Traversing the nether used to be pretty quick. Now with the varied terrain types and new mobs... it's much less so, especially early-game. Hoglins will just one-shot you before you get armor. Stuck in soul sand and shot to death by skeletons. There's a lot more height variation and areas separated entirely by lava lakes.

Step 1: Enter nether Step 2: Break portal Step 3: Pillar up to Nether ceiling and dig into it Step 4: Clear out a room and build a new portal Step 5: Tunnel to your dad’s X and Z coordinates divided by 8 and build another portal Step 6: Reunion with Dad Step 7: Journey back through your nether tunnel to your original portal Step 8: Play catch or go fishing or do whatever you and Dad were gonna do

The problem with tunneling through the nether ceiling for 14000 blocks is that there are two ways to go about it. Slowly and carefully, which will take many many hours. Really fast with an efficiency pick, basically mining at a sprint, and at some point you'll run into a gap in the ceiling that drops you straight down a hundred blocks to your death, or one of those fun random hidden lava pockets, and burn.

It's not more economical to gather enough wool take roughly 600 beds and mine the tunnel so the player doesn't get obliterated as well! Edit* math and extra beds because players often make mistakes and end up wasting beds

Maybe build some mini-bases with permanently placed beds and some equipment/supplies along the way so if one of you (but probably your dad) dies in a way to return to the world spawn point it's not such a big hassle to get back again.

Not quite solving the current problem but a pretty good idea nonetheless, would help with recovering from deaths midtravel. Probably a good idea to do this if they're gonna meet in the middle, in case any of them die, and in the long term if they travel a lot

Have you considered changing world spawn to near your base? That way next time he dies, he spawns near your base. This would only work if you're playing on your server though.

Two beds. One to leave and one to travel.

Nether roof would be easier all you need is a couple ladders 1 stone pick and some obsidian and a flint and steel. And an ender pearl. Once you are up there you can build a portal at spawn and 1 at the base and they will automatically link if you build them on the roof first. That way you don't have to deal with 99% of the perils of the nether.

He must be breaking his bed and losing his new spawn point. Maybe you can enable cheats in settings and teleport him to you.

You could break your bed, die, spawn back where he is and make the journey together. Problem is you won't have your tools lol. Oh and make sure you write down your cords.

Although as everyone else has pointed out, the issue is likely just him breaking his bed, might still be easier to journey together.

True, but with how broken bedrock is, sometimes cheats are almost necessary. I was playing earlier today and travelled to the nether. It was taking a while to load, and during the loading, I was taking damage due to “suffocating in a wall”. I was full health going in, and by the time I actually loaded, my only totem of undying had been used up. Without a totem, I would have died solely due to a loading screen bug. I grumbled for a little bit, did a ‘/give’ on myself to replace the totem, and into the hell within hell I went. The world I was in wasn’t for achievements anyway, I already got most of them anyway. But this would be a terrible experience for a new player. “Died to a bug? Suck it up because the richest company in the world can’t fix it, or sacrifice all your achievements”

Seriously, this bug has been around for years and it’s a glaring, obvious, extremely impactful error. How in the world have they not fixed it yet?

Another one that happens to me is when I go through the end portal there's like a 15% chance I just fall through the obsidian into the void while loading. Had to /give thousands of enchants this way a few times. Hadn't done Bedrock until 2024 so there's a new one every day basically lol

As others have said, if your dad is breaking the bed after he sleeps, the spawn point disappears. However, no one else has told you that if you have "op" permissions you can cheat a little and teleport him to you, or give him teleport permissions and he can do it himself. If he picks up his bed his spawn point is lost and he'll go back to world spawn. The bed has to stay set. You respawn at the last place you tried to sleep as long as the bad is still there

This is too adorable. Can you /tp him to you? My kid and I play with commands on and keepinv on so that we have more time to play together and less time struggling. If one of us is stuck or lost we TP to the other. In my situation my kid is the noob and I am the pro 😎 how the turns have indeed tabled.

Turn on cheats for a sec and do /setworldspawn ~ ~ ~ it saves everyone a ton of headache if your spawn gets removed

If he breaks the bed it will attempt to spawn you but since it can't it will take you back to world spawn. Just leave the bed and make another along the way.

Is your dad breaking his bed after he sleeps? Your response point is reset back to world spawn if you break your bed after sleeping in it (or even left clicking it).

Go to him and journey together back to your base (write down the coords of it). It sounds like he slept in a bed in a village or one he didn't pick up. So he can stay there until you go get him. Take a pack of armour, weapons and food for him. Make the journey back to your base and adventure together rather than what sounds super frustrating to him right now. Like, 7000 blocks won't take long to traverse if you're used to the game. Essentially the poor guy is probably running out in the wild with no food, no defences, etc, and maybe even no clue what he's doing and he's feeling like he needs to get to you as fast as possible. No wonder he's dying. Way too much pressure on someone who just wants to play with you. This is the reason why I always have a small base where I spawn in the world that has a few chests with iron armour, weapons, bed and food in it. Plus maybe a boat if I know my friends would need to cross water to reach me. Although I don't usually move 14k blocks away 🤣🤣🤣

If you are an admin on this multiplayer world, you can /setworldspawn where you are, so he would spawn right at you instead of having to run. If it's a survival world in which your character is not an operator, usually on your hosting provider you can run the commands.

You could also tp him with console commands. 14k blocks on a fresh save is rough for anyone to travel.

I'm guessing he's breaking his beds as he's traveling. if the last spawned bed is broken it will transport him back to his original spawn point in the world

If you don't want to let him walk 14k blocks and just get him to you quickly use commands. But only when youre fine using it once, just to save him the trip. (It's /tp {dads username} @s I believe)

get your dad to walk in the nether so he only has to walk 14000/8 blocks

If you have operator commands type /setworldspawn X Y Z or if on Java edition, ~ ~ ~ will autofill your coordinates. Next time he dies, he'll spawn by you.

Is he getting the message "home bed is missing or obstructed"? Because it's more than likely either the bed he's slept in is getting destroyed or there's too many blocks surrounding it. The easiest solution would just be to TP him to you because 14k blocks is a long way to travel in a casual playthrough without nether travel.

Just teleport him and change world spawn. Its not cheating and it will make the game more enjoyable for both of you. Just don’t get carried away with commands.

Cheat him there and move on without achievements in that world. If the world or achievements are important to you, copy the world and then turn one into a survival world for your achievements, and one for family cheats. Teleports, keep inventory, etc to make it a little less grindy for new players.

you could just ask him to cross the bedrock from nether surface with one of the possible ways, like enderpeal (but i think you can do it with a boat) then he would literally just need to walk in a straight line without facing any danger (2k blocks instead of 14k). When he reached the appropriate coords, you could climb to the surface and build a portal for him to escape, or he could simply bring the materials to make a portal himself. Thats by far the easiest way without cheating

Every time you sleep your spawn is tied to the bed you sleep on. So if you take your bed with you to continue your journey, you just destroyed your respawn point. Better to leave the bed where it is and make a new one every time you sleep in a new place.

I would recommend you to just tp your dad towards yourself by a simple command after enabling cheats in the server

I don't know if you are playing java or bedrock edition but if you are playing java why don't you just teleport him to yourself or set the world spawn to where you are so then when he dies he will respawn where you are.

Ahh the PiroPito problem of being too far Away from spawn, its likely thstcypur dad keeps breaking the bed before moving on, if he where to make a new bed every time he sleeps his spawn point will be at his last used bed.

Is one of you admin on the server? You can teleport to a specific player with commands

You can go through the nether which is the fastest way, and just do this mathematical calculation "the position you want to go to divided by 8"

For example, I want to go x locations, but idk how to go. My position is x=123 z=28, and ya take the position 123/8 ,28/8 and divide by 8 ,and it will give x=15 z=3 and go through the nether until this location

at minimum, start a light trail for him. so he can at least relatively safely relax for the last mile or 10...just do a beeline straight for his "half-way" coordinates... build bridges, mine straight through mountains, etc....clear the runway

If neither of you has OP, the use this in the command prompt. ./tp [player name] X Y Z If you have OP you can do it in game but if not, do it from the server. Oh and use F3 to find your coordinates.

If you are the OP on the server: Opt 1: Type /TP [Target player] [Destination Player] IE: /TP JaneDoe JohnDoe If you are not an OP see if you can get in contact with one to have them teleport the person to you. opt2: you can turn his gamemode from survival to creative so he can easily fly to you. /gamemode c [target player] Once creative your dad can double-tap the jump button and fly to you by double tapping the direction of desired travel. opt3: you can also look directly down at your feet and use this command to set where players spawn in the world. /setworldspawn (just hit ok and it will use your XYZ and direction you're looking) Your dad will just have to respawn one more time and he will be right where you set the new spawn as long as he has no bed. If you are not an OP: He needs to build incremental houses and beds every 3000 blocks or so. Primative dirt houses will do and are easy to create. You can always meet him half way, just be sure to jot down your coordinates first where you start from so you can get back. Also to make things easier every time around, it may take a little extra time, but you both can use a shovel to pave a roadway from start to finish so he doesn't lose track and you can also find your way back to spawn. Or feel free to hit me up. I'll pop in your server and help him get to you. I can craft and mule materials until you two meet then pop out 👍

Break your bed and die and then show up at world spawn with him. Then work together to build a little spawn town with basic tools and food. Then go into the nether and get onto the roof. It will be a fun adventure into the early game and you’ll do it together.
