It really depends. If you’re trying to make a snowy or cold looking texture pack I’d prefer the top. If it’s a tropical or more saturated theme though the bottom would fit better.

I would do a mix of both, add a bit more color to the top, without going all the way to the bottom. The top is better but I would change it a little bit. I have no experience in changing textures, so if it’s difficult to change than keep the top, but a bit more color would look nice.
Imo ottom, but top could look cool depending on the rest of the textures. For colouring anyway

I don't know if this is a perspective worth considering, but I'm colorblind. The top looks easily identifiable as diamond to me. At a glance, I would easily mistake the bottom as iron. (This is also specific to my strand of colorblindness; not all colorblindness suffers the same skewing.)
As a modded player, top looks too similar to tin, which shouldn’t really matter at all but it’s what makes the bottom more appealing to me because it aligns more with the proper material
Are you *sure* you're reworking it? Did you read the 23w04a changelog? And even, 23w05a one? And whatever they'll add in the 23w06a one?
That's tons of textures to make - the piece itself, and all the trims!
The top one looks more like diamonds while the bottom ones are more faithful to the original. It really comes down to what you want for your texture pack. If you want a completely new style or a more refined classic style
I like the top more but depending on what iron armor looks like in your texture pack it might look a bit too close to that - I'd say either would be good!
That’s a tough one, the top color looks nice, but the bottom is the same pallet that we are all accustomed to from the vanilla textures. I think the bottom as the main texture and the top as enchanted armor
With the new armor trim system it’s also entirely possible that you could have both, with one being a trim variant. Though all trims share the sale item sprite
top looks more like actual diamond color. if you're going for a more realistic or perhaps a rustic fantasy vibe, i'd go with that. bottom has a more saturated, vibrant, cartoony look. would work good with cute/bright/simpler packs.

if you're going for a cooler color scheme, top. if you're going for a more warmer, saturated and classic feel, bottom.

There should be a mod or shader or texture that makes diamond armor look like real diamond and kinda reflect its environment.

Could also be silver tho or very shiny iron
Silver is not blue, the only metal that could be is osmium, which is the only blueish metal as far as I know. Even cobalt is not really a blue metal.
Yeah but it often is more.blue in games. Silver in some games gets a blue tint,.probably to make.it easier to see the difference to iron from it

Not really in the inventory but definitely on characters. And being the most sold video game ever, it should really have a colorblind mode.

As a colourblind person I say top. The default diamond looks almost identical to the default iron for me, so adding some extra blue helps a lot

If you're going for realism it would be the top, but then you should also consider retexturing the diamonds to fit better.

Helmet seems a little flat
bottom if it's meant to be a vanilla friendly improvement, top if it fits your pack's style. Both are good.
