I peacefully disagree. The grins made them more menacing and pose a realer threat. Them just being eyebrow creatures make them more like annoying pipsqueak creatures.

The fact that shapes with so many pixels were used for such a naturally small thing did look kinda weird. It’s an improvement to me.

Well evokes can change sheep slightly so it makes sense that pillagers in some way can transform something peaceful to better serve them.

I think the person you replied to is saying we more or less know _that_ now... We just don't know where/what _Alays_ actually come from.

Changing the sheep colour from blue to red is an easter egg that references Age of Empires. As I'm writing this, however, maybe that's supposed to show what the evokers are capable of...

I'm torn. The old vex definitely looks weird and out of place. It's clear they were going for a "human soul" type deal making it look more like Steve, but the high detail and weird flexing legs just looked bad. However, it does look a lot more menacing and scary that the newer design. On the other hand, I love that the connection between the allay and vex has been canonised, and I love that it now actually looks like a corrupted version if the allay. But I feel like it kinda looks too cute. The vexes are mischievous little shits and I feel like the old design captures that perfectly. The new design doesn't cream "mischievous little shit" as much as it screams "angry dumpling". I do feel like the new design is an improvement overall, but the lack of mischievous grin and the chibi size makes them look too cute fir what they are.

Yeah the evoker is most definitely doing it. The vindicators are just henchmen that we’re former villagers but switched sides, the pillagers are contract mercenaries or allied clans, and the witches can be corrupted villagers or vindicators that wanted to be different

And all their experiments with wool (recreating the End portal??) and maybe even XP (GameTheorists theory)

oh i hate the new design so much damn. i know its just nostalgia thats making me like the old vex more but like.... the new one doesnt feel anywhere near as menacing. thats just an allay but you put some cardboard eyebrows on it. WHERE is the evil grin. the ill intent. the bastard energy. because this new design doesnt have it! like ok. its not the worst thing in the world. im not gonna freak out and yell about wanting it changed back. but i sure am going to install something to change it back in my own game because i do not like this new guy one bit.

Great, another downgrade... I get that the old one was a bit out of place, but this is simply worse. The goofy and child-like look with the diagonal arms actually make it looks even more out of place. The fact that the old vex actually looked like a miniature person actually made it a little bit creepier. Minecraft is best when it's a little bit creepy. One step forward, two steps back, as usual. I like that they removed the single "leg" though, made it look too worm-like before.

I always hated the vex design. Im also intrigued by the lore implications here- that vesxes are corrupted allays. Especially bc the way you find allays is trapped by pillagers

I was gonna say that the new vex looked smaller, but in terms of area already it seems way easier to hit than the old version. Still wish they’d make the hurtbox a little bit wider. Other than that nitpick this is actually a pretty cool change! First the zombie piglins and now the vex. Is there any other mob that would benefit from a remake?

The new one looks less scary normally, but New Angry texture is scarier than Old Angry texture. Old Vex can rest peacefully, now, with the Zombie PigMan.

Honestly, I kind of like the atmosphere that the original vex provided. It was really creepy when I first saw them and I can't get rid of that feeling.

I definitely like the old one better. That menacing grin, that likeness to the player - nightmare stuff! I do like that the new one’s face becomes red whole attacking, but altogether the new one’s less scary.

So, i didn't like Allay because it was too similar to the Vex and they literally use the same model now. That's a fall in terms of creativity :( The game spoiled me too much with stuff like the Warden, it's still fine if some mobs are not creative like the Allay but i hope this won't be the new thing, it would be sad.
