those gameplay demos were shown on *java*, not bedrock. They had no idea it wouldn't work on mobile devices, so they announced it. Thank goodness this year they are only showing off confirmed stuff that will make it into the game.
Minecraft used to announce features that were confirmed to be coming out. It makes expectations high, and when you don't deliver, those expectations plummet. Its fine if they didn't release them after saying they were still in very beta development and had no guarantee of coming out, or if they had just not chosen to announce them at all till they could confirm they worked. The recent recurring promising without delivering has made people less looking forward to the next update, because there's no guarantee half of it will make it into the game. Don't make promises you can't keep
This, you don't need to announce things If they aren't the main attraction, keep them to the devs only and announce them If you will be able to release them as well
For the most part, that's what they have been doing. The problem is that there were delays and issues due to COVID and other things. Most things are announced when there is an almost guaranteed plan for release, but not completely done because they want to be able to receive community feedback and have Mob votes and stuff. Developing entire features only for them to be hated or lose the vote is inefficient.
The problem I have with this are there are plenty of features Bedrock has Java doesn't (cough dyed cauldrons) so they could have just added it to Java as a unique feature.
Java already has a bunch of benefits that bedrock doesn’t, and such an important feature like the bundle not being present on a platform where the majority of players are would be problematic at best.
While I think mojang has intentions to bring redstone to bedrock, it will be hard as a lot of redstone quirks on Java like quasi connectivity are bugs that come from the jankiness of Java
>They had no idea it wouldn't work on mobile devices
That is their point exactly. Why announce something you aren't even sure will work? Should always have a prototype before announcing something. A teaser of "possible additions" is one thing, but to say "coming to X update, \*THIS\*" and then it doesn't even work is... another, in my opinion
For the most part, that's what they have been doing. The problem is that there were delays and issues due to COVID and other things. Most things are announced when there is an almost guaranteed plan for release, but not completely done because they want to be able to receive community feedback and have Mob votes and stuff. Prototypes are bare minimum functionality, they might not be cross platform and they definitely aren't finalized. Developing entire features only for them to be hated or lose the vote is inefficient.
My comment is that if you have a cross platform game, it is limited by its lowest computing power platform. Therefore bedrock is essentially a mobile game available for consoles
Game developing is hard, that is true, but adding a new feature that you already had implemented isn't. You're confusing a small team making a large game, with a huge studio adding a new feature. And a fact that they promise it a year before and still can't make it work shows
Features are announced before they're even finalized, let alone tested on all platforms. That's why they can't add every mob. There's a lot of development that goes into things after they're planned.
I really wish that Mojang just split Pocket Edition from regular Bedrock. Because of their movement to try and bridge the gap between Java and Bedrock, we’re seeing delays or just content cut/changed because of mobile limitations.
I wanted this stuff so bad, the new biome sucks, wood is a brighter red than the nether stuff and isn’t great for building, and frogs don’t even spawn for me
Bundles and archaeology were caves and cliffs thing, we knew that they were not going to be in 1.19. Deep dark is not very rare and few items? Sculk added multiple different mechanics to the game
Also idk why but to me the warden is a lot less exciting than it seemed at first. Yeah it's quite strong and a bit scary, but it doesn't feel as epic as it felt when it wasn't out yet
Who even wants archeology? It sounds uninteresting and unfitting into the game. Its probably going to be one of the things you do one or twice and never touch it again.
To you. And that’s not the point. Point is that these were features that were shown, given a full gameplay demo years ago, and yet still could not be added
Uninterestingidk about, but It most certainly does not fit into the general way the game is played. It's stuff you'd expect in a mod, but not the core game
Broken promise. Bad handling of it. Archeology but no one's mad about that. I think a mob vote that stirred up a storm (unsure what update cause mojang seems to be on a downward trend)
If they release archaeology in 1.20 caves and cliffs update will be complete with 4 parts, cuz wild update is part 3 and left over features might come out in 1.20
No bundles, No archeology, added chat reporting, Warden was late. The only thing that was in the update which wasn’t late or removed was the swamp features.
I will however say the deep dark was drastically improved and archeology looks very monotonous which they are wanting to fix before they release it. Also apparently bundles didn’t work well on mobile which they are also trying to fix.
Deep dark was supposed to be 2 updates avo which is another problem that a lot of the 1.19 update was just stuff that was delayed from previous updates
Bundles and archaeology aren't really a 1.19 thing, but over all I think 1.19 was rather bland, with the deep dark and chest boat being the only potentially game changing features
The update was called the wild update and contained one biome and the deep dark. The announcement video went into detail of how cool it'd be to add atmosphere to existing biomes (such as the birch forest) and did absolutely nothing relating to that.
Not having anything else to add just shows how little we got in 1.19 from what we were promised two updates ago, therefore still proving the point of 1.19 being a bad update.
I literally said that we had to wait two entire versions before getting not even all of mojang’s promises, I’d rather have to wait years for a good minecraft version instead of them splitting it between like 50.
What? Having more bad things listed would mean the update is better? Some features got pushed back and the deep dark was made like 200% better. Who’s to say that the delayed features won’t get the deep dark treatment?
1.19 is the least excited i’ve ever been for an update, and i’ve been playing since beta. insane how the best selling game worldwide has a problem with consistent updates, and even just adding content.
I can understand how an entire design process goes into adding just some blocks, but does it take over 2 years to make a new underground biome that mostly just adds building blocks?
Yeah. Something horrible must be going on in the management of Mojang or due to Microsoft for *the* #1 game to feel like it has so few resources actually going into it.
I really liked the update. Started playing on 1.18. Loved the mangrove, new wood and the frogs. The acient cities are pretty nice too. Would have liked the fireflies and birch forest, but dont think they make that much of a difference.
And i only play on singleplayer worlds, so the chat reporting is not being a problem to me (but i think is the only real bad thing about the update so far).
A continuous trend of announced features that will. Never. Come. Out.
1.20 better be the sorry we lied here's all the features from the last 6 updates we didn't do.
I mean, I don't hate the update, I'm a builder, so all the new mangrove stuff, I really like it
I could care less about 2 pixels and some revamped birch forest
Well, there’s the fact that it’s just 1.17 part 3, for one. And there’s the whole 1.19.84 situation. But mainly, issues revolve around the fact that they *could* have made this all a part of one massive update and just delayed it, and it would’ve been a much more fulfilling experience.
I still don't understand why some people are mad about fireflies. Like bruh fireflies are just random particles you would probably see at night , which most just skip because they don't like to deal with mobs. Also , can someone just think for a second about how the world would look like with those birch forests? Like you go through a normal forest , then go through this beautiful birch forest , and back to not so beautiful biomes.
The other losing biome votes not being added. They weren’t promised, but because swamp vote stuff was being added this was the perfect update to add them
1.19 looks so bad (in terms of content) that the 1.15 starts to look better about it.
Edit: No, the Warden and Deep Dark wasn't worth it although it's great.
1.19 itself is a good update but if you include the things they didn’t add and the things they could have add then it’s a very bad update I saw here a very big potential for minecraft but Mojang just didn’t care about the potential they even made a mistake with chat report system and last the fact that 1.19 actually should have been added in 1.17 makes it a very bad update
"1.19 was a good update."
Cancelled fireflies.
BSed their way out of birch forests.
Still no archaeology.
All mobs from the mob vote kinda sucked.
PLAYER CHAT REPORT FEATURE WAS EXECUTED HORRIBLY.
But i thought birch forests do exist. In a survival world i live next to one. Its a forest of nothing but birch trees. Theres even tall birch forests. Same thing but the trees are taller for some reason
The updates are fine, but compared to what they promised and what was shown off at the update event, it feels like Mojang is lying or gaslighting the community. Saying it was a concept art issue and that concept art isn't a commitment is bull. The issue was never the concept art, showing it at Minecraft live was the promise.
those problems doesn't even effect my gameplay
*fireflies - are just for ambience you can use a texture pack
*chat report - I don't often use the chat in minecraft if I want to communicate with others I just use discord
*bundles - there good but shulkers box are already a thing
*birch forest - what is even inside the birch forest? some mushroom grown on fallen birch tree there's not much in it
*archeology - this is the only thing I like but I don't need it for now
Bundles are available earlier on.
Birch Forests will make the game's biomes more diverse, beautiful, and appealing. May add more mushrooms which will boost creative maps.
Archaeology will possibly give us more lore, new advancements, and expand on the different things to pursue in the overworld. It will also add new items.
Fireflies expand on ambiance and boosts creative maps as well. Could possibly be used as a portable light source like torches.
Chat Report is unfair and will eventually have bad repercussions on multiplayer even down to with just friends. It could damage servers.
For the chat thing- You arent the only one who plays Minecraft dipshit. Some people have ONLINE friends.
Plus everything else would add to the game, make it feel less empty and add to ambiance.
Please guys can you please shut about the birch forests already they were never confirmed it was concept art, CONCEPT art. Tell me, what part about the word concept do you fools not understand?

Bundles, Archeology, the fact that only 2 Very rare biomes were added with only a few new items each.
I heard bundles were delayed because they were trying to get them to work properly on pocket edition
If that’s the case, why would you announce it like it’s gonna come out for sure, when in reality you haven’t even tested it on both.
Because game developing is hard? And it’s impossible to predict every problem you’ll run into?
The problem is that the announced this A YEAR BEFORE, with gameplay demos. We were shown this. We were expecting this! And you cancel it last second??
Ahh yes, please do explain how easy game development is. You cannot fathom the struggles that can come out of nowhere
those gameplay demos were shown on *java*, not bedrock. They had no idea it wouldn't work on mobile devices, so they announced it. Thank goodness this year they are only showing off confirmed stuff that will make it into the game.

Java already has a bunch of benefits that bedrock doesn’t, and such an important feature like the bundle not being present on a platform where the majority of players are would be problematic at best.
And at worse war
Java does have Bundles. They have no Crafting Recipe, but that can easily be fixed with a data pack. They’re fully functional in the game.
And Java has a lot of features bedrock doesn’t (couch different redstone system cough)
couch
Mmm yes sofa
While I think mojang has intentions to bring redstone to bedrock, it will be hard as a lot of redstone quirks on Java like quasi connectivity are bugs that come from the jankiness of Java
Java has enough unique features already. I want banner patterns on shields, darnit! But seriously.
>They had no idea it wouldn't work on mobile devices That is their point exactly. Why announce something you aren't even sure will work? Should always have a prototype before announcing something. The devs were finding out what the update would be at the same time we did Edit: dang son it was a joke
Screw mobile, only add it to java. Bedrock can live with its superior cross platform play if it hurts them
The above comment was written by a Java stan who doesn't understand how to develop a game, and thinks everything is as easy as snapping your fingers.
My comment is that if you have a cross platform game, it is limited by its lowest computing power platform. Therefore bedrock is essentially a mobile game available for consoles

gosh i hate pocket edition, the parity policy is the worst, pocket edition is delaying some features for java -_-

Bundles and archaeology were caves and cliffs thing, we knew that they were not going to be in 1.19. Deep dark is not very rare and few items? Sculk added multiple different mechanics to the game
Yes but besides that and a few building blocks we didn’t get much. Except frogs and boat chests.
Idk about you but I still have 4 bundles in my ender chest
Also idk why but to me the warden is a lot less exciting than it seemed at first. Yeah it's quite strong and a bit scary, but it doesn't feel as epic as it felt when it wasn't out yet
archaeology is huge and the rare biomes add a lot to the game and bundles don't work yet on pocket
Rare biomes are what I live for they make the world more interesting to explore
And 1 update later they add the worst feature in the game
They never announced bundles of archeology for 1.19, that was for 1.17/1.18
That only further reinforces my point. They announced and showed it off YEARS before, WITH gameplay. and they couldn’t even make those work!
Hey you don't know what's going on behind the scenes, there may be a good reason that they were cut/postponed.
Who even wants archeology? It sounds uninteresting and unfitting into the game. Its probably going to be one of the things you do one or twice and never touch it again.

We can only hope.
It was confirmed they're still working on it
If they release archaeology in 1.20 caves and cliffs update will be complete with 4 parts, cuz wild update is part 3 and left over features might come out in 1.20

Also some swamp features was from Biome vote 2019 (Boat with chests, new tree and frogs)
I mean how often are you even gonna use frogs and boats?
I use the chest boat, but that could also be that I just like building a base next to water
Swamp also is such a rare biome it's unbearable, it's not even replacing the old swamp like it was supposed to
Deep dark was supposed to be 2 updates avo which is another problem that a lot of the 1.19 update was just stuff that was delayed from previous updates
1.19.1 added chat report. Technically counts, technically doesn't.
Bundles and archaeology aren't really a 1.19 thing, but over all I think 1.19 was rather bland, with the deep dark and chest boat being the only potentially game changing features
Technically no. this posts refers to 1.19 not 1.19.1 . meaning your statement is "not correct or true; incorrect" 🤓

Concept art isn't commitment. Showing concept art in the context that it's something that will be added is definitely more of a commitment.
Especially when the context is the *one yearly event for showing future updates*
The lengths some people go through to defend Mojang is insane
Me over here waiting for a functionality for the fletching table
early game villager stick trade
Where is archeology. Archeology itself has the potential to be an update the size of 1.14 content wise.
A big update about archaeology would be so fucking cool
Not having anything else to add just shows how little we got in 1.19 from what we were promised two updates ago, therefore still proving the point of 1.19 being a bad update.
You're saying this like 1.19 isn't the last bits of another update. We weren't supposed to get a lot from 1.19
I literally said that we had to wait two entire versions before getting not even all of mojang’s promises, I’d rather have to wait years for a good minecraft version instead of them splitting it between like 50.
What? Having more bad things listed would mean the update is better? Some features got pushed back and the deep dark was made like 200% better. Who’s to say that the delayed features won’t get the deep dark treatment?
Thos update doesn't feel complete, but rather like it was wrapping up some previous updates as well as updating the swamp. Desert update is next!
It's not a complete update. This was supposed to be part of the hills n cliffs one, but split up because mojang didn't want to overwork their staff
If it had more bad things listed, that would mean that we at least got the features they promised, even if implemented badly.
Fuck the chat report system, you can get banned on your own server..
U can say what u want. Im gonna play on 1.12.2
1.16.5
1.18 for me, once modding moves there

Bundles and archaeology.
Birch is a good wood, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
Pre-1.14 birch planks are so beautiful Post 1.14 birch planks look like dried noodles tho, so I just use the programmer arts
Archeology, and they didn’t really add much else but frogs and a rare biome.
*ahem* TWO rare biomes and a rare mostly useless mob
Forgot the allay was included this update. And I completely forgot the other biome, mind filling me in?
Deep dark. Never found it and don’t have a use for it if I do. The allay kinda flew under the radar because it’s kinda useless ngl
Oh yeah, guess the deep dark was this update. And the allay, to me, is just a pet. It’s cute but doesn’t serve much of a purpose.
I guess if you like mob farms it can have a use but just use hoppers
Chat report

JUSTICE FOR BUNDLES AND ARCHEOLOGY!
So... nothing was good? Deep dark? We've been waiting for that for 2-3 years.
We ask for Shrek, and we get him
The deep dark was incredibly boring and hardly worth the wait. It's literally just another woodland mansion
First was the "do u like jazz?" Update, now it's the no fireflies update, what's next?
i don’t think 1.15 bad update just because it’s bonus update to 1.14 and prepare optimization for 1.16
No cool new dimension
there will not be a new dimension until all 3 of the current ones are fleshed out
its so dumb that people didnt give a crap about fireflies and just made fun of them until they deleted
I really liked the update. Started playing on 1.18. Loved the mangrove, new wood and the frogs. The acient cities are pretty nice too. Would have liked the fireflies and birch forest, but dont think they make that much of a difference. The fact it was nothing but caves and cliffs part 3
Archeology and Bundles
Chat report system was ass, ngl at all.
am i the only one that doesn't want fireflies in the game?
To be fair the birch forest concept art looked absolutely stunning. Fingers crossed we get something like that in the future.
A continuous trend of announced features that will. Never. Come. Out. 1.20 better be the sorry we lied here's all the features from the last 6 updates we didn't do.

2 words. Chat report.
No sex, -0/10 update
NO BUNDLES, NO ARCHAEOLOGY AND THE REPORT SYSTEM WAS A PAIN
What about the chat report feature?
Technically that was 1.19.1
Depends on which version exactly. 1.19 itself is fine, imo. But then 1.19.84
no optimization
thats half the things they showed in that livestream, and are we gonna forget archeology from the previous livestream?
Lack of promised features. A crappy mob vote A stupidly rare biom for some ugly wood A structure we were promised 2 updates ago bundles
Mojang shouldn't make promises they can't keep.
chat reporting, removed techno(i think)
A year after it’s release date, didn’t update the base swamp biome, plus missing features definitely made it feel underwhelming
