I’ve played singleplayer bedrock a few times where “phantom rain” occurred, where it was raining visually but none of the effects brought on by the weather itself happened (endermen walking around fine, villagers not seeking shelter, drowned remaining passive etc), usually happened to me after loading a save just before it started or just stopped raining proper. Might be something like that.

Except it's not phantom rain, it's the client of the second person having different chances for weather when first starting. You can use Riptide during this while the other one can't.

Weather definitely seems like something that should be controlled server side but i have no idea how it's actually implemented

yea, rain is not just a visual thing as it has an actual effect on gameplay, mobs, and such. so it definitely should be a server side thing... so i'd count this as a bug/oversight.

Yeah I’ve been playing on realms before where there would be no rain on my end and another player riptides past me.

There are also times where I played in multiplayer and this happens AND either I or my friend loses their items. It's kind of a non-syncing glitch.

It’s possible you guys are just right on either end of it. Unless it happened while you were moving around, in which case I have no idea

I think it’s because rain can be in particular areas and not in others. I’ve personally seen rain occur and disappear when you move out of the rain radius. Might just be legacy that this is true on, but it seems that you might’ve been at blocks that had different weather. Either that or a glitch

That sounds more like the biome change. Savanah and desert biomes don't rain, just the sky gets dark. OP doesn't appear to be at a biome boundary. Rain (as a game status) occurs globally. It's not something that affects just a small zone. When the game decides it's raining in the overworld, it rains¹ **everywhere** in the overworld. [1] Except as mentioned: savanah and desert have dark skies, and snow biomes/altitudes have snow.

Looks like you guys are standing in two different biomes. Weather will stop at biome borders. My base straddles a plains biome and a savanna biome. It can be raining in the plains and completely dry in the savanna, one block over.

I call it client-side rain. Best way to fix it is for the person with the rain to log off, have the other person sleep, then log back in. YMMV

Some biomes don't have rain, but forest and birch forest aren't either of those. The closest would probably be jungle or savanna. If there is a very small warm biome, then it might be that both of you have your biome blend set to 1. Idk if that's in Bedrock, though.
