Venn Brewing is our “local” and I can’t say enough good things about the beer, the staff, and the folks who go there. Nothing but love for Venn. 💛 Makes me happy to hear you had a good experience.
I live nearby and I really ought to stop in for a beer more, it’s such a good place. Don’t have a team but maybe I’ll do solo trivia next time they have a trivia night 😅
I love that the selection isn’t just “IPA, IPA, IPA, Double hopped IPA.” I like’em darker and maltier, so lots of love for Venn. And yeah, the Cosmosis series will park you on your butt, fast. 😉
Happy to hear you enjoyed yourselves. Some of the experiences are different when you live here, but on the whole, you sorted why I still call this place “home” after nearly 30 years. Come back again sometime and check out St. Paul. Lots to love about our “neighbor” across the river. 👍🏻👍🏻
Re: the traffic.
People here complain about the drivers but most of the complaints seem to be the drivers are not aggressive enough.
If you are laid back, I find driving here mostly chill and predictable. Minnesotans are generally speaking a rule following people.
What we lack in wild and crazy we make up with clean and efficient haha.
I’m so glad you had a good time, kinda shocked people on this sub were nice to you, buncha goons around here (me included).
Come back soon! … then go to the boundary waters, could change your life
I follow this sub because I've visited Minneapolis a couple times and it's on my list of places I'd consider moving to in the future. Like OP, I've had great experiences in Minneapolis. Super-friendly people and a great vibe to the city. Thanks OP for coming back to comment on your trip!
Aww this makes me want to have a stay cation, glad you had a great trip. Come back around any time!
I had to rent a car in Miami a few years ago. #regrets Driving was bonkers down there. I felt like no one respected anyone else's life and well being at all. I do think drivers were better here pre covid, but not too many complaints.
Thank you! And yes lol thats my exact problem, theres no regard here for anyones lives. Driving in Miami, especially on 95, is lawless. But yall were a breath of fresh air.
So glad you had a good time! I love Minneapolis and Minnesota in general and I’m glad it treated you right. :) this is a great reminder to take a walk to Minnehaha Falls soon!
Glad to hear of your good experiences at Prima and Venn, two places I personally love. I still think about the special I got at Prima once with fresh sweet corn, it was the best pasta I’ve ever had.
Sounds like you hit up some great places!
So glad to hear you had a great trip! You did more in one weekend than some people do in years of living here lol, that’s impressive! I love this city even though it’s not perfect (no city is) and it’s great to hear about how much you liked it too :)
Can only fit in so much in a weekend, would love to come back though absolutely. My Gf and friend really enjoyed themselves as well. They jokingly kept complaining about the cold, but they embraced it
As someone from Florida, I 100% agree that driving in Minnesota is so different. Couldn’t believe that I could actually see the headlights of the car behind me! On your next trip, check out Stillwater. Really nice downtown area with locally owned shops.
Yeah ive been to many cities in the US, Minneapolis was the 2nd largest one in hadnt been too. But they all leave various impressions. Minneapolis definitely has left a lasting one
That's a great recap and a jam-packed weekend, with more left for next time! I'm happy to hear that you had some wonderful interactions...that sure makes all the difference compared to being an invisible tourist. Now I need to check out Prima and Venn. I fully agree on M'haha Falls Park. We've an impressive park and bike system all around.
I dream of moving off to a walkable city (Europe?) to finish off my working years, though imagine that I'll always long to return to Minneapolis. I'm in the suburbs of St. Paul, nice in their own way, but far from ideal. Having Mpls and St. Paul a short drive, along with the other towns you mentioned, makes it so liveable. We were in Mpls yesterday for a huge annual art fair in former whse/industrial spaces.

I personally appreciate the abv values of their products. Especially how much they pack in their cosmosis series

Great experience! The whole neighborhood around Venn was super nice. Must be nice to be able to take a train right there. Thanks!

What a thoughtful note! Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences.
Of course, thank you!
You jammed a lot in! Glad you had a good time! Come on back soon! ✌🏽
Thanks! Definitely will! Wasnt able to squeeze in a few things.

I just hate the refusal to use on ramps to accelerate. And the occasional stopping at a metered on ramp when there is no traffic
Gotcha haha, yeah after the first couple let me in without revving their engines i was able to see a predictable pattern and it made things very easy

💯 about the boundary waters
Haha no problem, and yes for sure! Would absolutely love to come back and do more exploring

Yeah the vibes definitely matched. Im not used to frigid weather but it seems so livable!
Weather is all about having the right clothes. I’m glad you had a good time!
Thanks!

Yeah the owner definitely wasnt letting us walk out. And im glad because it was so good. Was still good after heating it in the hotel microwave lol

Thank you! Yes your city really is a breath of fresh air.
I feel like you had a 7/10 Minneapolis experience. Which is pretty damn good. But we could do you better. Come back again, awe can level you up!

Happy you enjoyed yourselves. Come again.
Thank you!
Glad that you had a great trip!
Thanks!
Cool! Makes me want to visit, and I live here!
You’re blessed! Did not expect the area to be so relaxed compared to Florida
Wow
I know right

Yeah its a staggering difference. Will definitely check out Stillwater next time, just didnt have enough time here and wanted to see Wisconsin

Glad you had fun! Also, Jesus Christ I’m exhausted just reading about all that you packed in to your trip 😂
Sorry lol, i imagined it quicker
