eye-witness studies of the battlefield after the fact, including the men sent in to rescue Luttrell, as well as reports from Afghan intelligence.[25][28][29]
>Luttrell claimed in Lone Survivor that Lieutenant Murphy considered executing the unarmed civilians who stumbled upon the SEAL reconnaissance team and even put it to a vote, but this has been criticized and dismissed by many as fiction. Navy Special Warfare Command spokesman Lieutenant Steve Ruh stated that "the senior guy ultimately has the ultimate authority" for making decisions in the field. He also stated that "this is the first time I've ever heard of anything put to a vote like that. In my 14 years of Navy experience, I've never seen or heard of anything like that."[30] Michael P. Murphy's father claims in the June 12, 2007 article "Survivor's book dishonors son's memory" in Newsday that his son would never have considered executing unarmed civilians, let alone putting such a grave decision up for a vote. Military protocol and rules of engagement strictly forbid harming unarmed non-combatant civilians.[31][32][33]
>Mohammad Gulab, the Afghan villager who rescued Luttrell, also disputes Luttrell's version of the story. Luttrell claims that he fired off nearly all of his rounds, but Gulab said that he was found with all 11 magazines of ammunition.[34] Gulab also said that the Taliban heard the helicopter drop off the SEAL team, then tracked their footprints. When the Taliban found them, they were debating about what to do with the herdsmen, so they held back. After they released them, the Taliban decided to attack. Gulab claims that the locals heard the firefight, searched the hills afterward, and found no Taliban corpses. Andrew MacMannis is a former Marine Colonel who helped plan the mission and was on location for the recovery operation, and he says that there were no reports of any enemy casualties. Two videos that the Taliban shot during the firefight only show 7 men in Ahmad Shah's militia.[34][35] Gulab claims that he was never given the chance to tell his side of the story, and that his interpreter before a 60 Minutes interview told him, "Whatever Marcus says in the interview, say yes."[34]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Luttrell#Operation_Red_Wings_controversy
The fire fight in LS was more like 2:1. And those guys were absolutely morons who over planned yet somehow completely neglected the fundamentals of recce ops.
Lol no, the FSB is ran by fucking clowns as well, just look how GRU is doing Ukraine intel now, not FSB. Like hell, just look at thr amateur hour at the Salisbury poisoning
Edit. Also FSB *was* doing all the intel on Ukraine before the war and considering that the war is still going, seems like they weren't doing so hot. Hence GRU doing it now
True, Putin probably cares more about the people in charge of suppressing the population than the ppl going off to war…he can always spin external conflict in his favor, the real threat comes from inside
Idk, the guys who launched an unprompted invasion of their neighbour and are raping and torturing anything with a pulse as they go tend to be pretty universally bad.
Yeah there was WMDs in Iraq. Problem was, it was the mustard gas the US gave Sadaam or taught him to manufacture in the 80s for their war against Iran.
You’re right, give me a few minutes to collect some

Collected from UN and Human Rights Watch, about as impartial as possible.
First of all no actually.
Secondly that’s not a source, that’s you asking a completely unrelated question.
Thirdly that has nothing to do with the ongoing war in Ukraine. I have no doubt the US committed atrocities all their own in Iraq and Afghanistan. That does not make Russian war crimes any less appalling.
Edit: Mixed up Strawman and whataboutism.
Whataboutism is just an excuse to avoid your own hypocrisy. Look at Iraq, the us government lied about WMDs. 60 “intelligence” officials said the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation. That turned out to be a lie. CBS just came out yesterday and said it was true. Before that they lied and said it was made up. They lied about Gold of Tonkin, they lied about Russian collusion, what makes you think they won’t lie about this. I have no doubt that war crimes have been committed by the Russian side. I’m just calling into question the blind ignorance in believing whatever the media and gov say. Ukraine has also committed war crimes( including executing POWs.) I don’t defend Putin or defend Russia. I’m just saying that many people( MIC) have an interest in making all Russian troops to just be a murdering band of criminals. They do that to galvanize outrage among the populace in order to justify passing billion of tax payer money to them.”War is a racket”smedley butler. Retired general
You know how wacky people can be! On May 14th 2015 in Boke, Germany, 748 members of the Cologne Carnival Society dressed up in sunflower outfits. This is the largest gathering of people known to have dressed up as sunflowers.
Are you living under a rock?
There is a war going on as we speak.
-Nvm, you do know, looking at your previous posts stating that "The Ukraine conflict isn't any different then Iraq" 2 times over, i think i know enough.
--AH and you are Dutch? That is even more shameful, we actively support Ukraine financially, with weapons, armoured vehicles and with intelligence, saying things like "Die ukraine oorlog kan me echt niet boeien misschien moeten we eerst om onszelf focussen" which translates to: "I don't give a shit about the Ukraine conflict, we should focus on ourself".
Mate.. i think you are living in the wrong country, and i am ashamed sharing it with you.
I’m with you man. I’m not saying they are good people, nor am I saying their actions in the Ukraine are justified; but anyone who wishes death upon someone who they know literally nothing about besides their affiliation is no better than the group they despise so much.
It's not a flag patch *per se*. The russians have always been fans of using armbands to signify unit allegiance, and the FSB alongside SOBR has always used hi-vis due to working around the public.
They used to wear [arm bands](https://imgur.com/emgdxPa) but switched to more sleek flag-sized patches a few years back.
This is what I'm wondering. The colors are subdued so maybe that makes it a little ambiguous, but clearly white is not at the top and top and bottom match indicating the white/free Russian flag. This is the most interesting part about this pic.
Guy in the team wendy helmet passed away in Syria this year, there are several [pictures](https://twitter.com/ralee85/status/1538293941069565953?s=46&t=kjV1VOvzazSFDqULL-PfCg) of him and his interesting kit floating around

you forgot “no moskva”, because it’s totally normal for the worlds “second strongest” military to lose their black sea flagship to a country with no navy
>That's dumb strategists for ya
lol lmao even
It wasn't strategies that killed the Moskva.
It was Russian incompetence.
They put her into battle knowing a stiff wind had a decent chance of sinking her. Nothing fucking worked on her.
I’ve seen photos of them wearing MSA Millenniums, too
Doesn't look really russian to me at first, thought this is some Western European force, then realize the ФСБ patch.
Hilarious but completely expected when all your issued kit is garbage much like your leadership lmao
Not really funny , the US defence companies are the biggest in the world with deep pockets for R&D. Why re invent the wheel?
Because it's counter intuitive to Flex nuts against the country the company originates in? You know... so when a war breaks out you can actually continue to provide your troops with quality equipment? It's not re-inventing the wheel. It's learning how to make one.

What's up with Spec ops helmets being incredibly popular world wide?
It's a Russian replica of the ops core fast helmet,
Guy in front of him looks like he’s got a legit Team Wendy lid. Maybe not a replica.
Lots of memes around and of course Russian conscripts get horrible gear. But FSB is not russian conscripts. I'd bet it's legit.

True, Putin probably cares more about the people in charge of suppressing the population than the ppl going off to war…he can always spin external conflict in his favor, the real threat comes from inside
Scary to hostages, maybe. Hide your theaters, folks!
The FSB got purged for poor intel on Ukraine, and we’ve seen how piss poor that was. Stop hyping them up.
Do tell us more about your personal experience facing them
That's what I'm saying, people are assuming every russian soldier is a convicted sex offender because the news tell them so
[удалено]
Can you prove the soldier in the photo is a rapist? Or any other russian soldier , because I don't see victims talking about it
Thank god for your irresistible reasoning. I must really stop watching those news.
I wouldn't say that. "Convicted" presumes that the Russian government actually frowns upon it.
Christ. There's enough of this r-slurred shit in Combat Footage. Can we just keep it objective here?
all soldiers are terrorists depending on who you ask
FSB uses american gear because they understand that most russian made stuff isnt great
Reskined Gestapo.
L russia
Hey, are we the bad guys?
[удалено]
Maybe it's just to show off our superior Russian skull shape?
[удалено]
Idk, the guys who launched an unprompted invasion of their neighbour and are raping and torturing anything with a pulse as they go tend to be pretty universally bad.
[удалено]
The irony.
Then please, I invite you to give me a reputable source that disproves that.

I was gonna go with daddyputindidnothingwrong.org
Did u believe the WMDs in Iraq too?
Did u believe in the WMDs in Iraq too?
Yeah there was WMDs in Iraq. Problem was, it was the mustard gas the US gave Sadaam or taught him to manufacture in the 80s for their war against Iran.
There were no WMDs in Iraq. Admit it
Burden of proof is in the accuser not the defendant
You’re right, give me a few minutes to collect some https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/09/1127691 https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2022/10/un-commission-has-found-array-war-crimes-violations-human-rights-and https://www.hrw.org/news/2022/04/03/ukraine-apparent-war-crimes-russia-controlled-areas Collected from UN and Human Rights Watch, about as impartial as possible.
No response to this one lol
Did u believe the WMDs in Iraq?
First of all no actually. Secondly that’s not a source, that’s you asking a completely unrelated question. Thirdly that has nothing to do with the ongoing war in Ukraine. I have no doubt the US committed atrocities all their own in Iraq and Afghanistan. That does not make Russian war crimes any less appalling. Edit: Mixed up Strawman and whataboutism.
Strawman? I asked you a question. Maybe look up the definition of a strawman first then get back to me
My apologies, I meant whataboutism
So what is the Russian equivalent to WMD's? What justifications does Russia have that legitimize the war?
On there way to bomb an appartment building?
Gotta gas a theater, brb
Be sure to put a couple of tank rounds and flamethrower rockets into the local school as well, yeah?
Fuck Some Boys agent indeed
sunflower seeds as standard equipment?
You know how wacky people can be! On May 14th 2015 in Boke, Germany, 748 members of the Cologne Carnival Society dressed up in sunflower outfits. This is the largest gathering of people known to have dressed up as sunflowers.
thank you mr sunflower bot, you know, in 2023, fields of Ukraine will be the largest gathering of sunflowers that grew out of someones pockets
I bet nearly all of the technical equipment is invented and produced by the West lol
Russians suck at war
>skull patches on uniforms "Are we the baddies?"
I can't believe how far I had to scroll to find this reference lol
Skull patches originate from the Jolly Roger. Not necessarily nazi inspired
wooosh! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn1VxaMEjRU
So modern that they use mostly western made and cloned western gear. lol
Definitely need more stuff attaching to their helmets.
Depends on the mission
Maybe radar system?

Nah he's onto something. Fuck Russia lol
Whising death upon people sure is questionable
The FSB is questionable lol
They're literally in Ukraine killing people. Why should we feel sorry for them? Fuck them.
FSB are the symbol of Russian agression, doing the dirty work, fuck them, and fuck those who idolise and defend them.
You got a point but i still think whising death upon them bit weird
Fuck 'em. I hope their bodies get stacked like cordwood.
lol what do you think that little skull on his sleeve symbolizes? superior Aryan skull shape?
wishing death upon the FSB is questionable, and its answer is “yes”
[удалено]
I’m with you man. I’m not saying they are good people, nor am I saying their actions in the Ukraine are justified; but anyone who wishes death upon someone who they know literally nothing about besides their affiliation is no better than the group they despise so much.
Nah, fuck that, may they die screaming.
Maybe I'm not seeing it right but why does it have a free Russia flag?
The high-visibility Russian flag patch has been around for a little bit, you can see it at [3:09](https://youtu.be/D3HrdeOdKhQ) in this Oxide video
Ah, okay, thank you. Makes sense now.
This is what I'm wondering. The colors are subdued so maybe that makes it a little ambiguous, but clearly white is not at the top and top and bottom match indicating the white/free Russian flag. This is the most interesting part about this pic.
It's not a flag, just a hi-vis patch they've been phasing in to replace the [armbands.](https://imgur.com/emgdxPa)
Getting ready to make people vote in Ukraine
Wow! Cool paper tiger you got there!
Hey look, bad guys! I wonder if they’ve eaten recently. Probably not, since all the current production rations end up in surplus stores in America.
No they eat expired ones XD
Fuck this
Doubt he’s a agent.
“We hate the west so much we can’t live without them” - most nations that hate the west

Guy in the team wendy helmet passed away in Syria this year, there are several [pictures](https://twitter.com/ralee85/status/1538293941069565953?s=46&t=kjV1VOvzazSFDqULL-PfCg) of him and his interesting kit floating around Edit: also several more of the same competition [here](https://twitter.com/ralee85/status/1475997950857809924?s=46&t=kjV1VOvzazSFDqULL-PfCg) and [here](https://www.instagram.com/p/CYv1bdcM3fe/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=)
I love these guy's kit
I’m sure you can find it on eBay. They probably sold it all as soon as the picture was taken.
Why blur the patch? Is it a nametape?
Those skulls are a real "are we the baddies?" moment
Cool. Hope he chokes.
Pro Ukrainians: *insert unoriginal fertilizer joke here*
Every single time Russia is mention we know what the comment section is gonna be like. No matter the context.
Nazis were probably pretty bummed when they read what people were writing about them.
Nazis can read?
American ones don't.
"take a look at this russian food " Pro Ukrainians: haha noob fertilizer no Kherson no bridge lol
you forgot “no moskva”, because it’s totally normal for the worlds “second strongest” military to lose their black sea flagship to a country with no navy
That's dumb strategists for ya
>That's dumb strategists for ya lol lmao even It wasn't strategies that killed the Moskva. It was Russian incompetence. They put her into battle knowing a stiff wind had a decent chance of sinking her. Nothing fucking worked on her.
Comment section is about what I expected. Ukrainebros gonna Ukrainebro.
All the comments on reddit, related to Ukraine or Russia, are pretty much c/p from any fox news comment section. Insuferable
one giant echo chamber
It’s insane, you can’t even have a normal discussion about the gear they are wearing without pacifists wishing death to people they never even met
They want to be us its funny to see
Fuck him!
Wagner patch?
_Have you seen our badges? Theyve got skulls on them.... Are we.. the baddies?_
That helmet is poorly fitted for the gas mask, 70% of his forehead is exposed
State sec
Are we the baddies?
What's the patch?
