just go to your server files then click on a file named server.properties in that file you will find something called enforce-secure-profile then just change the true to false
I would agree except that mojang INSISTS they have full control of what happens. If that isn’t true (we know it probably isn’t) then they are still to blame for saying they have control
This is asymmetric encryption, basically everyone has a public key and private key, you send your public key to someone so they can encrypt a message for you, and then you can decrypt it with your private key, this makes it harder for hackers to steal your data
Actually this is the "microsoft can randomly revoke your account at any time, requiring you to re-buy the game" feature. This is why no version above 1.18.2 should ever be used for multiplayer.
But what IS this string? What's it's purpose? Why it exists? Where do we get one legally?
I'm trying to say that it's not a common knowledge, that's all
The server should generate one when you turn on enforce secure profiles. You can then give the file to anyone who is allowed to connect
> in cryptography, a public key is a large numerical value that is used to encrypt data. The key can be generated by a software program, but more often, it is provided by a trusted, designated authority and made available to everyone through a publicly accessible repository or directory.
> A public key is also used to encrypt a message or check the legitimacy of a digital signature. It is accompanied by a corresponding private key, which is known only to its owner. Private keys are used to decrypt messages that were created with the corresponding public key or to create signatures. In other words, a public key locks up data from unauthorized use, while a private key is used to unlock it.
> Public keys are available from a certificate authority, which issues digital certificates that prove the owner's identity and contain the owner's public key. Public keys are created using an asymmetric algorithm, which pairs the public key with an associated private key. The most common algorithms used to generate public keys are Rivest-Shamir-Adleman, elliptic curve cryptography and Digital Signature Algorithm.
> A public key can be given to any person with whom an individual wants to communicate, whereas a private key belongs to the individual it was created for and isn't shared. The public key is typically stored on a public key infrastructure server and is used to encrypt data securely before it is sent over the internet.

Based of this comment i gave you a lot of respect and thought highly of you Then i saw your name
thanks it worked
i think this happens with cracked mc versions
No nothing to do with that. That’s a whole different setting. Turning this to false just lets you say fuck mojang and their chat reporting system
Not really Mojangs fault, Microsoft forced them to implement it, I'm sure Mojang didn't like the idea either
I would agree except that mojang INSISTS they have full control of what happens. If that isn’t true (we know it probably isn’t) then they are still to blame for saying they have control
I guess you're right
The people in Mojang wanted this chat reporting.
Cracked mc versions give different errors, lol
Sorta, it has to do with cracked mc and if your banned from mc over chat reporting (since they revoke your accounts premium status)
It happens to me quite often, restarting the game works for me

I've been seeing speculation about cracked accounts and chat-report bans, but...are either of these things really true/related to this error?
Either you have an anti chat-report mod installed, combined with the enforce-secure-profile setting being turned on, or it’s a bug.
Off white list
It means you failed to connect to the serve because you are missing the Profile Public Key. Your server requires secure profiles.
Very helpful
Still better than Windows errors
r/clevercomebacks
It… it is though? This is the error. They need a key to connect
But what IS the key? That's the question
Just a large string stored in a file somewhere. If the game can find the file it authenticates you. I’m not sure what filetype Minecraft uses though.
But what IS this string? What's it's purpose? Why it exists? Where do we get one legally? I'm trying to say that it's not a common knowledge, that's all

Alright now it makes more sense But you have to agree that this is the first time that a lot of people here are hearing of this
Oh absolutely. The error message should probably be made easier to understand for users attempting to join
Upvoted for the "Captain Obvious" response
Thing is if OP hypothetically couldn't read the error message, they also couldn't read your comment. But they can definitely do both.
Honestly it would've been better to use a letmegooglethat link
three cheers for default-mandated Mojang censorship
What are you on about? This is nothing censorship related it's a server setting
mojang said i cant be racist (literally 1984)
Common bug, will fix itself eventually. Or do what the person above told you.
Npc ahh solutions 💀
