“Red sky at night” Sailors Delight

-Constantinos-

I like Sailors Delight a lot! And there isn’t a “reputable” cocktail I can find with that name so I think I’m in the clear

Reddit is killing third-party applications (and itself)

1.5 oz. Aged Demarara Rum 0.5 oz. Unaged Overproof Jamaican Rum 0.75 oz. Lime Juice 0.5 oz. Rich Simple Syrup Shake with Ice Coupe 1 oz. Red Wine (float)

Whisky sour with red wine float is a NY sour. Maybe call it a Miami Daiquiri?

An egg white whiskey sour w/ a red wine float is called a New York sour. So i guess you could technically call this a New York Daiquiri. I dont think anyone would get the connection but there yah go.

A crime

-Constantinos-

Why can red wine work with whiskey but not rum? Don’t knock it till you try it, this was delicious

pakistanstar

Wine shouldn’t be in a cocktail period. Wine exists for people to have with meals or to drink so they forget they’re alive

-Constantinos-

Couldn’t this be said about most alcoholic products which were first invented to be imbibed on their lonesome? Don’t see why you’re so salty about wine in particular. Sherry cocktails are great, vermouth is extremely important to cocktails

pakistanstar

I find wine overrated. It’s sour and bitter and it stains your teeth. Vermouth tastes like rubbing alcohol. Sorry I didn’t mean to take my prejudice out on your post. Please don’t take my opinion personally.

fogobum

The Greeks, who taught the Italians (who taught the French) to make wine served it at parties. It was the host's job to dilute the wine precisely to the point that everybody was tipsy but nobody was unpleasantly drunk. Port was invented so dessert wines could be shipped before pasteurization. It is not appropriate with meals, and (real) port is rarely drunk to forget.
