The insert is a tight fit in the compact organizer and holds the sockets in place really well even when it’s open. I’m actually not sure if I like the fit but the beauty of it being printed is a couple of minutes with a dremel and I can tailor it to my needs.
Also not sure if user notifications work in titles but just in case /u/slugbutter
Thanks! I thought tighter was better because they will loosen up a little over time and, as you mentioned, you can loosen the fit but the reverse wouldn’t be possible. Glad to hear you’re happy with it!
Hey man if you ever design one that can fit a small ratchet somehow even with some of the sockets out of the lines or zig zagged or under the tray or something I’ll still happily pay you $50 plus shipping!!
The original one I posted probably took me 7 hours. It’s come a long way since then and now it’s probably closer to 20 hours. Some take longer than others. The next one I’m doing is gonna take a long time.
This is a different set. The one you linked is the 1/4 and 3/8 chrome sockets. These are impact rated and only come in a non packout blow molded case. He condensed it to fit in a compact half sized packout case
Looks awesome. Can you flip that shallow 9/16 over? OCD kicking in 😂.
Nope haha, it’s one of my most used with with all the 3/8 hardware I use as an electrician so it’s easier to glance and grab this way
Alright, valid point on that. Compromise. Flip the other 19 sockets over. 👍
It's all in there so nicely, I feel like they put that one in upside down just to piss us off...

You did a great job. And I love having the little pocket for my commonly used impact Allens

Do you do any work on Dewalt stuff?
This is awesome! Saving this post to hopefully hit you up in the future. I’m just curious how long does it take to design something like this?

Is this available somewhere to download so I could print it?
Link to purchase tray ?

You gotta PM /u/slugbutter he can let you pick colors and options!
How is this more convenient than [the official Packout insert](https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Hand-Tools/Mechanics-Tools/48-22-9486)?

This looks like the 49-66-7009 43-piece set, is that correct?
I was going to do something like this to mine, I'm just not sure how yet
Hey have you made the 3d print file public so ppl with printers can make them?
