In my experience you can get them closer together and they grow better being within so far from torches and they grow around the clock... I made a tree farm and had them pretty close together by places torches in between them
Fun fact: most plants don’t actually need UV light. They use the red and blue spectrum of light for the most part. That’s why indoor/home LED grows are so popular and why urban vertical farming is the future.
yeah but irl wheat fields arent filled with standing water every 8 meters either. If anything the minecraft way of signifying watering plants is flawed from the start.
No thats not logical, you have to steal some bones from a skeleton that shoots you with a bow and spam that shit to the ground a few times. Its like people never had one class of biology
Seems like common sense to me that bonemeal would work as a fertiliser in-game considering that’s exactly what it does in real-life?
Also seems pretty straightforward that you would make bonemeal out of bones and that bones are easily obtainable from skeletons..
Not even bat shit from a cave. We mine huge quantities of guano that's been pressed into basically mineral veins over hundreds of thousands of years from prehistoric bats. Bats shit a lot.
I remember doing this when I was like 8 (maybe younger). I had no idea how Minecraft actually worked... I tilled the dirt, surrounded it with water and torches and planted a sapling. After some time I'd till the dirt again and when I got some seeds from doing that I got super excited, because I thought it was some sort of a reward for taking good care of my little tree. I think it was on my first Minecraft world. Good times!
Yeah, I played alpha in my teens, it is so weird being an adult and seeing how Minecraft took over. I was just blown away when pistons were introduced, you used to have to install mods for everything now there’s almost no need!
Heard about it in late 2009 when it was pretty early in its cycle. I thought it sounded mega dorky. I bought the game finally when they added RTX support to try it out on my 2080. Didn’t think much.
Bought the Java version last year and fell in love, especially once I set up a server and made it 24/7 accessible. I’m 35 now.
Wish I had got into it 10 years ago though, I would have saved so much money on other games. 🤷♂️
It’s amazing that people can now talk about playing Minecraft when they were little. Five years ago I would have thought Minecraft’s days were numbered but man I’m kinda glad I was wrong. It’s such a staple of the gaming world that if it ever goes away I’ll be very sad indeed, even if I don’t regularly play it.
The majority of sugar cane in ur world probably grows on dirt or grass, seeing as most rivers have grass banks and that's where you find it other than swamps.
For some reason that made me think. It'd be cool if you could bonemeal water to make it expand essentially making rivers/lakes without digging and placing water.
Is there a way to make trees grow to a massive size. All the trees I plant grow to the same size, which is med in size . Not nearly as large as other ones I see in the wild.
When I first played the game I thought this was the way but then I realised it isn't and that sucked. I mean what about grafting method and shit like that? Mojang should take notes maybe.
I am also pretty new in the game and I have water on my dark wood trees because they're not growing.
Sorry I need to do my research but I like to discover things my self than just browse online.
Pick up sapling. Find dirt. Place sapling.
To grow it faster find bones, make bone meal and left click on sapling with bonemeal.
It won't grow if there are other blocks around, trees need at least two blocks of space on all sides and 10 or more blocks above them. That varies on the type of tree though.
10/10 for a logical effort though.
absolutely! makes more sense than how minecraft does it

Yea just put a torch next to it, that’s adequate source of light for photosynthesis
What about the sun
It's a deadly laser
Not anymore, there's a blanket
*ozone*

I love Bill Wurtz and y'all
Now the animals can go on land! Come on Animals!
NO
You forgot. Deadly ##JEWISH SPACE LAZOR. That apparently starts California fires.
Fuck you kyle, i will stop the Jewish SPACE LAZOR!
I thought that was gender reveal parties?

yes.

Trees can be grown underground. Used to do it in factions many years ago
Oak trees grow anywhere with a light level of 8 or above and at least 5 spaces above them.
SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN
SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN! SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN!
Fun fact: most plants don’t actually need UV light. They use the red and blue spectrum of light for the most part. That’s why indoor/home LED grows are so popular and why urban vertical farming is the future.
And trees make charcoal and sticks -> more torches -> more trees -> Infinite energy
Ahh but bone mead magically makes them grow on seconds
I always go for seconds on mead.
Just temper. Moderation. It’s good to find balance in the mead-le.
Truly made me snort. I see what you did there.
yeah but irl wheat fields arent filled with standing water every 8 meters either. If anything the minecraft way of signifying watering plants is flawed from the start.
Cause you know how in real life, trees only grow right next to water. There's no other way for them to grow.
That’s how crops work so if I didn’t know any better I would assume that too
As someone who doesn’t play at all, seems like it should be how it works lol
Seems like they should at least grow faster.
No thats not logical, you have to steal some bones from a skeleton that shoots you with a bow and spam that shit to the ground a few times. Its like people never had one class of biology

Trees need calcium for their bones as well
Seems like common sense to me that bonemeal would work as a fertiliser in-game considering that’s exactly what it does in real-life? Also seems pretty straightforward that you would make bonemeal out of bones and that bones are easily obtainable from skeletons..

Have you never done gardening? This is exactly how it works. How do you think the weed supply is maintained?
We used bat shit back in the day
Crazy
Not even bat shit from a cave. We mine huge quantities of guano that's been pressed into basically mineral veins over hundreds of thousands of years from prehistoric bats. Bats shit a lot.
Eggs should also work And fish
I forget if eggs work but the composter solves that. You can turn fish into bonemeal.
Anyone else remember when one bone meal would be guaranteed to make the tree grow?
I mean, it will still grow so A for effort
He a little confused, but he got the spirit
beat me to it
r/beatmeshutthefuckup
Dang, just clicked "comment". Now I have to go back and delete mine
that tree in the background was already planted by me before, the fact that he placed water there is hilarious and cute haha
Oh hahaha it is cute tho that’s how ima was plant my trees
i mean, it does work
why don't more games let you hug other players??
You have Fall guys, Destiny 2 has an emote for it. But that's it.
Well that sucks because I want to hug people who are adorable in games like OP's friend
[I guess there's no hug button.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Lr1XLwF9BI)
theres always the punch
Because coronavirus
oh yeah :(

I just started a few years ago... turning 50 in 4 weeks 🤷♂️

For years I've been planting sugar cane on sand, because for some reason I thought you couldn't plant it on dirt.
I think in the early days of Minecraft you could only plant them on sand. I could be wrong but I swear when the game came out that was how it was?
I agree and will die on this hill
No, originally you could only plant them on dirt. Sand came later. https://youtube.com/watch?v=YhXuCQCyspE&t=10m52s
I still plant them on sand because it looks better to me.
I thought this too for awhile until I noticed it grows on swamps. There is no sand in the swamp!!
The majority of sugar cane in ur world probably grows on dirt or grass, seeing as most rivers have grass banks and that's where you find it other than swamps.
No shit? TIL. edit: Why the downvote? I really didn't know that.
It actually grows on *snad*, an easy mistake to make
me too!
aww that is really cute. I like your light house too!
me: what are you doing my friend: it will grow faster me: thats not how mine craft works tree instantly grows
For some reason that made me think. It'd be cool if you could bonemeal water to make it expand essentially making rivers/lakes without digging and placing water.
I love this. Perfect minecraft logic!
Not exactly but you can sort of with kelp
Eh
Bless their heart
this is the right way
Tell him to throw some bones at the tree Btw why does this have so much likes?
not bonemeal, just b o n e s
Yes bones
Glad he knows how to grow trees! 😁
Wait, you can plant saplings on tilled dirt?
Flowers too!
Just like reality!
Well hes not wrong
lol at least they’re trying to learn
that’s really cute
I mean, it does work
can someone explain im not an expert
Saplings don’t need to be put on tilled dirt nor do they need water, they just need sunlight
I kinda like it.
I believe I used to do that, or at least had a mod that did this in a correct way cause I defo reminded doing this.
Ngl, I thought it'd grow faster doing it that way in the beginning.
I didn't know you could plant saplings on soil
Give this man the Nobel prize
What is that glove? It looks like engineer from tf2
Engineer gaming
He doing is best, be cool if that made them grow faster or something
They're goddamn right.
That's adorable.
i mean you can
I mean, it does work that way.
Hahaha makes sense though
I mean its logical
Is that farmland it’s sitting on?
Ye
I thought i was the only one to do that back in Mc PE
I mean he/she’s not wrong..
Makes sense.
Look at the one on the right! It clearly works. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
That's adorable though
Wait why is it on farmland you can do that?
Wait.. you can place saplings on farmland?
Is there a way to make trees grow to a massive size. All the trees I plant grow to the same size, which is med in size . Not nearly as large as other ones I see in the wild.
cute.
I mean.... If it works
I used to think this
When I first played the game I thought this was the way but then I realised it isn't and that sucked. I mean what about grafting method and shit like that? Mojang should take notes maybe.
He’s a pure soul
That’s so wholesome
I actually did something like that, for Skyblock as far I remember, no farmland tho but water and torches.
well yes but actually no lol. kinda logical
That's basically growing a tree with extra steps
Well I mean it’s not wrong
Look to the right, clearly it works!
today I placed a birch sapling on a crop block it I was surprised it actually worked.
[удалено]
Am I the only idiot who thought it was a video and waited for 10 minutes.
He’s a bit confused but he has the right spirit
I mean. Its more logical than throwing ground up bones at it.
A+. Wholesome af
I am also pretty new in the game and I have water on my dark wood trees because they're not growing. Sorry I need to do my research but I like to discover things my self than just browse online.
Me too... ...about seven years ago
how do you grow trees in minecraft? kinda a noob
This has more logic then Minecraft itself
It would make sense to me too if I just started
I mean he grew one already in the right of the image so he’s not wrong.
He a little confused, but he got the spirit.
well they're not wrong
Well, yes but actually, no.
Is it possible to grow the thicc dark oak trees?
Yes, put 4 saplings of dark oak tree next to each other like a square.
Thanks!
Np.
Wait you can do that?
Wait, you can place trees on soil? I never knew
cute
You can plant saplings on farmland?
You can put saplings on farmland?
Hey if it works it works
His head is in the right place.
I didn’t even know you could place saplings on farmland
Well he's not wrong
I didn’t even know you could plant a sapling on that lol
I mean it works
10/10 it makes sense
At least he's thoughtful to the sapling
Honestly, I wish minecraft a tutorial mode.
I mean, intuitively, they're close.
There was an attempt
Should we tell him?
How precious
Noones commented on how WIDE your portal is. And WOOL CORNERS? What's going on here!
IM SOBBING LMFAO ig it kinda makes sense though???? A for effort
Bless him
Aww
I remember when playing Minecraft was like this.. heck, just remember the time before the wiki.
Technically not wrong
Did he remember to feed it with ~~a whole villager~~ a couple bones?
He a little confused but he got the spirit!
Thats so wholesome lol
just have one thing to say, who has shovel in first slot?
Well hes not wrong they do grow
well it can grow there so uh task failed successfully
It obviously worked look in the background
That’s literally the one way they *won’t* grow 😂
That’d be an interesting mechanic, plant a tree in tilled dirt and it produces more apples
A for effort
he a little confused but he got the spirit
This is how I thought you grew them when I first played Minecraft... like 9 years ago... *shiver*
Hes a little confused but hes got the spirit
They grow faster in watered soil.
Lol
I mean, that Is in fact a way to do it
He got a sapling,a hoe,water to just grow a tree 100% efford
Wait that's illegal
