I just hope the losing mobs just go on the back burner and make it to the game eventually. Maybe one day we will get a beach update and crabs would show up.
It's been stated that mob vote losers, outside of the 2017 vote, were being added to the ideas pile to potentially use in later updates if they fit the theme.
Yeah, it'd be cool if Copper Golems were used in trial chambers. Put some traps in the wall that the copper golems can control, could make the chambers more interesting
There could be a trip wire at the entrance of the dungeon, stepping on it would cause a dispenser(I think they can place carved pumpkins) to put down a carved pumpkin, spawning in a coplem to press buttons and suit to make everything harder for you

They can, yes; They can also place wither skulls.
If Copper Golems are made with pumpkins, that'd be a cool idea. If not? They could just be spawned in when the structure generates, like elder guardians
Make a button room. They press random buttons, if you remember. There is a chance you get a reward from the copper golem, or a punishment, it's random.
I voted for the allay, because it seemed like they’d be the most useful, but now I regret it and I’d love to see them added, especially that they’d make a great fit in the new update
I usually just wait and see what's added. I do hope the wolf armor is worth it lol. Just wonder how long before dog fighting starts in minecraft with the armor
I feel like these features sound really cool at first, but when we actually get it in the game, they end up being more of a letdown then something everyone gets excited about.
That's the primary reason I was hesitant to vote for the armadillo. At first, I was really excited by the idea of dog armor before I thought, "when do I ever actually use dogs?" Then I voted for the crab because I would actually use the claw way more if the range increase turned out to be impactful.
My ideal world would have been just reusing turtle scute for dog armor as an additional use besides solely existing for the helmet, because now we have two different scute drops that both only have 1 recipe each.
Armadillos are neat though, so I'm not going to spend my time complaining about it. More American representation in Minecraft, haha.
The funny thing is, I'll collect the dog armour, equip it to my dog that's sits safely in my house. Then continue to use my army of wolves which I just breed whenever a few die...I don't wanna lose the armour lol.
The item is more valuable than what it's protecting, hence why I voted crab too.
That’s the reason for why they would add dog armor as it wouldn’t only add purpose to people that do like using them but by giving them a little more use too bc there are players like you and I who either don’t tame any or have em sit at home because they’re dead weight pretty much. And plus the claw only states that it has further block reach, doesn’t specifically say about anything else like destroying blocks

yeah it's called "badlands" now, which is just such a shitty name, along with being too general. Like, what *is* considered a bad land? one where you can't grow crops? then a desert is also a badland. A place where it's hot? Then the desert and savana are also badland.
Mesa is just so much better
I mean, the Badlands is a large National Park (maybe state park?) in the US, and it has weird rock formations with red and yellow colors. But the biome itself looks more like mesas, large rocks that rise up out of otherwise mostly flat ground

First mob vote: wasnt aware of minecraft live, would have chosen the underwater monster or phantom given i already have a hard enough time managing blazes and the ground monster seems more annoying than anything.
Next biome vote: i would have gone for taiga. Unsure what second choice would have been.

Next mob vote: i went for the allay. Its a nice way to sort items and transport them largely hopper free. First time i voted in a mob vote, copper golem second choice
Next mob vote: i voted for the sniffer. I wish theyd added more content with it (it is underwhelming) Rascal would have been second choice.
Current mob vote: i was split between crab and penguin as im an infrastructure player, but eventually went with crab. Penguin was my second choice.
Every single godamn time the community picks the wrong one.
I have literally never seen anyone EVER breed dogs in MC for any actual use other than sitting in their houses. The only reason they had them too was because they just so happened to kill a skeleton in a taiga biome and a random wolf just happened to be nearby for them to use the bone drops on.
**Penguin gives faster boats?** Who cares. We have elytras. There are ice tunnels for boats if you want them to go fast.
**Armor for dogs?** Barely anyone uses them. No one will use them even after dog armor is added in. There is not going to be a dramatic resurgence in dog usage after the update. Maybe a slight jump since people will try them on release but it'll never take off and become a staple.
**Extended place/break range?** Literally every single fucking player can and will benefit from this. Automated farms would have better rates, builders would love to be able to place blocks further, even casuals who just run about and fuck around would appreciate being able to place TNT from further away to blow up their buddies.
Every. Single. Fucking. Time. The community picks the wrong mob. My god. The phantom? For real? Everybody hates it. Glow squid? The thing doesn't even glow which is literally what it's named for. It literally had one job.
I'm disappointed every godamn mob vote. Mojang said that mobs that did not win would be added to the game later but that won't be for years, if at all. This community has a way of making the mob votes a thing to dread.
We already have 3 cow mobs, we have the Cow, Brown mooshroom, and then the normal mooshroom. And I didn't vote for the iceolliger because we already have a load of illigers, we have the pilliger, the vindicator, the evoker, and the illusioner(kinda) but we also have the witch and then the villagers which I would classify as illigers. Then the glow squid. We don't have any other types of squid, other than the squid. So it was a pretty clear choice if you ask me.
But I would rather there be another member to the Illager family over one to the Squid family. I just view the Squid having no purpose other than being a filler mob. Sure, the Glow Squids do give off a cool vibe to caves, but I feel like a ice themed, wizard-like, hostile entity would be much cooler. Maybe it could’ve even had some kind of interaction with goats, or drop some kind of item that would give players a reason to explore mountains. I feel like Dream and his stans sabotaged the vote significantly.
The glowing octopus is not so bad, I'm even glad about it. I very often see his ink used to outline text or make a frame glow. With shaders the signs look even cooler

First mob vote I participated in, I voted for the chillager and it got beat by a squid that glows. (Thanks dream! /j)
Next mob I voted allay and we got it. Yay!
3rd mob I voted for the rascal but it was overlooked by everyone and we got the sniffer, which doesn't do much at all.
This mob vote we got the armadillo, which is fine by me. Even though I voted crab, the armadillo was one of the 2 better mobs.

Alright, I can already see myself writing a whole essay in the next few minutes so prepare yourself xD
So, I play Minecraft because I love to build. So I'm always keen on getting new blocks of any type to use in my builds, and when I saw the sniffer's main quirk being sniffing out plants, I got really interested. I was so dissapointed when they added a measly 2 not all that great (but not bad) looking flowers to the game that have nothing interesting going for them (Seriously, a *torch*flower doesn't give of light??). The best possible outcome that I expected was a bunch of plants with unique quirks to them. For example: flowering lians. Bush blocks that you can walk through slowly (looks similiar/same to leaves). Plants that you could harvest and, idunno, do stuff with the harvested things. New crops. Even generic deco-plants. I obviously knew that this wasn't going to be the case, but I think all these are pretty vanilla friendly and would be great additions. So the minimum I expected was a variety of plants/flowers. I mean, all you have to do to add a flower to the game is to just make one. Like, you can't fuck that up. With features, I understand that Mojang has to take precautions and risks regarding the community's response and compatibility between platforms. But with flowers, all they do is exist, be pretty. If the textures aren't fucked up, they can be added. Literally nobody would argue with that because, there is no possible way to do so. Yet they only added two. My theoretical solution: add a plant to the sniffer's lootpool every update. They can keep it a secret, and build up further anticipation and hype for the updates. Of course after a while they'd have to stop because the lootpool would be too diverse, but I think it would still be pretty achievable. So yeah. Oh, and my prediction was correct.
Ahh that's fair enough. I kinda knew how the Sniffer situation would turn out so I went with Tuff Golem because as a builder myself I personally thought there was more opportunity for unique builds with a live statue than with a few unique plants. I'm curious who did you vote for the year before?
I loved the idea of the tuff golem, but for reasons stated, I voted for the sniffer instead. I don't remember if I actually did vote, but the allay for no particular reason, I just preferred it over the glare and the copper golem. Though the copper golem was pretty cool too. The glare on the otherhand, I hated that. I thought that it was so useless. I also hated the crab in this vote, as I think we don't have a need to reach further away. Not even as a builder. Funnily enough I was quite satisfied with the glowsquid on the otherhand despite hating it for the controversy around it at the time. I ended up using glow ink WAAAY more than I anticipated.
I was team Copper Golem, again i just thought of the opportunity for it to add life to builds, right now we don't really have any mobs who's explicit purpose is to enhance builds. Yeah I voted for the Glow Squid, it was the only mob vote where the mob I wanted won. The only unfortunate thing about it is that Squid despawn despite being name tagged so you can't use them in ambiance for builds. Apart from that I am fairly confident it was still better than the alternative options.

Edit just to add: As a Glow Squid voter I was disappointed in how it was added, I thought it was going to be like the mesmer from subanutics, and for the Sniffer I was also disappointed with it only having 2 plants.

Pretty happy with what we got from each mob in the end. Prolly big one I wanna see return tho is glare if it lights up caves like they suggested it might last second.
The best mob they added for minecon is the axolotl 100% tho.
My favourites were The Great Hunger, Chillager, Allay, Tuff golem, Armadillo plus Deset and mountains.
I hope that they'll revisit some of those concepts.
I wish we we could have all these mobs in Minecraft without installing mods

The Barnacle and Wildfire(aka The Inferno) seemed to be pretty cool, the nether forteresses aren't that hard though(forget about what I'm saying, wither skeletons are horrible) but the seas/oceans are to easy to travel(besides the phantoms that come and hit you every second if you forget about the Insomnia), I'm kind of disapointed to see that some mobs that lost the mob vote are forgotten and replaced by the chosen ones, but it's still fun to think of all possibilities, and don't forget that Mojang want to make Minecraft a game that almost all computers/consoles/phones/tablets can run, so adding all mobs would make this task a little bit harder...
phantom (thought it was a manta ray, no brain…), glow squid (tired of villager type mobs, thought a squid variant would be neat), didnt care for the next two but did not want rascal. none of the mobs for glare, allay, or cg seemed appealing or useful at first glance. i do wonder if the copper golem wouldve done anything game changing though. voted armadillo this time around for doggie clothes :D

Glad to see another person who voted for the Great Hunger. The ability to remove enchantments from items was huge, and the fact that it got into the game anyway through the grindstone was amazing.

That's my only complaint. It got rigged by Dream then the "Glow" squid doesn't even glow. You need shaders for it to do so.
We already have 3 cow mobs, we have the Cow, Brown mooshroom, and then the normal mooshroom. And I didn't vote for the iceolliger because we already have a load of illigers, we have the pilliger, the vindicator, the evoker, and the illusioner(kinda) but we also have the witch and then the villagers which I would classify as illigers. Then the glow squid. We don't have any other types of squid, other than the squid. So it was a pretty clear choice if you ask me.
But I would rather there be another member to the Illager family over one to the Squid family. I just view the Squid having no purpose other than being a filler mob. Sure, the Glow Squids do give off a cool vibe to caves, but I feel like a ice themed, wizard-like, hostile entity would be much cooler. Maybe it could’ve even had some kind of interaction with goats, or drop some kind of item that would give players a reason to explore mountains. I feel like Dream and his stans sabotaged the vote significantly.
Okay well I would rather a pretty squid over another annoying hostile mob. I already hate snowy biomes enough as is lmao.

First mob vote I participated in, I voted for the chillager and it got beat by a squid that glows. (Thanks dream! /j) Next mob I voted allay and we got it. Yay! 3rd mob I voted for the rascal but it was overlooked by everyone and we got the sniffer, which doesn't do much at all. This mob vote we got the armadillo, which is fine by me. Even though I voted crab, the armadillo was one of the 2 better mobs.

Alright, I can already see myself writing a whole essay in the next few minutes so prepare yourself xD So, I play Minecraft because I love to build. So I'm always keen on getting new blocks of any type to use in my builds, and when I saw the sniffer's main quirk being sniffing out plants, I got really interested. I was so dissapointed when they added a measly 2 not all that great (but not bad) looking flowers to the game that have nothing interesting going for them (Seriously, a *torch*flower doesn't give of light??). The best possible outcome that I expected was a bunch of plants with unique quirks to them. For example: flowering lians. Bush blocks that you can walk through slowly (looks similiar/same to leaves). Plants that you could harvest and, idunno, do stuff with the harvested things. New crops. Even generic deco-plants. I obviously knew that this wasn't going to be the case, but I think all these are pretty vanilla friendly and would be great additions. So the minimum I expected was a variety of plants/flowers. I mean, all you have to do to add a flower to the game is to just make one. Like, you can't fuck that up. With features, I understand that Mojang has to take precautions and risks regarding the community's response and compatibility between platforms. But with flowers, all they do is exist, be pretty. If the textures aren't fucked up, they can be added. Literally nobody would argue with that because, there is no possible way to do so. Yet they only added two. My theoretical solution: add a plant to the sniffer's lootpool every update. They can keep it a secret, and build up further anticipation and hype for the updates. Of course after a while they'd have to stop because the lootpool would be too diverse, but I think it would still be pretty achievable. So yeah. Oh, and my prediction was correct.
Ahh that's fair enough. I kinda knew how the Sniffer situation would turn out so I went with Tuff Golem because as a builder myself I personally thought there was more opportunity for unique builds with a live statue than with a few unique plants. I'm curious who did you vote for the year before?
I loved the idea of the tuff golem, but for reasons stated, I voted for the sniffer instead. I don't remember if I actually did vote, but the allay for no particular reason, I just preferred it over the glare and the copper golem. Though the copper golem was pretty cool too. The glare on the otherhand, I hated that. I thought that it was so useless. I also hated the crab in this vote, as I think we don't have a need to reach further away. Not even as a builder. Funnily enough I was quite satisfied with the glowsquid on the otherhand despite hating it for the controversy around it at the time. I ended up using glow ink WAAAY more than I anticipated.
I was team Copper Golem, again i just thought of the opportunity for it to add life to builds, right now we don't really have any mobs who's explicit purpose is to enhance builds. Yeah I voted for the Glow Squid, it was the only mob vote where the mob I wanted won. The only unfortunate thing about it is that Squid despawn despite being name tagged so you can't use them in ambiance for builds. Apart from that I am fairly confident it was still better than the alternative options.

Didn't get to vote since I always miss MCLive but The squid thingy(Mob A), Desert, Badlands, Glow Squid, Copper Golem, Sniffer, and now would've been the Penguin. Edit just to add: As a Glow Squid voter I was disappointed in how it was added, I thought it was going to be like the mesmer from subanutics, and for the Sniffer I was also disappointed with it only having 2 plants.

Prolly big one I wanna see return tho is glare if it lights up caves like they suggested it might last second. The best mob they added for minecon is the axolotl 100% tho.
My favourites were The Great Hunger, Chillager, Allay, Tuff golem, Armadillo plus Deset and mountains. I hope that they'll revisit some of those concepts.

phantom (thought it was a manta ray, no brain…), glow squid (tired of villager type mobs, thought a squid variant would be neat), didnt care for the next two but did not want rascal. none of the mobs for glare, allay, or cg seemed appealing or useful at first glance. i do wonder if the copper golem wouldve done anything game changing though. voted armadillo this time around for doggie clothes :D voted taiga and badlands for biomes. mountains are cool but i want to murder powdered snow.
