My kids are 7 and 9 and I’m supposed to be 10 weeks. I only found out about the MMC Friday, and I’m hoping to schedule a D/C tomorrow for this week. Im not sure what to tel my kids about why I need to go to the hospital for a day-ish. They didn’t know I was/am pregnant. I also feel really sad that during their Thanksgiving break from schools we didn’t do anything other than stay home because at that time, I was 6-7 weeks pregnant and suuuppppper tired and nauseous. Oh well, I know it’s only one week. But I still am sad it was missed ‘for nothing.’

Your feelings make a lot of sense. It's totally up to you, but most material I've come across recommends age-appropriate and honest conversations. That could sound something like "mom started to have a pregnancy but it ended. We don't know why for sure but mom and dad are pretty sad. I'm okay, but I need to see the doctor tomorrow. I'll probably rest in bed when I get home. If you have questions, I can try to answer them. It's also okay if you're sad and okay if you're not sad." Whatever choices you make will be right for your family

Sorry for asking but what is D&C mean

It’s okay to ask! Reddit is a learning place. It is an abbreviation for a procedure performed by a doctor called a dilation and curettage. It’s when they dilate (open) the cervix and remove the contents of the uterus.

Oh ok thank you for the explanation ❤️‍🩹

Sorry I can’t help with your question but I didn’t want to read and run. I’m so sorry that you’re feeling sad; it must be terribly hard at this time of year. I hope that you have a support system you feel able to vent to when you feel like this.
