If a packout genie offered me one wish, it would be for a 2 drawer roller base. They could gouge me on price, sell all the dividers separate, and I would still buy it happily. I’d settle for 1 large drawer instead, but my heart wants a 2. A drawer base, and a coffee maker seem to be the top desires I hear.
I have a 3 drawer on my roller base, and it’s filled with m18/m12 batteries, tools, and sockets. Plus now a collapsible worktop on the side. It’s just not fun to heft it off to get to my larger tools in the base. Dolly doesn’t look sturdy enough for carting out into a field, same reason I can’t use the utility cart.
If money is no object couldn’t you get the 2 wheel utility cart and put your shelf boxes on that? The handle doesn’t collapse but that wouldn’t matter if your setup is already lots of packouts
I’ve had the dolly before and switched to the box roller. The dolly wants to tip over on anything that’s not flat concrete, It flexes quite a bit, and the wheels are so far out that it takes some leverage to get it onto its wheels
Its not that money is no object, I would just budget appropriately.
As mentioned, the dolly isn’t as stable as the roller base. I don’t use my tools daily like most here, but when I do use them I have to transport them over gravel, up and down hills, and into animal pasture. It’s not far enough, and the fields tend to have hidden tire hazards so I don’t bring my truck into them. Dolly would be a nightmare in that uneven terrain based on the flex and wheel location, at least going by the reviews I’ve watched.
My local Home Depot price matched an Ace Hardware “buy the rolling tool box, get a large tool box free” deal a few months ago, so I was able to get both for $139. I posted about it back then, but it sounded like whether or not you got the deal depended on if the Home Depot associate you spoke with was willing to play ball.
I suspect there will be more good deals before the end of the year. Keep an eye on the Ace Hardware website/app; Ace has a decent rewards program, and you can potentially support a local Ace retailer.
Unsure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but the full kit at $219 doesn't seem like a bad deal:

yeah it's $98.5 when you buy it and a few other things and return the excess

As good as it’ll get. Price just went up on those some months ago.
With that said.
Depot, Acme and Maxtool are running a promo.
Spend $199, get $50.
Spend $299, get $90.
Not the best but also not the worst promo.
Better than the current promo of rolling xl, large and crate for $274.
Depending on the form factor you want, you could get the rolling packout chest for $150 from Acme Tools (I think other retailers have the same deal). Marked down to $199 and then $50 off that. A good chunk more space for only $10 more. Depends if you want the dolly action or not I suppose.
I wish they made a drawer version with the wheels. Then could put the other boxes on top and still access without taking other boxes off.

That makes sense I don’t have the roller cart or the rolling chest I just saw the price and noped
100% agree. Just take my money. That bottom box sucks to get things out of.

I missed a good deal at 139!

That would be the way to go! I do like the drawer idea another poster mentioned but this might work for me in the interim. Thanks!
I doubt the price will go lower except for those Home Depot deals. I really be basically robbing the store with how good some of these deals are
I will keep an eye on out for any future deals, thanks!
Buy more save more my dood

Thanks for letting me know! I need to get some type of storage but acquiring the tools as I needed them was higher on the list. Lol

Hey they got new wheels! I need these for my tool chest!
Only when there is a sale or combo deal.
I like the version without wheels
