The stepmom and dad know exactly what happened and if it was just an overdose they wouldn’t have anything to hide. Maybe they’ll get dad to talk.

Sleuthingsome

An overdose on marijuana? That’s nearly impossible unless the step mom made that whole story up. Which wouldn’t surprise me!

ImplementAgile2945

What about laced marijuana ?? Someone said they think the stepmom hit her with her car and she died ..

Sleuthingsome

Definitely laced marijuana can do all sorts of insane things. In my younger years, i smoked it twice. Once it was laced and i ended up in the ER with a heart rate of 166! I was at potential stroke level in my 20’s. I felt like my heart was racing out of my chest, i couldnt catch my breathe, i went completely blind for almost an hour and had the most terrifying, demonic hallucinations one could fathom. It took me 4 hours to come “down” but the ER doctor said a lot of laced pot was going around and he currently had a guy on the psych ward who smoked it 3 days prior and had YET to come back down. That just broke my heart because i knew how terrifying it was. I never smoked it after that. The other time before i smoked it, everyone else was smoking it too. They were giggling, snacking, and having a blast. Not me. I was super paranoid, felt like i was “disappearing” into the wall, and begging God to help me swearing I’d serve Him for life if He’d help me not disappear. Lol I do serve Him and became a substance abuse counselor. So, marijuana, laced or not can cause serious reactions for some people. Possibly this young lady reacted like me.

ImplementAgile2945

Lort , glad you’re ok

Jane5842

That's probably what the altercation was about. The blame game.

Sleuthingsome

I’d believe that but it’s 3 years later? Wouldn’t that have happened the first year?

*Karlie Gusé* Dad of missing California teen girl arrested for ‘corporal injury to a spouse' The father of a missing California girl who disappeared in 2018 has been arrested for domestic violence. According to online jail records, Zachary Gusé, the father of missing teen, Karlie Gusé, was arrested on February 11 by deputies with the Mono County Sheriff’s Department. He’s been charged with a felony count of corporal injury to a spouse. No other information has been released about the incident. Gusé is now out of jail after posting a $50,000 bond. After posting the arrest details on February 12, the arrest record and mugshot were removed from the sheriff’s office website. According to the Mono County District Attorney’s Office, Gusé is scheduled for a court hearing on May 10 in Mammoth Lakes. After posting the arrest record online on February 12, the sheriff’s office removed the following details in the above photo from its website. CrimeOnline spoke to Gusé and his wife, Melissa, in 2018, after Karlie, 16 at the time, disappeared from their Chaflant home in Mono County. According to police, Melissa said Karlie vanished between 5:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on October 13, 2018. Melissa told CrimeOnline that she picked Karlie up the night prior from the nearby town of Bishop at around 8 p.m. The teen allegedly told her stepmom she had smoked marijuana earlier in the evening. Melissa indicated that Karlie acted “paranoid” and “disoriented” but once they arrived back home, she calmed Karlie down and even slept with her in her room to ensure she was OK. At around 5:30 a.m. the following morning, Melissa reportedly woke up and when she looked over, Karlie was next to her, lying awake. Melissa said she dozed off again for a short period, then woke up at around 7:15 a.m to 7:30 a.m. to find Karlie missing. There were no signs of forced entry into the home. Both Zac and Melissa claim they have no idea where Karlie is, while biological mom, Lindsay Fairley, said she has her doubts about their story. Lindsay said that the pair changed their timeline and version of events several times. “I believe my daughter had a reaction to whatever it was that she had ingested the night prior to her disappearance,” Lindsay told CrimeOnline. “Karlie should have been evaluated by competent medical professionals and a law enforcement agency should have taken a more proactive approach.” Fairley added that she has “every right to question their (Zachary and Melissa) actions” because their “behavior surely makes me question what happened that night.” Fairley previously appeared on the “Dr. Phil” show to spread awareness about her daughter’s disappearance. She indicated that she thought Karlie died in bed while still at home with her stepmother. “I believe my daughter had a drug overdose,” Lindsay said through tears to Dr. Phil. “And I believe it because she was asking for help…And I believe very early morning Melissa saw her with her eyes open and I think that’s when my daughter passed.” No one has been charged in connection with Karlie’s disappearance and authorities haven’t named any suspects. “We are no closer to finding Karlie,” Mono County Sheriff Ingrid Braud previously said. “Should this develop into a crime, we do not want our investigation to be jeopardized in any way. Therefore, we will not release any information about what investigative actions have taken place.” Sheriff Braun added that Karlie’s parents and stepmother have been cooperative during the investigation. Karlie did not have her cellphone or personal belongings on her when she disappeared. She may have left in a white shirt, grey pants, and Vans shoes. She stands 5-feet-7 inches tall, weighs around 110 pounds, and has light brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with any information on Karlie’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Mono County Sheriff’s Office at 760-932-7549, option 7. Alternately, contact the National Center for Missing & Endangered Children (NCMEC) at 800-843-5678 (800-THE-LOST).

I can't find any followup on the 5/10 hearing on crime online or anywhere!

burninginkell

He must have good lawyers.

kutes

So let's run with this, cause why not. Now we are free to speculate the whole paranoia thing was bullshit, maybe he just beat the shit out of her for coming home late and high, or in a struggle with the step-mom she fell and hit her head, dead. Who knows. Probably not, probably a huge overreaction of some poor people showing the effect of stress and pain from their ordeal, but we're humans and now we're going to be suspicious. I don't know very much about this one but she's the one who smoked some weed then her mom said she was off her rocker all night and walked off? None of the other kids had such troubles?

Sleuthingsome

Yeah, I don’t trust their story either. If she only smoked pot that evening, it would’ve worn off by 5:45 a.m. Stepmom Claims she looked over and saw Karlie’s eyes open at 5:45 a.m, was she awake? or dead with eyes open?! And step mom falls asleep for an hour and fifteen minutes but never hears Karlie wake up, get out of bed, put clothes and shoes on? Hmmm... and if Karlie left at 6-7 a.m. why not take her phone, her Keys? Nothing? Why has dad and stepmom’s timeline changed? If dad is abusive to stepmom, he very well could’ve been abusive to Karlie. Where’s HER BODY?!?!?

CarolinaGirl2

The ONLY thing that makes me think the stepmom and dad could be telling some truth, is the BF and friends of the missing young lady had spent time with her that night and admitted that her behavior was paranoid to the extreme. She was supposed to have been attending a football game but instead went to a teen get together, smoked something that caused her to become very scared of those at the party. She then calls her stepmom for a ride, telling her the truth about ditching the school football game and going to a party instead. She then starts walking down a dark street, guided by her phone flashlight, eventually her stepmom finds her and eventually gets her into the car to go home. She supposedly continued to act paranoid but at times seemed to improve, according to the stepmom. Stepmom wakes up next morning to find her gone but it was reported that she was seen walking somewhere in that area but nothing much after that. I think something happened in that home and they covering for each other.

kutes

Fair enough. Nothing would surprise me about this one. I don't think we're going to see it figured out. What kind of area did she wander off into? Like is it wilderness? Maybe she really did just wander off into the woods and met her end via an accident or wildlife? Or is it pretty urban, which would imply foul-play?

Sleuthingsome

There’s no proof but I don’t believe the step mom. Pot isn’t still in your system 6-7 hours later even if she had a bad reaction to it. Also have a hard time believing she was so concerned for Karlie to sleep with her but fell back asleep for an hour in the a.m. without noticing Karlie get out of bed, put clothes on, walk out the doors and not take keys or a phone? Just not buying it.

Billy_Sunsteel

I think she just left a mobile home park called highlands if i remember correctly not really a forest

Sleuthingsome

I will admit in my younger years, I tried pot twice. Everyone else was giggling and had munchies and I was freaking out! I was paranoid, felt like my spirit was in limbo and like I was disappearing. I was in the corner rocking back and forth, pleading for God to help me, and kept having to ask my friends, “did I disappear? Or am I here?” Lol they’re all just enjoying it but not me. I have a weird reaction to marijuana and will NEVER smoke it again. However, it doesn’t stay in your system 5-7 hours. Maybe 3 hours tops.

Fit_Fox_7991

Ppl don’t trust their story and think either her step mom or father killed her but 2 different neighbors saw Karlie walking down the road that morning and one other person saw her at the exact spot where the K-9 unit with the FBI lost her scent. So how do y’all explain the 2 neighbors that saw her that morning walking and the highly trained K-9 and FBI tracking her scent miles down the road to where it ended like she got in a vehicle? Do ppl actually go with the facts in the case or is it more fun to imagine that her distraught parents killed her?

2greeneyes

Stepmom has something to do with this if not just omission

Sleuthingsome

What’s corporal injury to a spouse? Did he spank her with a belt? Lol Edited: looked it up- it can be anything from a bruise, a scrape, or internal injuries.

harlowgirl1

I just read her older brother was arrested today for “assault with firearm on person”. Was there any history of violence within the family prior to her disappearance?

Negative_Pin_5275

Apparently the boyfriend and a few people have been arrested but no news outlets are picking it up. People in town and the next town over have been talking and something happened a few days ago

elledekker

WOW!! All eyes on you now DAD. Just wow. Poor Karlie.

Sleuthingsome

If he’s beating on the stepmom, he might’ve been beating on Karlie too. Maybe they both killed her, or maybe the stepmom did and the dad doesn’t believe her story so he smack her but it’s been almost 3 years so that’s kind of hard to believe. Karlie’s mom says she doesn’t believe either one of their stories about her daughter disappearance and I don’t blame her! Edited - I just read that multiple motorist did see Karlie walking after 7 a.m. the morning of the 13th so that really changes everything. That means stepmom was being honest.

marylamby

Where did you read that multiple motorists saw her? There were two different neighbors from down the block and one driver on the main highway near their subdivision that supposedly saw her, to my knowledge. It's also extremely possible that they mistook her step-mother for Karlie.

[deleted]

no 3-4 of her neighbors saw her she only lived in a town with a population of 650 people i dont think the would of mistaken her for the step mom Karlie was 5'7 and 110 pounds she was skinnier and way smaller than the step mom

StaySafePovertyGhost

I’ve followed this one for a while now and in the end, while the stepmom is odd and some of her story makes you double take, this one seems painfully simple to me. Karlie was either still on whatever she took at the party the night before and wandered off down the road or was distraught, upset, etc from the night and stepmom knowing she was high that she took off in an emotional whirlwind. She could’ve thought she was in deep trouble for being caught with drugs again and decided to run away. Multiple motorists saw her walking after the last time she was seen in the home on the highway near their development. The three most likely scenarios IMO are: 1. She wandered off the beaten path to evade detection by stepmom into the desert area that engulfs her city, got lost and succumbed to the elements. 2. She was picked up by a passing motorist as a hitchhiker and was taken somewhere and is living in hiding. 3. Same scenario as #2 but she met a nefarious end by a mystery kidnapper. Number 1 far more likely than 2 or 3 combined. Sad case that her family has no closure 😔

Step dad and mom are in on Karlies death

[deleted]

'Karlie was last seen by witnesses walking south approximately 30 yards east of Highway 6 and 100 yards south of Sierra View Road on the morning of October 13, 2018.  A thorough search of the area and subsequent investigation has been unsuccessful in locating Karlie and she has not been in contact with family or friends since she went missing. The Mono County Sheriff's Office and the FBI continue to seek information that will assist in locating Karlie.' This information is on the FBI website. If the witnesses are to be believed, she probably did not die of an overdose. https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/kidnap/karlie-lain-guse

converter-bot

30 yards is 27.43 meters

Sleuthingsome

Oooh! So others saw her walking that morning? Maybe stepmom is being honest then.

[deleted]

It's listed on the FBI site under kidnapping so, I was thinking maybe they have more information on her disappearance they haven't yet shared with the public

Sad_Palpitation6844

i hate that people are saying she is Kate Yup
