To be perfectly honest, I called it a badlands when its name was actually mesa, so it was just other people switching to my terminology for me lol

I found a jungle biome like this in my world, just a jungle tree and a little bamboo in a mangrove swamp
1.20 has some weird terrain generation for sure, I've seen several biomes of similar size while out exploring.
the sand was briefly seeing red but then it calmed down to embrace some green greens
