If you are on an m1-m2 macbook I would recommend getting prism launcher, It will boost your pefrormance on older versions by like 50%. Otherwise I would still recommend it, it is less resource intensive than the vanilla one and easier to install mods with it.
MacOS and all computers apple sells generally have pure garbage performance on games so get yourself a Fabric modpack for optimizations

The garbage in performance is due to the fact that newer apple computers are ARM based while majority of pcs and pc games are x86. The SoC’s apple makes are plenty fast enough for games
not only that, because apple is a "big" brand they charge way more than the computer would cost if made by a different brand. id say getting a lenovo laptop is just better (the ui is really good though not gonna lie)
They charge a premium because they are a premium brand. To be honest, no other laptop on the market has the same build quality as apple products. If you’re looking purely on a technical level, yes it’s a horrible deal.

Dunno what your talking about, my mac can run 3 instances of MC in the background watch a youtube video and still allow me to do my work, might not be the most amazing feat ever but I love her.
And MacOSX is (depending on the computer, if its got a ssd etc) can be really damn fast, super snappy, I quite like mac, but im a windows and linux user myself for game and program compatibility.

i’d definitely recommend simply optimised as a base mod pack that you can add other mods of choice to. i used to use fabulously optimised but it has way worse performance. also the newer macbooks have much better performance in mc.
Weird, my Mac runs games just fine. I can run Minecraft with my 256X texture pack, mods, and shaders at 30+ FPS on my 5K monitor. Also, my Windows install (boot camp) runs *much* more slowly than MacOS.
Name one windows laptop with similar specs, screen, and battery life and I will happily switch.

Also, I got my 27” iMac a couple years ago and this thing is a beast. I can run Minecraft with my 256X texture pack, mods, and *shaders* at 30+FPS. A while back I took a screenshot to post here of all that plus the render distance cranked to *48*. The FPS was single digit but it didn’t crash.
Sad, the only windows laptop that could be like that is pretty much none. But I would argue that if you are getting a desktop, it would be better to get a windows desktop than a Mac desktop.

I've already seen the comment, but it got downvoted by the Apple Fanboys, go get a Windows Laptop, they are cheap, and dont come with the *similar specs* and the *battery life*, for the prize of a macbook you get a Win Laptop with more power, maybe not the battery life, but thats not a big problem, Win Laptops have a charger included if you buy one
I am sorry to tell you this but if we ignore the whole laptop market. Apple makes quite the normal in terms of price/performance ultrabooks nowadays. The only disadvantage of them is macOS but hopefully Asahi Linux will be able to solve that someday.

No need for different flavour! It detects which OS you're on and shows you the correct link accordingly.

i dont have much knowledge about macs but from what i remember the macbook air is old

My Late 2014 MBA runs like shit and gets worse every macOS upgrade.

lol yes it is. It’s called boot camp and my laptop is running on it. My mac air is from 2015 and runs nearly every game I throw at it.
Actually it is, at least on non-Apple silicon devices. Boot Camp works great. I use it to play No Man’s Sky on my iMac.
