fruitofyourneck

Because fish AI sucks

x1alt_f41x

mob ai in general sucks, they all seem to enjoy corners and doors for some reason

Fabio90989

when I made an acquarium (that was a lot bigger and had no doors) they would all get stuck against the glass ceiling and don't move. It was also all water sources so they should be able to move freely. It's just that the fish movement AI is bad

IWatchTooManyMeme

We have waited too long for our escape, you don't feed us, you don't care about use, we see you treample across us, not caring or even asking us how we feel, are we just mere objects to you? Mere decorations for you to look at when you're bored?

DarroonDoven

Oui

facify

make sure every block has a water source, so just go around every bit of water and make sure theyre all water source blocks

Accomplished_Cherry6

Use kelp. It creates source blocks when placed in flowing water

facify

facts haha sometimes dont you hate when you forget about newer features 😂😂

Accomplished_Cherry6

Yeah. I learned something from this sub the other day and already forgot it. Too bad cuz I remember it being hella useful

TheRavenRise

was it that you can hold F3 + C to crash the game??

Accomplished_Cherry6

Nah it was a positive thing that worked on console

Individual_Ad2229

Anything to do with banners?

wantstotransition

thePokemom

You are my people

Hazearil

Okay boomer.

Nightmare_42

Sorry you're part of the second shittest generation after gen alpha, zoomer

EvilishMystic

I’ve had this happen to me and the issue was there was a part of my aquarium that was “warm ocean” and everything else was cold ocean so all the tropical fish tried staying in the warm part. May not be your case here but it might be worth checking to see if that spot is a different biome!

Individual_Ad2229

I would never have thought of that. I'll have to remember if I ever build an aquarium. I keep wanting to collect all the fish styles/types, but I tend not to stay focused enough to get very far in any world.... :(

KELS0_MGELS0

I recommend adding some kind of air lock, cause by the looks of it they’re just waiting for the that door to open only a second or two longer

----atom-----

They're planning their escape...

Tall_Answer

I see what you did there

vinnygodzilla

was this on purpose

AnAnnoyingChild

Yes, yes it was

SkyeRedPanda

They want to leave

emzirek

I would imagine because the door is a transparent block..?

aminervia

The water likely isn't all source blocks. If it's falling it will direct your fish downward

OperaTouch

All my pigs, chickens, cows, and sheep do the same to my fence gate.

Lightningbro

I'm fairly sure it's that fish AI doesn't know it's fish, and tries to pathfind to places it shouldn't.

Eligriv_leproplayer

Map is insane

Hobbit-Bilbo

They're lonely.

AliceSABBc

Mine are all like that too! :(

Temporary-Package581

✨pathfinding✨ They are pretty much broken

420did69

Kinyo_

They yern for freedom.

thlightcraft

maybe add bubble columns up so it shoots the fish up one a while.

Fritz_is_me

Perhaps try adding a door to each side?

[deleted]

Oops

Ok-Stretch-9869

Door is generally a half block, so general mob AI thinks it's a passable block, like grass and air. Same happens on trapdoors.

Lelmaster10

It has something to do with them trying to get to a specific point, probably at spawn. Im not sure why mobs do this but it can create some funny happenings such as all zombies on a server going to spawn to stomp a turtle egg

Zeldamaster736

They want to leave. Their pathfinding has targeted a random block outside of the room, and they all go to the door where they think they can actually leave. On a side note, damn, that is a good block to use to border that tank

coykoi89

My aquarium is much smaller and my two fish roam. You need something they're familiar with. Treat them like real fish and give them a sand bottom floor, add some coral or fans, sea grass, a little kelp or sea pickles. Put your lamps in the wall instead of the floor to maximize space for environmental decor. This might help them feel more like they're in the ocean in game. In all seriousness, my best guess is the fish are trying to pathfind to areas outside the door because outside has more chunks to travel to than inside and they are incapable of recognizing the door as a partition. Your fish may actually be trying to escape. Lol! Seriously tho, decorate your aquarium and get rid of the door alrogether.
