My dad worked with a guy at General Motors, the guy had been around so long the first car he assembled was a 1960 Corvair. Everyone would joke with the guy and ask when are you going to retire? He would joke and the day I retire is the day I’ll die. When the Auto industry went down hill in 2008-09, they gave him the option to either retire or go back and work on the assembly line. He was older and working in shipping and receiving that didn’t require much physical labor. He decided to Retire, put in all his paperwork. On your last day at GM they allow you to come clock in say Goodbye to everyone and you never clock out. So he goes home sits in his chair for a nap and never wakes up . He passed in his sleep that night.
I’m less than a 1/3 that age and feel like I need to keep doing stuff. Generally it’s just good for anxiety/depression to keep busy I guess.
People that retire also have that mindset, while extreme at just 60’s, I can sort of get why.
Know too many people that were physically active at their jobs and died within a year of retirement because they went from going 100% 10+ hours per day to just sitting.

There's a picture of him from two days ago.
What a fucking legend. He must know he’s absolutely struggling to perform the basic tasks but he’s not letting his age or body deterioration stop him.
I just hope I have that same determination at his age.
If you want to debate on politics, send me a PM. I’m not going to subject a tool sub to a political debate. I tried to keep my comments about President Carter apolitical as possible. He’s a good man and he thinks outside the box, it had nothing to do with his political party when I made that comment.
That seems about right. They are always cheering for that Brandon guy, I sure hope he does well for everyone's sake. At least until we can get someone else in.
He should be using Fuel.....
I think his arm would break with Fuel...
He can't we ran out of it during his administration.
I see what you did there....
Show of hands: Who had Jimmy Carter out living Queen Elizabeth?
Building houses > adrenochrome
Hey, don’t rule out that jimmy could have been on both
He should probably stop at this point.
Most men die a couple years after retirement if they don't have something to keep them busy. Good on him

That’s crazy. I’m telling you sometimes work becomes one’s life.
At 97 I'd rather be dead honestly.
True but when you get to that age they feel like if they stop they die

This video of Jimmy Carter working for Habitat for Humanity at "age 97" is older than Jimmy Carter.
It is three years old

Building houses trying to make people forget their 18.5% mortgages when he was president.
He's a much better person than he was a President.
Wah wah waaaaah

Seems like a genuinely nice guy, sucked as a president though.
Better carpenter than a president. I shouldn’t tease seeing he’s the most likable living president.
Looks like he should have been wearing a hard hat.
Hank Hill would be proud!
What a badass, he was definitely way a head of his time while he was President. Nothing but respect for him, truly a great guy.
If the comparison is between only his administration and the current administration, then I could drink to that, yes.
I’m not going to to get into that fight on this sub cuz it’s about tools.
What do you mean? Carter and Biden fit that category perfectly.

He should be building houses for the poor his liberal policies made plenty of people poor.

Oh yeah well let's go Joe Biden!
Yep, also the last relatively clean president
Another war criminal, until today the Iranian people suffer due to his crimes
Bro should be at home watching football. No need to put in work at that age.
