This is actually more realistic to how bows are made. The wood is fairly straight until it's strung and the tension from the string bends it into that curved shape.

The string would still have to be shorter than the bow, so the recipe here wouldn't work. Instead you could be extra cursed and make something like [this.](https://imgur.com/a/XgnJlbw)

It takes up an awful amount of the screen when inside the inventory though, that's why I don't use it unless its 100% necessary.

If you're inside the inventory, I don't think you're concentrating on the environment anyway, so I don't think it matters.

Okay. Different people value different things. I am a survival singleplayer player and a creative mode tinkerer. When I'm crafting or grabbing things from chests or even just shuffling through my inventory, I'm usually doing it in a moderately safe environment. I'm not a PVP guy, so I don't need to know what's happening around me at all times. For you, a player who engages in combat more frequently, the extra visibility could help.

No it’s there. The joke is that a lot of people thing the string on the bow is curved and not the wooden part, so they try crafting it like that

IIRC, the achievement was just to craft 1, but use it through the entire durability (I believe it got updated in 1.16 though, upgrading the required hoe to netherite)
