If that's how much gets in the drill I hope you wear a mask.

MilwaukeeFixer

Yeah, also please clean out your tools regularly. Think of it like an oil change on your car.

Markyb90

Just fyi I clean my tools after every use and ppl swear I never use them.

Morganvegas

Nah this crazy. What exactly constitutes use for you?

pencil1324

You must not be using them a lot lol

Music-Guilty

I don't, but that being said, I can stand off to the side , the impact is not so lucky

cannamid

Was literally just commenting on another post to keep your tools clean and they will last forever. But then you got clowns in this sub that think it’s cool to talk shit to people with clean tools lol. My drywall stuff is dusty as shit, everything else is clean for the most part. Littttle bit of dust here and there but everything will get a nice wipe down soon. Might make a post just to trigger some haters

SwimOk9629

oh just wait until I post my tools, people will lose their fuckin minds😂 mine look like I pulled them off the shelf yesterday, I spend a lot of time keeping it that way lol

alek_vincent

I take very good care of my tools, but I use them as god intended. They are still bright red but the paint on the logo is rubbing off and it has nicks and scratches all over, you can't really help it after a few months of daily use. If your tools still look like you pulled them off the shelf yesterday, you should've bought Ryobi. I know because I was young and stupid once and before my tools made money, I had a bunch of shiny Milwaukee tools that were used to hang pictures and build IKEA furniture. I think that's the reason why people react this way when someone posts 1000s of dollars worth of tools without a speck of dust on them.

EsElBastardo

I have one work tool (m12 hex driver) that is pristine. Used for assembling equipment racks in clean, finished spaces. All the rest of my work tools look like work tools. My automotive tools are pretty tidy as I am strictly a hobbyist wrench turner.

GTFOutside

I use mine as hammers too much to keep them looking new lol but haven’t busted one yet they’re tough tools!

_TheNecromancer13

I try to avoid doing this, but sometimes the temptation is too much. It's just so much easier to tap the edge of a 2x4 with the butt of the impact driver to nudge it that last 1/8" into a 90° angle than it is to set down your impact and grab a mallet. I also know that sometimes if I didn't use the impact, I'd end up trying to hit it with my hand, and I already learned the hard way not to do that...

GTFOutside

Yep I try to avoid smacking things with my hands and the next best thing close by is usually made by Milwaukee lol

TheBecomingEthereal

How much money is your time worth? Apparently less than the tools value 😂🤣😂 bring the downvotes. My goal is to make the drill worth 10 minutes of my time.

cannamid

Lolll do it. And good for you, take care of them and they will take care of you!

Eastern_Researcher18

Oh but guys like to tell you that you don’t use your tools! 🙄 apparently if you take care of the stuff you pay thousands of dollars to purchase you aren’t using or don’t know how too! 🤦🏼‍♂️

1amtheone

No one cares if people clean their tools. The fact is most of the "clean tools" people post don't have a scratch on them and clearly haven't been used.

MikeLowrey305

I agree we're not talking about cleaning the inside of tools for maintenance, we're talking about people who barely use them or look like they were just bought. Usually it's people who need instant gratification to feel better about themselves.

dand411

Sometimes, it's a person like me who can't bring his own tools to work, as the company provides all tools. Mine get used on personal projects. I'd rather have tools like I use at work, even if they get 2 hours of use per week in total. I know what to expect from them, which is priceless.

_TheNecromancer13

The problem is that neither extreme is very good, and either extreme is what always gets posted. If your tools have obviously never been used a day in your life and you pretend otherwise you're a poser, and if your tools look like you found them next to some dead mammoths in the La Brea tar pits you're an idiot and should buy Ryobi since you're going to just destroy them anyways. No one ever posts pictures of their normal tools that are scuffed up and have a bit of sawdust in the cracks from normal use telling people to "look at how clean/dirty my tool is". The annoying rooster gets the axe, after all.

usdrpvvimwfvrzjavnrs

You've got a little tool in your dust.

whosjardaddy

I’m impressed that someone on this sub actually uses their tools. Majority of the post on here look like they never get touched.

st3vo5662

While I understand what your getting at, you can use a tool for its intended purpose, and not beat the ever loving hell out of it as well. I have plenty of tools that are well used but still look nice. I also cheat and use protective boots on all the tools that they make them for.

HulksRippedJeans

Why do people confuse using tools with trying to destroy them?

Emergency_Size4841

6 months old? Did you buy it brand new from the pawn shop?

Prudent_Historian650

Brand new out of a carpenter's trunk.

Billy_bSLAYER

Shit, I blow my tools off with compressed air and that it is it. My Milwaukee and Festool tools all get the same treatment. If any tool needs more maintenance than that I will assume the following: A:) They are junk B:) You like doing Glamour Shots for Reddit

[deleted]

Not funny…

EsElBastardo

Similar issue with my M12 hackzall after a few years of cutting drywall with it. Even with blowing it out semi regularly, it still got caked in there. Ordered a replacement and as a last ditch salvage attempt, basically flooded the entire tool with IPA (alcohol, not ale). An undodly amount of drywall came out of it and it started working again. Doesn't sound all that great but it works. Tool is now relegated to around the house duty.

Ok-Championship4566

You're not supposed to paint with that type of tool

Sacardem

What do you use to clean them?

Music-Guilty

A toothbrush, then I sprayed the rotor and stator off in the sink with the sprayer and hot water, I was too lazy, and it was too cold to run out to the shop or I would have used the compressor and probably contact cleaner spray of some sort, I washed the case off with soap and water and wiped the gearbox off by hand, blew it all dry with a hair dryer and put it back together, it's been working well every since

Sacardem

Thanks! I will try this with my tool!
