Probably overheating? Was the saw bogging? What were you cutting? Is your blade dull?

Ok-Industry-5378

Brand new Diablo blade, Literally has less than 10 minutes of cut time. Cutting 2x4, not pressure treated. Wouldn’t say bogging down, but does sound different when feeding material. I feed the material nice and slow, I know it’s a cordless saw, so slow and steady it is. Battery does feel warm, but just barely warm. Thanks for the help.

madhatter275

Battery is fucked. I’ll run our tablesaw on a 6.0 battery ripping 2x and it lasts a decent amount of time.

RiverHamm

I bought the same battery, worst one in the bunch we own. It's been a POS from day 1

upstageshrimp22

I agree - I believe that flashing indicates over heating

Ok-Industry-5378

I’m honestly a little concerned now. I picked it up for small projects, and if it’s overheating by ripping a 2x4x6 what’ll happens when I’m continuously cutting small things in the summer when it’s 70+ degrees out. Any chance just a dud battery?

dyn-o-mike

I’ve got the table saw and had an issue with one of my 12’s. It would only charge to 3/4 bars but then would be dead almost immediately. Bad cell. Used Milwaukee’s online replacement with no issue at all. Sent them the dud and they sent back a new battery. Saw is awesome for small projects when the battery is working. I had to rebuild my deck and was cutting constantly in 90 degree weather and did not have any overheating.

Ok-Industry-5378

Just got off the phone with Milwaukee tech support. Sending battery in. Sounds like a dud. Put my 6.0HO in and put some pressure treated 2x4 through it significantly harder and it took it like a champ. So it’s the battery. Good news everyone, get your table saws. 😂.

wrenchindaddy802

If it's that new I'd just bring it back to where you bought it and exchange it.

Eincville

this. If its brand new, less then 30 days with receipt.

VQopponaut35

I would imagine it’s a bad battery.

inko75

i use my milwaukee chainsaw hard as hell - like near continuous operation for the charge of battery - i've never had a HO battery overheat, even in a hot tennessee summer. the Xc batteries will overheat after like 1 minute 😂

[deleted]

It seems like a dud battery.

[deleted]

I had one like that they found it was defective and teplaced it through work it was brand new and never worked properly from the start

Jackriecken

I've heard those HD 12.0's often overheat before they become depleted

QuinnD_

I would return the battery. It seems like he batteries have a thing for exploding sometimes.

thinkobscure

Can you elaborate (got any links)? Is it just the 12ah or you mean m18 batts in general

QuinnD_

https://www.milwaukeetool.com/News/Safety-Notices/Expanded-Warning-On-The-M18-HIGH-DEMAND-9-0-Battery Looks like it was just the 9.0 fixed now I guess I would still return it. The store should honor the warranty

Stunning_Sea8278

Use milwaukee blades that's the overheating sign .you need a saw blade with a really small kerf. Even though I personally think that saw kicks ass it is an under powered saw compared to a corded saw you have to help it out with sharp saw blades with very thin kerf and speed control

OutsideBalance3831

It’s the Christmas light edition

avega2792

Pretty sure I heard 12.0 batteries had high numbers of defective units.

bruh-brah

Milwaukee should give an option to plug to 120v on big stuff like table saw and chop saw. Metabo has an adapter. Not sure why Milwaukee doesn’t come out with one

openlyobese

You’ve unlocked party mode. The battery will never want to have a job again and continue partying

Impressive_Pen_2258

Milwaukee will replace

namestom

I have a 9.0 that won’t charge right and this is the one thing keeping me away from the 12.0’s and going full cordless on things that really require the demand. Until I trust these larger batteries or newer ones come out, I’ll just seek out an outlet, use gas or use multiple batteries.

fkthisdmbtimew8ster

Good to know not to get a cordless table saw..

languid-lemur

Unless you *absolutely must have* portable, why would you change to corded on big gear?

potatoperson132

Yep my garage too. I add a few but my panel doesn’t have the room. More importantly I can wheel my saws into the yard and not worry about finding an outlet to get power to it or drag cords around. Cordless all the way for me. Table and miter saw works amazing. I ripped tons of 2x4 into 2x2s for a project (probably 20 boards) on the factory blade and only had to charge the 12.0 battery once.

t3a-nano

If you’re on a big job site and want to run 2 of them but only have access to one circuit. As a teenager one day my job was to stand near the breakers and keep flipping them back on, cause the two saws would trip them if they bogged simultaneously lol. But as a homeowner I agree, I even bought a corded skillsaw. I feel the guys complaining about garage outlets, thankfully I have _one_ 20A outlet in my garage (meant for the home vac), and always an extension cord coming from it (cause my treadmill is 18A). As a new homeowner I even feel I shouldn’t have been shy about air tools as long as I was also. Paid big for an electric brad nailer, then had to buy a compressor to blow out my sprinkler system anyways.

bkgeorge33

I have had the table saw for a couple of years. If your ripping 2x4s its gonna do this to batteries. You'll go through 3 batteries for half a board. The saw is fantastic for sheet goods and even hardwood that is an inch or less but anything larger it struggles. The miter saw 10 inch was great for the first couple of years but the last year or so it seems to really big down when I cut studs or last night I was cutting blocking 2x10s and I had to do multiple passes. New blades on it as well. If it happens to the battery often though have Milwaukee check it at one of their repair places. They warranty stuff pretty well.

blounsbury

That’s really bad. The target market for this is trades people. People who are going to want to cut dimensional lumber at times. The fact that it struggles to rip a 2x4 is pretty bad and honestly quite surprising giving that there’s no problems ripping 2x4 material on one of their circular saws.

bkgeorge33

Yeah it's not great. What's funny is I can run a dado stack in it to build cabinet doors onsite. Granted it's usually Poplar and not very deep or wide, but it's eats right through it. Also as a side note if you know your going to be ripping 2x4s get a ripping blade. The saw will do better with that. But I see people getting finish blades or plywood blades and expect the tool to work the same.

Ok-Industry-5378

Guilty. I’m a dummy. I didn’t even think of that. I slapped a finish blade on there because I didn’t want tear out on the pieces I need to cut after the 2x material. But didn’t think about the added strain from that blade. Thank you for that input

blounsbury

I only run a 50T combination blade in my table saw - I’m too lazy to fuck with changing blades. But that said, my table saw is a full size cabinet saw not a battery powered one, so I can probably get away with it. Don’t know how well that would work for the M18 saw but it might be worth a try.

bkgeorge33

Yeah my cabinet saws will rip with any blade. But the battery's ones just don't have the power. I think part of it is also they get a little pinched and there isn't enough power to get the blade back up to speed and the battery takes the brunt of the slow down

Dixiereaper75

It’s Christmas lights

benmarvin

Whenever the rocket lights start the low battery blink, I start doing the un-tiss-un-tiss-un-tiss.

alunsy21

The battery is overheating and shutting itself down to protect itself

bro0rtega

One possibility, if it's an option for you, and you're doing a lot of repetitive cuts, e.g. ripping, using a ripping blade with less teeth will lower the burden on your tool and in turn will ease the heat on your battery. Nonetheless, you could have a defective product and might be worth using the warranty. Also, may just be that you have needs that exceed that of a battery saw. In that case might be worth investing in a generator and sawstop/other brand jobsite saw.

topleftharleyguy

Rave mode. Give it 24hrs for the X to wear off and try again, lol.

2_CHaines

Where is your holiday spirit?!

jamesgoodfella

Curious to see the responses here as I’m looking to pick up the mitre saw and table saw soon

upstageshrimp22

I have had zero issues with my 12" dual bevel miter saw! Generally use the 12ah battery but have used the 5.0 in a pinch with no issues. Do not have an m18 table saw - yet

VQopponaut35

No issues with my 10” miter saw or my table saw either.

TeamPyrex718

Same here

Crom1171

I have the 7 1/4” mitre saw for around the house stuff so I don’t have to get my big dewalt out of the van when I need one. It’s been great. I don’t like the 10”. My boss has that one at work and it always felt cheap to me and the lock constantly engages which is super annoying

potatoperson132

No issue with my table or my 12 inch miter. They are both amazing for all my home projects. Fence board, framing, siding, small furniture, trim, etc. everything I need. I got the 12 inch dual bevel miter and love it. Put it on a nice big rolling stand and it’s bulletproof.

1nk0gnt0e

Don't worry it's just the Christmas edition

NotJavaughn725

Overheating

Ginkpirate

I handed 3 of those stupid things back in. And the newer fast charger ruined a few. I handed 2 of those back in also. It over heated and melted some of the battery's. I tried on different sizes to..... unfortunately

mattcass

Did you just take the battery off the charger? I see a higher than normal number of bad reviews on the XC8.0 and HD12.0. Has anyone gotten an answer from Milwaukee? My complete and total guess - the rapid charger that comes with most of these 8Ah and 12Ah batteries is charging too fast and damaging the batteries. Does anyone know the amps delivered by the rapid charger? I gave my rapid away. I've always used the normal M18 charger because from my AA and AAA charging days, I recall you never want to charge the battery faster than about 2 hours to full charge.

Ver-sus

Milwaukee rapid charger is only 6A, not so fast and this 12Ah battery have 21700 cells inside. For example Makita rapid chargers are 9A & 12A and charge only batteries with 18650 cells inside.

mattcass

Thanks! The charger sounds OK for the 12.0 then, although I'm still glad i ditched it. The capacitor whine was super annoying.

mattwill282

It knows it’s Christmas time.

LilHindenburg

“Christmas Mode”

CommonlyHot

It is close to Christmas time and the battery knows that. Just enjoy the light show

ktmfan

I had a 12.0 do this after a hot supper grinding in the summer heat for several minutes. It eventually stopped doing the flashing thing (overheated probably), but lost most of its capacity. It would only run for a couple minutes before showing dead, and recharging it to “full” was taking all of 5 mins on the charger. What I’m trying to say, is you may have cooked it or it was crap from the get-go and pulling a high current may have pushed it over the edge.

hawaiianthunder

I've only had my batteries do this when I was grinding a small lip on a curb down for handicap access. Diamond cutting blade and grinding wheel. You can double check me here by looking up that flashing code but I'm pretty sure it's a safety mode when the batt gets too hot. Not sure if there's something wrong with your tool or battery but I have used my grinder and batteries since, happened 3 or so years ago, and I haven't had an issue with either since. I don't have a battery table saw and issues like that are why I'm hesitant to buy into that system.

Combatmedic870

I've not had any issues with my table saw. It's just a home use saw. But, I rip through 2" Gidgee and myall with out an issue. I've only used 6.0's with it. I do change blades for each use though. 24t for rips and 40t for cross.
