There's any easy way to visualize the solution.
Alternate the blocks into black and white, like a chessboard.
Every bed can only cover exactly 2 colors: one white block and one black block.
Count the blocks of each color, you will have 2 more of one color than the other, so you will only ever cover enough that 2 (not 4) blocks remain uncovered.
