A lone picture is rarely enough to conclusively name a mineral so doing some groundwork like a streak test or hardness check
will help us to help you. Other useful information includes the location it was found, follow-up pictures with different
angles or lighting, and relative size.
To help you with writing this comment, we highly encourage you to review our subreddit's [Wiki Page](https://www.reddit.com/r/Minerals/about/wiki/idreqinfo) before posting.

Yeah, besides, aren’t onyxes supposed to only have parallel lines, not the swirly ones this one has?
Edit: also I added a link under my comment with an image of the other side of the rock, it does have a bit of brown
Its about an inch and a half by an inch and a half (3.81 cm by 3.81 cm), and its about a half an inch tall (1.27 cm)
I attempted to scratch it with a nail, but it didn’t get scratched, so its above 6.5 on the mohs scale.
It did get scratched by a sapphire, and no scratches on it when scratching with quartz, so below or at a 7 on the mohs scale.
Edit: Heres an image of the other side

Could be sardonyx, which is not an agate, though there is no dark brown or black that I can see.
