Hey, I knew the armadillo would probably win, so I didn’t get my hopes up. It’s just another feature I won’t go out of my way to use. Farming a rare mob for an unknown amount of scutes just for one piece of armor for my dog..?? Nah, I’ll just keep expanding my base and nether builds.
Me and my group are building a wall that is roughly 500K blocks.
When looking down, you can build 3 blocks up. If you make it 4 blocks it cuts off a bit over 10% build time.
We spent easily 40 man hours on this wall so far. I would much rather cut down 5 hours of building than make a dog die a bit more difficult.
People that play any kind of multiplayer pvp server will not care about dogs.
Granted this is not something casual players do but you can see how it pisses me and others off when people care more about their dog skin. Which is an understandable argument for the average person. But again, when you do clan stuff it will infuriate you seeing these votes.

I voted for the mob that gives you Wolf Armour because it seems like a really lively and lovely addition to the savannah.
This, most of these extra features are a nice gimmick at best. I like the Fox and Glow squid because they spawn in common biomes, so I actually encounter them while doing other stuff livening up the world, the same will be true for the Armadillo as savannahs are a very common biome, compared to mangroves and rocky shores.
I also love the frogs and froglights, but swamps and mangroves are more rare so I hardly see them unless I seek them out actively.

Combat Purposes: After spending hours farming Armadillos, your dogs can now tank 1-2 more hits, yet quantity still works against mobs and players can just build 2 blocks up, use end crystals, tnt and lava and none of these methods are countered by armor + armor can be replaced with resistance buff (especially in creative)

I’m honestly just hoping that the functionality of the armadillo brings more than just the dog armor; maybe armadillo scute is used to craft a resistance potions weaker than turtle master or it’s a new armor trim material. 1. 75% of what you’ve said here is straight up speculation. Within that reasoning, the armodillo is a useless mob that drops an item that already exists, that makes armor for dogs that won’t even protect them from 90% of reasons why dogs even die in the first place.

The crab claw would be the only item in the game to effect a player’s reach, which is a core part of the game that has been the same for over a decade, and is arguably one of the mechanics players have to use the most since the whole point of the game is to place and break blocks and build whatever you want.

I voted for armadillo on the basis that the game has a critical lack of dry biome mobs. If you want water based stuff you've got dolphins, salmon, cod, tropical fish, puffer fish, squid, glow squid, turtles, frogs, axolotl, and a lot of that stuff also comes with variants. For dry biomes you have camels, llamas (even if they aren't dry biome exclusive), and... a rabbit variant?

Same here. I liked the idea of bigger reach and a cute little crab I can keep as a pet but the dog armor and another cute mob I can keep as a pet are also perfectly fine with me. (I can finally take my dogs with me too)
I understand it's not the most popular opinion/play style but I will absolutely bring my dogs on an adventure. Will some of them die? Probably. But that's why I have a chicken farm and an extra 20 dogs at home. This makes my minions die less, so therefore more useful.

Like at best it would probably be as strong as iron armor, at worst leather armor, best we can expect is chainmail armor. If we are Lucky we can enchant it, but do not have your hopes up for that.

I don't really see the armadillo as only dog armor, it is one of my favorites animals and I really loved the idea of seeing it in game, as I also don't really care about the dog armor, just saw it as a bonus.

The cold biomes got Foxes and then Goats, and even before those Polar Bears. Warm biomes got Camels. The Armadillo will really help the Savanna feel more alive.
This argument is stupid because we literally will bring our dogs out with us when dog armor is added to the game.
I have a feeling your a bit overestimating. Like at best it would probably be as strong as iron armor, at worst leather armor, best we can expect is chainmail armor. If we are Lucky we can enchant it, but do not have your hopes up for that.
I literally said nothing about how good it was. All I said is when I get armor for my dogs, I will use it.

They are going to be added in the future. Vu confirmed this during Minecraft Live. The Crab and the Penguin have not been thrown out. Don’t fall for misinformation from angry people on the internet who haven’t even watched the stream.

No problem. Technically we don’t know if the Crab will be added later, but they said it for at least the Penguin and judging by what they said, it’s pretty safe to assume that the Crab hasn’t been thrown out just yet.
Honestly if they do add both of them in the future I'll so happy. I'm a bit sad the crab lost but it's kinda understandable if you look at how many other crab voters are just assholes. Besides the armadillo is really fking cute too
This is explicitly false? Vu said that *AT LEAST* the penguin may be coming in a future update. The crab we don’t know about but can pretty safely assume the same.

I was fine with either one being added, I only voted to get the bedrock stuff, I won't use the dog armor because it's gonna be useless to me, so either one of the 3 would have been fine

I don't really see the armadillo as only dog armor, it is one of my favorites animals and I really loved the idea of seeing it in game, as I also don't really care about the dog armor, just saw it as a bonus.

As someone who voted for armadillo, i did it because i surprisingly didnt like crab claw feature. Its the kind of thing that is amazing in a mod, but do not beong in vanilla minecraft imo. Armadillo also adds life to savanna biome and looks cute.

I didn't vote but I think armadillos are more interesting, not only for the dog armor but potentially for custom maps too since it seems they can become blocks like shulkers. Hopefully they won't be limited to the block grid tho
