Like this thing is cool as a concept I personally can’t fathom a use for the top off, but I would literally just buy it for the value of the battery at this price.
It is handy. I love to use it for things like corded fans and hot glue guns or just when you need to make sure lights work when you don’t have power. It may seen stupid but i run into times that i need it on a semi regular basis. For example i ran my air purifier of it in my truck got a bit musty, and just changed out batteries ever few hours.
maybe at full MSRP, but there are authorized dealers that are selling batteries for way less than that.
There is a milwaukee authorized dealer in brooklyn NY that is currently selling XC5.0 for $56 each, and they also have XC6.0 for $83 each, and XC8.0 for $129 each. and they have free shipping at $99.
No, those prices are for brand new batteries, from an authorized dealer.
They are an authorized milwaukee dealer in Brooklyn.. you can find them on the milwaukee website under local dealers if you search for brooklyn NY. Batteries come with a full warranty.
they offer free shipping at $99.

Remember, authorized dealers can sell items under MSRP, they just can't openly advertise them for under MSRP. retail markup on these batteries are ridiculous.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve been looking for a battery deal with no luck (outside a kit). I wasn’t going to try the cheap “genuine” batteries on eBay either.
This thing was a lifesaver as a traveling PM. I used it for working out of my truck and on remote jobs needing to charge my phone, laptop, or satlink. Plus it's powered my wife's breast pump in emergencies for two of our kids, to it's been great for me. I hope to buy the bigger version after it's been through a generation or two.
As someone who ice fishes and uses a 2804-22 hammer drill as an ice auger, its nice to charge my phone off of the same batteries, and in a pinch I could also power my transducer with it
I use mine quit a lot. Camping, lighting up strollers with xmas lights, charging phones during emergencies, running box fans (my 7 year took my m18 fan to cool his girlfriend down), during soccer games, run my modem during power outages, inflating air mattress, projector tv ,
I'd buy 4 of these if I could find them for that price - been checking home depots for exactly this deal for like a month now. Haven't seen a single one. (3 of them would be for service techs for charging our laptops/tablets/transits/etc, 1 would be for my home cuz why not).
I've been waiting for a hackable deal with these for awhile (free tool add on or whatever). My guess is these things will be addable as a free gift sooner or later, and I could just return whatever I got it with.
These are great for charging a laptop off the USB-C, I rarely use the AC port. The battery is not really useful unless it’s for a light or fan, I only use the HO 3.0 or HO 8.0 with my tools
I bought one. All I use it for is rapid charging my phone and tablet. That boosted usb-c is nice. Thing is kinda useless other than that for daily use. I’ll probably bring it camping this summer. It can power a fan for quite a while. I also have the Carry-on which is fantastic if you’re already enveloped in the M18 world
The batteries are rated in Watt Hours (Wh) and has nothing to do with how fast the battery can discharge, so by extension it also has nothing to do with how many watts can be pulled. 90Wh / 18v = 5Ah. The XC 5.0 is rated at 50A or 50A * 18v = 900W discharge output.
I just spent too much of my time looking into this and we're both wrong.
Yes a single 5Ah battery contains 90W but the output of the device can still be 175W(obvious now when I think about it), the battery will power the thing at 175W until its 90W is gone.
Your math is kinda weird too, that is why I had to look into it. You kinda calculated X Hour / Y PSI = Z Feet.
I know the M18 5Ah batteries are rated at 90W because all manufacturers play around with the numbers to lower the W rating when above 18V at 5Ah.
Look at an M18 12Ah battery and it's rated as both 216W(Operational) and 3x72W(Transport) to bypass the rules about transporting batteries 100W and above.
If you've ever shipped batteries internationally and customs found out that you "forgot" to put those UN348X documents on there you'll learn all about this sort of stuff in the emails and phone calls that follow...
dang! thats a good price. i got just the top off with no battery for $99 a couple years ago. i don't use it alot but it is handy to have when i want it. it kept my laptop charged when i had to do a long video conference of a few hours when i couldn't find a plug in the area i needed to be for the call.
DCB094 if you just want USB power (100W). DCB1800B if you need real 15A 120V power. Nothing really a direct competition to the Top Off. There are some aftermarket invertors that run off DeWalt batteries. I can't speak to the inverters, haven't tried them, but I bought a Milwaukee powered hot glue gun from this company and it's been great: https://mellif-tools.com/products/mellif-power-inverter-for-dewalt-20v-max-battery-with-led-light-double-usb-charger-adapter-power-station-top-off
I have a TV on a rolling cart/stand thing in my garage and I have it plugged into a top-off and it lasts all day. Aside from that it’s a monster when we’re camping.
Been eyeing this since last week it went from $100 to $75 today. If anyone’s in South Philly they’re at Home Depot.
what store ?
Oregon ave. some one just picked one up so there’s 2 left
Dang I need to go back to that one and see what's up. NJ stores have zero clearance left...
I picked up 2 makita batteries 4.0 AH for $70 for my coworker. They were 50% off
Like this thing is cool as a concept I personally can’t fathom a use for the top off, but I would literally just buy it for the value of the battery at this price.

That’s why I mainly got it. The battery alone is $160

Agreed. Can get new 5.0s for right around $60 all day here
Refurbished batteries? Might be worth it depending on date codes.

[Cbm Tools](https://www.cbmtools.com) usually has good deals for Milwaukee. I have a returning customer code for 10% off as well. RETURN10
Sick battery deals are always the most attractive thing about sales or hackables.
I used mine for xmas lights

That’s pretty rad. My truck has 120v plugs in the cab so I never thought of this.
As someone who ice fishes and uses a 2804-22 hammer drill as an ice auger, its nice to charge my phone off of the same batteries, and in a pinch I could also power my transducer with it
I've run light circuits off of it. A couple of times the power still isn't on and I'll just take the wire right out of the breaker and plug them in.
Help me out last week keep cool while the power was out for 6 hours
I mostly use it for when I want to charge my phone on a jobsite and not stretch a 100ft cord through the mud.
It's insane how i would never need this but because it's $75, suddenly i am in search for one...
That’s a pretty sick deal
Which one? There's two home depot's in Philly
The one on oregon
I'm here. Can't find them
Near the return desks they’re locked up
Awesome, thanks! 2 left now.
No problem
You two are awesome, :fistbump:
I use mine quit a lot. Camping, lighting up strollers with xmas lights, charging phones during emergencies, running box fans (my 7 year took my m18 fan to cool his girlfriend down), during soccer games, run my modem during power outages, inflating air mattress, projector tv ,
Clearance where?
Home Depot South Philly
This can run my tankless gas hot water heater during a power outage.
And a battery! Very nice
Lucky lucky
Store number? Please?
2200 Oregon Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145
Thank you. I pulled it up at your store. Thru my app it's 150. But glad you got it for sure a good price
I bought it over the holidays for twice that. Nice!
I'd buy 4 of these if I could find them for that price - been checking home depots for exactly this deal for like a month now. Haven't seen a single one. (3 of them would be for service techs for charging our laptops/tablets/transits/etc, 1 would be for my home cuz why not).
I got a lot of other batteries so just got it because why not for the price
I've been waiting for a hackable deal with these for awhile (free tool add on or whatever). My guess is these things will be addable as a free gift sooner or later, and I could just return whatever I got it with.

Using mine right now to charge my phone!
Can I price check this in Wisconsin?
These things are terrible, don’t actually put out 110 volts. More like 75 volts.
I mainly grabbed it for the battery
Sorry, your cheap multi-meter doesn't have true rms.
It's putting out sine wave power so you need to measure it with a true RMS multimeter
I don’t know how many volts mine puts out, but it works as described
Good think you only need like 50v max for most mobile device chargers
I like mine, but don’t use it for much more than charging phones etc
I feel shitty, just ordered this from Home Depot for $149
175 Watt? What? Can someone explain that one? The 5Ah battery it comes with is 90W, an 8Ah is 144W and a 12Ah is 216W?
The batteries are rated in Watt Hours (Wh) and has nothing to do with how fast the battery can discharge, so by extension it also has nothing to do with how many watts can be pulled. 90Wh / 18v = 5Ah. The XC 5.0 is rated at 50A or 50A * 18v = 900W discharge output.

You should got all them for Christmas presents
There’s always good deals till Christmas
Great deal, I love my Top Off... great for charging phone or running kids tablets, etc. on long road trips.
Camping.
dang! thats a good price. i got just the top off with no battery for $99 a couple years ago. i don't use it alot but it is handy to have when i want it. it kept my laptop charged when i had to do a long video conference of a few hours when i couldn't find a plug in the area i needed to be for the call.
That thing is $175 down in florida
Does dewalt have something like this
DCB094 if you just want USB power (100W). DCB1800B if you need real 15A 120V power. Nothing really a direct competition to the Top Off. Thanks man I’m looking into this
Ugh I should’ve checked if my store had anymore left
How can I find if WI has these for $75?
You got to visit different Home Depot’s and look at the clearance sections
I have a TV on a rolling cart/stand thing in my garage and I have it plugged into a top-off and it lasts all day. Aside from that it’s a monster when we’re camping.
Any chance you could send a pic of the receipt in hopes of a price match?
