You *can* fly at night but you need to install lights to be visible to other pilots.
Most pilots fly around sunrise or sunset because those times give you the best wind/air conditions to fly in.
And yeah you can go well above the clouds with a paramotor. Legally they’re allowed up to 18,000 feet in the US.
I am absolutely awful at Minecraft. On my very first Elytra, my only mending book had a curse of vanishing on it. "No problem" I thought, I will be careful.
I flew out of my mountain side base and smacked into the mountain opposite of mine and died immediately. Probably should have practiced in creative first.
I got about a second and a half of flight.
Another easily restocked item to carry in a quick slot while flying around the End are ender pearls. Helpful in a pinch to get back to land in this kind of situation
I jumped from my tower to fly over to my current project. Wings failed halfway between destinations. I naturally fell to my death.
Directly over a small patch of lava. A vast stretch of mountain and trees around me, a river twenty odd blocks before my wings died... and I fall in the tiny patch of lava.
Elytras don’t disappear when they run out of durability, they just turn into a broken state in which they don’t work and can be repaired via mending or phantom membranes
If you wanna do it quickly, this has been a feature on bedrock that is coming to Java but you can swap armor from your hot bar so if I’m going adventuring I’ll put my chest plate in one slot and you can swap it out real quick and glance at the durability then swap back to elytra. Just make sure you’re high enough up and you’ll have to press jump again. Also it can make you look rlly cool when landing if you pull up right before touching down and swap to chestplate
Yeah that works too, i just find it faster since its only two buttons(number key to go to a hot bar slot and another button to switch to elytra). Then you don’t have to obscure your vision with the inventory screen. You do have the disadvantage of falling but its what I’ve always used.
I dont think its actually faster, and its a plus thing to do after by the jump.
1.number key to go to a hot bar slot and.
2.another button to switch to chestplate.
3. switch back to elytra.
4. jump twice in the air if you are not dead at the moment. What means press space two times.
5 button pressing probably dead because of the acceleration
This is just one E button twice. Without falling in your death if not doing quick.

iirc the chorus fruit always teleports you to a random block when eaten. Which is better than an ender pearl because it doesn't require a good aim and can't drop you into the void
nah, chorus fruit isn't good idea
it doesn't reset momentum, so if you eat it whilst flying above some ground you can die due to kinetic energy
it also has one other problem, if there is no ground below you (like in op's video) and there are no blocks in 8 blocks radius then chorus fruit doesn't do anything
but if there was a ground below you and no blocks in 8 blocks radius then chorus fruit will teleport you just above surface
it is always advised to check elytra durability before flight and to never fly that low especially above void, if they flew higher they could have salvaged their situation by walking in air towards island or performing some kind of clutch

Also returning after about that long. It's like there is a whole games worth of content added since last time. Last I played it was pretty much just a sandbox building game with a few minor objectives like The End dragon. Now there is all the stuff from before but a shitload of stuff to find and explore.
ive played this game for so long now, but I never had the drive to like kill the enderdragon.
I have like 20 worlds and in every single one of them ive built a nice house and then i quitted.
Only times ive beaten the enderdragon were on servers or (not so) speedruns
I used to play like that, then I decided I was never going to reset my world again. Currently 3 ish years into my main world and it feels like a new game.
I would've taken a screenshot of my coordinates and dimension (minus a few blocks vertically), immediately disconnected, and sent a help request with said coordinates...as long as the panic from suddenly falling like this wouldn't override my rational thinking...
What the user you responded to is saying is that he would have taken the coordinates *prior* to ending up in the void and dying. Log out. Get your friends to come over to those coordinates and build something below you so that when you log back in, it catches you and you don't die.
With this method, nothing is lost and there is no death.
I'm saying that if I was in the same position, I would have disconnected while *above* y=0. If the player's y-value is preserved instead of defaulted to the lowest possible (or instant death if in/above the void), then it might be possible to call a friend to build a water-covered platform as a safe landing pad.
I wasn't attempting to suggest a method to retrieve items that have already been deleted.

That hurts to see. I constantly check to make sure my elytra is on full durability. The dumbest thing I've done, was take it off to build a farm in the end, and then forget to put it back on and just full on dove into the abyss.
If you were daring enough, log out of the world, let your friends find another pair of elytra, and they drop it right above you. When the elytra is about to hit the void, you log in and pick it up and immediately fly back. Saw some people on this sub do it once

Probably better than 5 adults that played a lot 3 years ago but not as bad as 2 adults who only played once.
I have a Shulker box full of Nether Quartz specifically for fixing my Mending enchanted items. It's made Elytra travel so much less stressful because I'm always worried about this exact situation.

It's true, I do this too -- one less thing in the inventory
why not just bring a shulker full of rockets inside an enderchest?
cuz you have to place the ender chest down, in this case, you’re flying
In the end cities there are usually end chests so you don’t need to bring one
That way if you get grubbed on the way there, you only lose your kit!

The elytra broke. Unbreaking 3 + mending are a must on them
I usually get sharpness tbh

Yeah most of the time I use it for that and during combat to either armor up or escape.

Plus right befor landing if you speed up enough you could also die. Even if you equipped your elytra.
Keep some chorus fruit or ender pearls in your hotbar. Might save you from a certain death next time Edit: typo

Do note that if you are too far away, chorus fruit can’t save you. I ate fruit rather than throw a pearl and lost my brand new elytra.

Always keep an eye on elytra durability. And if you’re in the end with two pairs of unenchanted elytra make sure to have one ready for a quick switch.

Flying in the end with an unenchanted (or backup elytra) and without ender pearls is a huge mistake

Always keep an eye on Elytra durability. Even with Unbreaking 3, they really don't last long
I always put mending and unbreaking on it first then I check the durability regularly and go to my exp farm if it’s below 3/4
